| One of the disadvantages to the underfolder is the lack of a cleaning kit in the butt stock. The extensions in it would be enough on the end of the rod to clear it. Yeah, I know we're talking about the video of someone in a firefight and you're probably not going to do that, but it does help. |

well substandard bimetal ammo was probably the cause. case rupture?
Where is the brit and why is he fighting isis? Also at least with the top cover design it allows you to quickly get access to the chamber with plenty of working area to clear said jam. If I had to go to the sandbox and depend upon the local supply chain, hopefully I could bring my own rifle. Getting my hands on a Krebs KTR-03, finnish RK95, or Vepr would be preferrable. |

The top ribbed cover and bolt carrier (and likely bolt) are not original to that rifle. (Top cover should be smooth and bolt carrier raw/un-painted) Chi-com AK's are normally tough as shit. But, like AR's (or any semiauto) you can have worn extractors He was using chicom flat back mags though, which IMHO are the best steel AK mags out there. |

I have run russian crap through a lot of different types of guns and even a bolt action will jam up like a mofo using steel case ammo. Mosins and mausers alike. |

Saying that everyone going into combat should have a set of stiff cleaning rods so you can remove a stuck case or the barrel gets clogged with mud/dirt. These little "tricks of the trade" are stuff I wish I thought of when I was a Grunt. I had a blank get stuck in my SAW's chamber one time and needed someone's multitool pliers to get it out. A cleaning rod would have been faster and easier. |

The last cleaned weapons in my unit was the M4. Our battalion was doing its own "surge" in our sector. We were being ready to hand off the sector to an incoming National Guard unit. So we were getting our asses kicked on 18-20 hour patrols a night, 7 days a week. After doing all that weapons clearing bullshit you had to do at the clearing barrels and returning the gun trucks to the CP area. We had to get our shit out of the trucks and do some other bullshit. By the time you are done, you might be lucky to get 4 hrs of sleep before the next patrol. So we never had time to do a good cleaning on our rifles. During the 2 week long surge, we did get into a quick two-way range with some insurgents shit bags. 5 guys in seperate positions were involved and all 5 guys with their beat up and not clean M4s, managed to not have a single jam. Despite have the upper/lower reciever, quad rail and everything with a coat of dust on them. |
