I thought Cody was the expert.  In fact, I only recall one time when Cody couldn't get a fire started.  it was trip where they were on a KY river outing and fell out of their kayaks/canoes - "out in the middle of nowhere" and were separated.  That first night, Cody couldn't get a fire started; I forget why.  They eventually met up and they built a raft and floated out.

No to excuse the behavior but I think the TV studios are partly to blame.  They embellish every damn thing and before long, the "actor" just has to go with it.

"Tell us about your military experience so we can talk about it on the show."

"Well I was in the Army and had some survival courses and.."

"Oh, you were an Army survival expert?  And were you special forces?"

"No, I had some of the courses but..."

"Oh, so basically Special Forces.  Okay, we can work with that.

Next thing you know, his bio says he's an elite special forces survival instructor and the money they're waving is too good to not go along with it.
