My voter registration card says I'm a Republican. It lies.
I was once a Republican, but I've evolved. Now I'm a Libertarian. I'm completely PRO-FREEDOM. I am for conservation of our natural resources, but I'm not militant about it. Simply don't WASTE them. I'm as pro-gun as you can get. I believe a government should be like a penis: Big enough to be useful when it's needed, and small enough to be unobtrusive and not noticed much at all other times. (Like that one? [:D] ) I believe in freedom of speech, and ALL the other issues mentioned in the other amendments. I believe that the only liberties that mean a damn are individual liberties. I believe in freedom of choice, even on the abortion issue. I believe that there are many people who should be candidates for retroactive abortion, as a matter of fact. I don't believe in imprisonment as a punishment for crimes. I do believe in mandatory capital punishment for capital crimes, being rape, arson, and murder, specifically. All other crimes should be punished by suitable corporal punishment, usually involving a bare back and a bullwhip. You take your punishment, it hurts like you never imagined, and you remember it for the rest of your life, and it leaves a mark. More strokes for more serious crimes. And then you're set free. A FAR better deterrent than the prospect of confinement with three meals a day and a bunk to sleep on, with TV. I believe that any person who can buy a house has a right to own any type of firearm to defend it and its contents. I often wonder what was written on that third tablet, the one that Moses dropped...? CJ |

I usually score as a libertarian on those sorts of tests, but I consider myself more on the conservative side. They seem to make those tests in a way it's hard to actually get put on the conservative side. Oh well.

I have taken this little quiz before, and am mostly Libertarian. However, I disagree with the party platform on a few key issues. No party can contain me. Both Republicrats and Democans have lost touch with American ideals.

People accuse me of being Libertarian, but then again, people have accused me of a lot of things. I swear I didn't do the kitchen maid on the cafeteria counter! Not /that/ kitchen maid anyway. [}:D]
I _did_ smile benevolent upon the efforts of the Lib party, even went to a "Bob Glass for Colorado Governor" rally, but realized that they have no concept, no esprit, plus one of the speakers pissed me off with her snide remark of "Will you be a good German when they take your neighbors away?!" I asked her about this, whereupon she replied "But that's just a remark! You know, a thing you say." - "Well, it's in the same league as calling my Mexican friends wetbacks, and I object to that!" - "But it's just a remark!" - "Well, whatever..." So, I guess I'd be more of a Heinleinist, if there was such a thing. |

I don't think any of the questions are unfair, but I would say it's pretty simplistic. To be scored as a "Libertarian" you would put yes on most, as an "Authoritarian" you would put no on most. "Centrist" put a close number of yes and no, in both personal and economic, "Left" puts yes on the personal and no on the economic, and "Right" puts no on the personal and yes on the economic. I don't think it's very accurate to say that conservatives support most regulations on personal issues. |

I scored as a Libertarian. I must confess that I do not know enough about them to know if that is a correct placement or not.
I am most comfortable thinking of myself as an involved citizen desiring a reduction in the size and scope of the federal government. At the same, I would like to see an increase in the powers of the state and local governments. The elimination of the IRS and federal income taxes would also need to happen, replaced by a flat tax or a use tax. Is there a political party that includes these ideals? |

How do they? I don't know. All I know is when I take the test, every time, I am a peaking Libertarian. When I take other political tests, usually ranging in the 50-100 question range, I consistantly score as a "Staunch Conservative".

Perhaps you show up as "staunch conservative" because the quizzes you take do not include the second dimension in their scoring system. Conventional political thought is that you are either left (more government control for economic issues) or right (more government control for personal issues). I took the test and it said I was a libertarian, but I [b]strongly[/b] disagree with them on their stance on imigration, but I must confess that in the 04' elections, the first time I can vote, I will vote republican because I don't think that in the near term there will be any hope for a libetarian canidate. A vote for a 3rd or 4th party is a vote for a democrate.

Pro-Freedom Pro-High Performance Gas Guzzlin' Hot Rods Pro-Loose Women [:D] Pro-Gun (I think everybody here is.....duh) I am no where near being 18. As a matter of fact I am double that age. But.... I can't understand if you are considered adult enough at age 18 to die for your country. Then why can't you enjoy the personal freedoms you are willing to die for? Handgun ownership, drinking age and other things that escape my feeble brain at this moment. Pro- smaller gov't We need a gov't, just not a real big one. We have the best one in the world but sometimes it abuses its people. More and better guns for the police to use against CRIMINALS and more and better guns for civilians to use against CRIMINALS. Crime will drop quickly. One more thing, this 3 strike law is bullshit. Anybody can make a mistake when they are young or maybe their emotions run amuck ONCE!!!! Anything more than that and they are just abusing the system. My solution [:D] After the second strike and they have done their time. Paint their foreheads with a big neon glow-in-the-dark L (for LOOOSSSEEEERRRR...)so we can see these idiots coming from a mile away. If they straighten their lives out and live clean for 10 years straight. Off comes the L and we put a small smiley [:D] face in its place (so we still know what they are capable of). I think I could run for office on this one idea........... |
