The psychology of pit owners/apologist is really fascinating if you think about it. They share so much in common with leftist bleeding hearts and the western/white guilt crowd. The mindset is almost suicidal if taken to it's rational conclusion. Example: Take a malevolent, dangerous thing. Type 1 person is too naive to even acknowledge it's inherent danger and ignores all evidence to the contrary. Type 2 person acknowledges it's potential danger but thinks they are capable of controlling it. They get a buzz out of feeling superior to something so dangerous. Type 3 person is the most simplistic. They want what they want and are willing to let the world burn to get it. Put another way: Type 3 person breeds pits and let's them wander the street. Type 1 person sees said pit on the side of the road and brings it to a pit rescue facility run by type 2 person. |

Quoted: No different? Seems like according to the stats, they are VERY different. They attack, maim, and kill less than pits do. You are trying way too hard, and it's beginning to reek of desperation. I think you're just ignoring his point, he couldn't have been more clearer if he'd written it in crayon. Or you really ARE that bad at reading that you completely missed it.... |

Quoted: Thoughts and prayers to her and her family. With that said, here we go with yet ANOTHER thread about these worthless fucking animals hurting/killing people, and we're sure to also hear from people who can think well enough to understand that broad, sweeping generalizations are for weak minds. Didnt we have another thread about a little girl mauled last week? FTFY. |

From her mom: It’s been a crazy 24 hours. After I updated last night, we waited 4 more hours for them to finish stitching her up and for me to get back to her. It took them 9 hours to close most (not all) of her wounds. Big surprise when I was told they were finishing up— Discharge from the hospital. Yeah. I know. I questioned it several times but she was to go home and that was that. So, I told Tess Lancaster, “I’m going to get you out of here and I’m taking you home for people to love and comfort for you.” So that’s what we did. We left the hospital around 3:45am. I called my friend and made a plan for later that morning. I put her to bed. We slept a couple of hours and then went to Xpress care where we were lovingly and excellently cared for. They transferred us to Magnolia and we are in a room. Much has been accomplished in the past few hours. She is still running fever, still getting IV pain meds and will start IV antibiotics. The ladies of Xpress care helped me bathe her and document her wounds. Our goal is to wash her blood soaked hair at some point today. The stitching by the doctors in a Memphis was excellent. That’s all I’m going to say about the Med. As much as I didn’t think she needed to be discharged, I’m glad God brought us home. It’s wonderful for me not to have to fight for her and to be able to just love her and be cared for as well. She is sleeping now and has taken some ice chips. Hopefully, we’ll advance to clear liquids later today. The swelling in her mouth and face is a concern for swallowing. Also, holding off just in case she needs to go to surgery any time soon. Much thanks for you love, concern, prayers, and messages. Taking care of Tess is my priority and I know that’s the way y’all want it too, so if I don’t answer your call, text or message. It doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate it or am ignoring it. ——————————- Tess has asked me to keep her phone charged but has been unable to use it. As soon as she can she will see all the messages and love you have sent her. Thank you so much. |

Those that know there are still real Pit Bulls out there today bred the way they always were. Those that know were the real blame lies in these tragic stories. Those that know better than the talking heads looking for head lines. I'd wager anything that 90% of the pearl clutchers here have never spent a minute with a real Pit Bull and have very little knowledge about canine breeds and breeding programs. In a few short years from now, some idiot if they wanted could absolutely ruin the Labrador Retriever. It only takes a few short generations to get enough junk bred and out there to " ruin " a breed. It was done with the GSD, Rottweiler, and now it's the Pit Bull. People tend to offer their pearls of wisdom but are to stupid to know what they don't know....... but as usual insist their stupidity means something. |

I have to go help my son with a couple of things. Before I go , just to be clear, I personally would not ever own one of those cross bred ill bred canines that most here incorrectly call a Pit Bull. Don't want one would never own one ...... I have no time for them. I dislike them. I would however gladly own a real Pit Bull Terrier and someday will when I downsize from my Rotties. I know the difference. I know what they were bred for and the traits they were bred for. A well bred Pit Bull bred to the standards of the old breeders is an absolutely fantastic canine in every way. Nothing to fear. These other animals that ignorant people mistakenly call Pit Bulls?? Yeah, I am not a fan of those either. |

Quoted: The characteristics of those breed and references to them were much different 100-120 years ago. The patterns and morphologically most often considered pits now had become a recognized issue by the 1960s, and more over the next forty years, and more so in the next twenty. The modern GSD is bigger, heavier, widened chest, more pet and show Line influence, and a lower curved croup compared to the same time frame. Everyone thinks of them as a GSD. But the true form, and there are still some true form working line GSDs out there, are a sleeker, more athletic, exertion and heat resistant performance and look, much like a Malinois / Dutch. In the same way we what we refer to as pits is not what was a perfect pit 100 years ago, What we call a GSD is very different than they were 100 years ago. https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu220/ramairfour/527F9131-4668-4D33-AC40-FA857E152B99_zpsdgaua1yv.jpeg Good post. So may people don't understand this stuff. The problem with what has come to be known as a "Pit Bull" is a problem created by people deliberately creating a dog that is a problem. Tragic. It's a sub culture that needs to be run to ground. When I see Labradoodles or Cockapoos and compare them to "modern" Pit Bulls (as opposed to Staffordshire Terriers), I think of H.G.Wells' Eloi and Morlocks! Dog breeds take generations of careful work by thoughtful people. The result is purpose driven dogs with particular temperaments and physical capabilities. People just don't understand or appreciate that. I hope the girl who was attacked makes a good recovery. And I hope the owners of the dogs are held accountable. |

Quoted: It's called breeding. People breed for the characteristics they want to see in the dog. The Pit Bull or any other bred for that matter didn't "morph" into anything. There are still real Pit Bulls being bred and are available today. Your example with the GSD and how it has been ruined?????? Is a DIRECT result of what was winning in the show ring. The GSD DID NOT MORPH into that you see today. The traits you see in the Modern GSD were BRED for by idiots....... on purpose. Just like other assholes took the Pit Bull and breed it for their wayward wants. You can still get the real Pit Bull and would be AMAZED at the temperament and social ability of the dog. Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: No no, maybe he's right. Maybe whatever he is referring to is actually a "pit bull" and the rest are just "pit bull lookalikes". That doesn't help his case as much as he thinks it does. Fine. Dogs that "look like" pit bulls, whether or not they are actually pit bulls, are responsible for more deaths & maulings than dogs that "look like" any other breed. So from now on when I say "pit bulls" I mean dogs that look like pit bulls which, to Dipper's dismay, includes actual 100% pure bred pit bulls. So, AFAIC, dogs that "look like" pit bulls get lumped into the DO NOT WANT category regardless of DNA profile. I'm not going to go so far as to say that pit bulls (again, I mean dogs that get counted as pit bulls when they kill a kid) should be banned because I'm not about that life. But I don't want one in my house, I don't want one around my kids, I don't want them running loose in my neighborhood, and my spidey sense will always tingle when I see one walking his/her #PibbleLife rescue momma that is glued to her phone because her rescue baby of unknown origin will never do nuffin. ETA And again, to be completely fair, people are terrible at identifying dog breeds. We have a dog that is occasionally confused for a pit bull despite being a chow/retriever mix with a very chow face and a very retriever body. I was a little surprised the first time someone cautiously asked us if he was a pit bull as if it were going to lunge at any moment. LOL! Most people wouldn’t know an American Pit Bull Terrier (the only true “pit bull”) if they saw one up close. And they are not bred to attack humans. Human aggression was culled back in the day. These “pits” attacking are likely mostly mixes of other bully breeds or molasser type breed or zero bull dog at all. The characteristics of those breed and references to them were much different 100-120 years ago. The patterns and morphologically most often considered pits now had become a recognized issue by the 1960s, and more over the next forty years, and more so in the next twenty. You seem mad at me yet have the same opinion that there is a classic version and attributes of a type of dog breed that still exists some in classic form, But That has purposefully been changed over more than a century for a much larger portion. And now a less desirable but much more common version is out and about. (Granted a modern GSD Is not near as drastic a decrease in desirability) You seem to have some confusion with what morphology and morphologically convey. Of the top of my head, probably the latest classifications have Dogs belongIng to one of four genera Of wolf like canids ranging from one to five species each, and a lot of subspecies as well. This has had some rearranging since I was an undergrad thirty years ago, but the chromosomes remain the same. One genera with two species have 37 chromosome pairs. The other three genera / seven species all have 39 pairs and can mate together, with numerous examples in the wild, captivity, and domestically. They are very morphologically plastic. Like horses, and some other mammals, that can have an incredible Range of size, shape, etc. . While it is very politically incorrect in some mammals with geographically distinct populations and variations sharing the same number of chromosome pairs, to also recognize differences in behavior, physiologic characteristics, temperament, adaptability, intelligence, etc., it is noted and documented in various different genera, species, subspecies, and breeds of canines and other mammals such as horses, cats, livestock, etc. I’m not sure why you would think I feel the current appearances and behaviors associated with the modern type the general public most consider as pit bull dogs as being the same as an extant line true to the original. The general public will not associate the true line as “pit bulls” in the same wash they would not find a perfect example of an original GS type to be “right” because it will look so off compared to what most GSDs look like to everyone. |

Quoted: You seem mad at me yet have the same opinion that there is a classic version and attributes of a type of dog breed that still exists some in classic form, But That has purposefully been changed over more than a century for a much larger portion. Not mad at you. There is no "classic version" of a dog per se. There is the original version that comes into being when a certain breed of dog breeds true. THEN, in the case of the Pit Bull, DIFFERENT breeds of dogs , crosses and mutts where/are bred to the original Pit Bull. THEN the " classic version" as you say was not replaced nor did a " new and improved" Pit Bull morph into being. No, what happened in the case of the Pit Bull is these crosses etc. were/are still called a Pit Bull. If you breed a Lab and a Boxer the puppies are no longer a Lab or a Boxer.... they are a mix. Puppies will vary in conformation and temperament. They may all look different from one another. Hence the stupid names given designer dogs. Labradoodle, cockapoo, etc. They are neither a lab nor a poddle. They are something different. No morphing.... just "breeders" ( used in the absolute loosest sense) doing their ill advised thing. These puppies have widely varied conformation.... there is no breed standard for them. To call any canine a XXXXX breed is to suggest that it was bred with the breed standard and attributes in mind and offspring breed true. These crosses and mutts were not and should not be said to be XXXXXXX.... pick another name. And now a less desirable but much more common version is out and about. (Granted a modern GSD Is not near as drastic a decrease in desirability) See, no " less desirable " version..... something new entirely. When different breeds are bred together. You honestly can't call the puppies of an Irish Setter and Golden Retriever an Irish Setter or a Golden. You seem to have some confusion with what morphology and morphologically convey. I don't think so. I know the Pit Bull , GSD and Rottweiler didn't naturally morph into anything other than what they originally were. I do know that unscrupulous " breeders " have bred for certain traits. I know that in the case of Rotties, big blocky heads and heavy bigger dogs where deemed desirable by many stupid conformation judges. So dogs were bred for big blocky heads and large size. This was done within the breed and other breeds were not introduced to get these changes. Certain stock was bred from to get this type dog and other stock was not bred to. This gave us Rotties with short muzzles, teeth problems, breathing problems, far less athleticism, bad joints, etc. Same with the roach back GSDs. They won conformation events..... the detriment to the breed be damned. In the case of the Pit Bull, larger DIFFERENT breed dogs (often aggressive examples ) were introduced into Pit Bull lines with the hope of using the natural sought after traits and drives of the Pit Bull to create a much larger aggressive canine. In the case of the Rottie and GSD, selective breeding within the breed screwed them up. In the case of the Pit Bull, DIFFERENT breeds were introduced and the resultant dogs where/ are still called "Pit Bull" when in many cases, Pit Bull would make up little of the genetic content. Like horses, and some other mammals, that can have an incredible Range of size, shape, etc. . Sure, mongrels , mutts, crosses, etc. breed all the time in captivity and in nature but then you can't call the off spring XXXXX. You would not breed two different breeds of horses and try to pass it off as either breed.... not without problems from those that know better. You would not breed a GSD or Husky with a Wolf and sell the pups as GSDs or call them GSDs and get away with it. In the case of the Pit Bull, society says you actually can breed a Pit Bull with a Cane Corso, Dogo, Mastiff, etc. and through the ignorance and acceptance of the media and know nothing public, you can get away with it. There is no MODERN type of Pit Bull. There is only crosses and mutts and different breeds entirely. That's what you don't get. If there were a modern type as you say, it would be developed using examples WITHIN the breed...... outside breeds would not be brought in. If you did bring in outside lines you then don't have what you started with. You have something different entirely. That is what happened to the Pit Bull..... other breeds were brought in and the resulting offspring are still called Pit Bulls.......... they are not. Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: No no, maybe he's right. Maybe whatever he is referring to is actually a "pit bull" and the rest are just "pit bull lookalikes". Like horses, and some other mammals, that can have an incredible Range of size, shape, etc. |

Quoted: To be perfectly blunt, I'd say the chances of using a 5-shot revolver successfully against 5 attacking pit bulls is dicey, at best...but I'd seriously consider something magazine fed with 10-12 rounds at least. They don't hold still, and there's a good chance that by the time you've deployed that gun, at least ONE of them is on you, biting you or someone you love....meaning it's going to be a melee. Aim, capacity to aim, and clear-headed shots may (or more directly WILL) be a luxury. Any miss still leaves a good possibility you're getting mauled or dead...unless you get lucky and the shots disperse them, but I'd not count on a pit to give up the fight. Moar ammo. I loved him. He was great with us. I spent a lot of time with him when I got home from the Marines. No fucking way would I trust him around small kids or other dogs. Attached File |

Quoted: I'd wager anything that 90% of the pearl clutchers here have never spent a minute with a real Pit Bull and have very little knowledge about canine breeds and breeding programs. I detest the breed and most of the slobbering imbeciles that have them in this world, but I've certainly been around legitimate purpose bred pits (I grew up in the dog show circuit and my mom bred and board dogs). So, I guess I fit into the 10%, but even among the "good" pits I know what that animal can do, and I've been witness to it and a victim of it. And, the good breeders didn't let those dogs go to the general public....but in the weekly breed about some poor child getting their lives ruined or ended by these shit stain mess of a breed, these are not show dogs, and those dogs make up a tiny, tiny, tiny fraction of the issue. The backyard breeders, ghetto scum, and idiots who have taken the bully breeds and made a cocktail of terrible canines are what's become of it. Latest post from her mom: I’ve cried a lot in the past 36 hours. (I can’t believe that it has only been that long. Feels like weeks already. ) Tonight, I cry tears of thankfulness and relief. We are loved, cared for and at peace. She is still running fever. Still has pain. Still covered head to toe in stitches and holes and road rash. She can barely talk because her face is so swollen. But, We are together. I told her today that God may have made me a nurse just for this. I get to take care of everything with ability and confidence. It gets to be me to care for all her needs. Her team of doctors are taking such good care of her and we are communicated with and not condescended to. Those who aren’t getting to be at the bedside with her are working on her behalf where they are. It’s just as important to be help there as it is for me here. I feel God’s presence all around us. I was leaning into her and stroking her brow and telling her how beautiful and strong she is today when she told me through her stitched up lips, “I’m glad it was me, Mama, and not someone else.” Me: Yes, darling, if it had been someone smaller or much older, they might have not been able to be as strong as you. Tess: There are families that walk there, Mama. One with a little girl. What if it had been her? I’m so glad it was me. They (the dogs) won’t be able to hurt anyone else now. She is being refined by fire and coming out as gold. |

As usual, a GD Pitt thread turns into a debate on all the things that do not matter. I don't need to see the genealogy of a dog. I don't need to understand a breed standard. I don't need to use the approved terminology. A dog owner has the responsibility to contain their dog to their property and under their control. ANY large breed dog is capable of doing harm, and do so quickly. None of us should be expected to tolerate your dog. No, I don't need to know how to handle your dog. No, it has nothing to do with my comfort level or what I am telegraphing to your dog. Bite capabilities DO make a difference. I'd wager that a chihuahua is far more likely than some other dogs to bite. However, its bites practically never be life-threatening or even serious. I can't say the same for a larger breed. In a perfect world, if you let your larger breed-- of any pedigree-- wander or you do not take proper precautions to prevent its escape, you should expect it to be shot. No one owes you a warning. This discussion should not be about breed standards or even bans. It should be about risk, responsibility, and consequences. |

My old neighbor rescued a PIT and walked it every day and was complaining that she would just go crazy when seeing another dog. We were on vacation at the time and when we returned, I asked her to bring her in the yard and meet with my lazy lab who was 7 years old and would get along with any dog at a dog park. I was holding her pit on a leash, with my dog Sydney off a leash just sitting in the yard. Sydney walked over to my neighbor and when walking past myself and the pit who was panting like crazy just being in the presence, pit lunges and grabbed ahold of Sydney’s neck. This dog wasn’t even a year old so I just squeezed the shit out of its throat pinning it to the ground and my yelping lab managed to escape with a couple punctures in her neck. Yeah sorry, your dog is an asshole. She was taken back to the shelter the next day. |

Quoted: Judging from the title i thought it was gunna be 5 dobermans this time. Hope she pulls thorugh. Dobermans actually do a very little of the damage and fatalities in total. 1.6% vs 65% of the Pitbull iirc. Doesn't mean shit and that's your problem. Fucking show dog circuit. The " show dog circuits" have ruined more fucking breeds of dog than you can shake a stick at. Purpose bred pits in the show dog circuit? Fucking please there is NO SUCH THING. They breed for ONE thing , conformation ...... THAT'S it. They don't bred to better the breed or breed to the COMPLETE breed standard. Temperament takes a back seat to conformation to win those fucking ribbons so they can get big bucks from suckers and charge stud fees. I have personally had show breeds tell me that they know they breed junk and just for looks. Your experience does not impress me and tells me all I need to know about your experience. Go to some real trials where the canines are tested at EVERY level and get back to me. Show Dog Circuit FFS. " Kill bite instinct" ? What the fuck is that? Last night when I lied down to bed my hair was literally on fire over the ironic way our luxuriant English language has been decimated. In more serious thoughts though, I don’t really know how to balance freedom when 6% of dogs do 66% percent of the killing and maiming, and there is no way to get true justice type accountability, and the owners are over represented by a lack Ability for any financial form of punishment. It seems like there is some poor kid like this every week. |

What a beautiful and strong young lady. I’m very sad for her and what she is going through. I also has a pit bull run in on Sunday. I didn’t run to GD to post because these threads are always here I knew my opportunity would come about soon enough. My next door neighbor’s have a family friendly pit. It tries to eat me through the fence while the kids play in their yard. They think she is adorable. On Sunday somebody didn’t latch the gate. The dog came out and kissed both of my thighs so fast I didn’t see her until after I was bit. I was so mad because I knew the day would come. I called animal control to document but the dog is up to date on shots so it can quarantine at home. I’m ok she let go after each bite, thankfully she’s friendly and didn’t do the gator roll with my hamstring in her mouth. Next day my AC repairman is working on the same side of the house so I checked the neighbor’s gate. Nope, not latched! Half hour later I hear the Pit trying to get at the guy through the fence. The owners love their fur baby and don’t want to admit the problem. I hope they come to their senses before someone really gets hurt. |

Update from mom today It was a hard night last night and not an easy morning. She has eaten jello and some frozen yogurt today. That’s the most she has eaten so far. Calories are good right now and I’ve had to convince her of that. At first she was declining things because they had “too much sugar”. She has an iron will and it’s showing. So thankful for it even when I have to fight it because it’s going to help her through this. Her blood counts are continuing to trend downward. It is being watched closely. She may need blood later but not right now. Many have asked about donating blood for her. While your blood most likely won’t reach her, because of testing and processing, it will reach someone else who needs it. Donating blood is always a good idea and if you want to do that in Tess Lancaster’s honor, she would love that. We want as much good from this horrid situation as can be. If you give blood for her, let us know. She will be strengthened just hearing about it. |

Quoted: The psychology of pit owners/apologist is really fascinating if you think about it. Change pitbull to firearm. I think the problem started with the pitbulls from breeding true pitbulls with other breeds to make a dog that is not a pitbull but a different mutt like breed that is not the American Staffordshire terrier (pitbull) Then all the hand wringing of "OH no the pitbulls are evil" Much like the stigma against AR15's by anti gunners... |
|
Guns are inanimate objects. People fearing inanimate objects is ignorant of the people. The Pit is capable of hurting people independent of it’s owner’s intentions. My fear of the dog next door is rational because it acted aggressively prior to biting me and then it bit me when it had the opportunity. Not fearing that dog would be irrational. Any breed is capable of aggression and Pits have the reputation they deserve because the bite statistics don’t lie. |

Quoted: Do pit-bulls really commit more attacks as a breed or do we just pay more attention to those attacks? If they really are a dangerous breed cant we just sterilize all of them and just buy/own GSDs and dobermans? You can look up the numbers. They commit more attacks and the attacks they commit are far more likely to be mauling rather than bite-n-runs. ETA: Oh I see this weeks mauling victim thread defense is about how nobody can properly identify boxers vs pit bulls. Always a fan favorite. |

Quoted: Texas has "Lillian's Law" Essentially, serious injury is a third degree felony and causing death is second degree for the owner of the dogs. Lillian was a poor woman mauled to death in her front yard while her invalid husband struggled to bring a gun to bear from inside the house. As someone who has killed a great many dogs, (there used to be a bounty on feral dogs when i was a teenager) Packs will not continue an attack after shots are fired. It's the noise more than the bullets that changes their minds. I managed to shoot only one out of a pack of 10 or so that was attacking a colt, the rest immediately headed for the hills. Still had to put the colt down though. It's just not pitts, i've had to shoot a chow that tried to hamstring me in my own driveway when i was unloading the car. Chows are every bit, if not worse, than Pits. You just never see them because they are butt-fucking ugly animals. |

Quoted: AND that's the fucking problem isn't it? I know and so do others. We know that what YOU and others call a Pit Bull isn't in fact a Pit Bull..... one more time..... they are crossbred, inbred canines that were bred by people who have about as much knowledge as you do. They were most often bred to large aggressive canines. I am sure you walk around calling obvious mutts a purebred name. See an obvious mutt that resembles a boxer and it bites someone? Boxer bites again. It gets old. Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: No no, maybe he's right. LOL! You don't get it and aren't half as cute as you think you are. You missed the point entirely. Dogs that are often called and commonly called a Pit Bull DO NOT even look like a Pit Bull. Here let me help you out. THESE are real Pit Bulls and I know they aren't what YOU think a Pit Bull is. What YOU envision as a Pit Bull are those big fat heavy dogs with short muzzles that sound like pigs rooting for food. YOU don't know what a Pit is...... you think those ugly fucking aggressive mutts and cross bred abortions are Pits. You all need to stop being ignorant and contribute the problem we have to the right animals and stop believing the hype and titles the news media puts out. I know we have a problem but it isn't with "PITS". It's with the ill bred mongrels out there. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50211708747_281f23f325_o.jpgf183186808916751a8035474c335db4f by R A, on Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50211434586_5509015a3b_o.jpgOIP.kNfhLUU05WlHhsPy6aWSIAHaE9 by R A, on Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50210909138_efdf627456_c.jpg7c1ba82405386296cdb1607438398645 by R A, on Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50211708587_4a51910d3b_o.jpgOIP.jRUORx1zZKYVSc8FL5x1zwHaFj by R A, on Flickr I like how you think that you know what I think a pit bull looks like. I would have described every one of those as a pit bull. Personally, I assume that most dogs are a mixed breed of some sort. Most people in rural suburbia don't go to a breeder to shell out hundreds or thousands of dollars for a pure bred, let alone a pure bred APBT. When they do, it's usually for a GSD or a working dog of some sort. The bleeding hearts that actually want a pit bull tend to stick to the rescue dogs of unknown origin. Now let me help you out because you seem to be missing my point entirely. Nobody cares if it is a 100% American Pit Bull Terrier or an American Staffordshire Terrier or some "ill bred mongrel" that nom nommed their baby sister. You know exactly what people mean when they refer to a "pit bull". A rose by any other name... AND that's the fucking problem isn't it? I know and so do others. We know that what YOU and others call a Pit Bull isn't in fact a Pit Bull..... one more time..... they are crossbred, inbred canines that were bred by people who have about as much knowledge as you do. They were most often bred to large aggressive canines. I am sure you walk around calling obvious mutts a purebred name. See an obvious mutt that resembles a boxer and it bites someone? Boxer bites again. It gets old. The problem is you are arguing semantics while ignoring the greater discussion. You know what people mean when they say pit bulls are shit dogs. I know what people mean when they say pit bulls are shit dogs. Everyone knows that those "pit bulls" probably aren't 100% pure bred APBTs. If we acknowledge that these so-called "pit bulls" are actually "mixed breed dogs resembling pit bulls" does that make you feel better?. Fine, from this point forward if I say "pit bull" I mean "dog that resembles a pit bull". Does that solve anything? No. Will that child's parents rest easy that the dog wasn't a 100% DNA match to APBTs? No. Are you totally missing the forest for the trees? Yes. |

Quoted: Thank you. Most people wouldn't know an American Pit Bull Terrier (the only true "pit bull") if they saw one up close. And they are not bred to attack humans. Human aggression was culled back in the day. These "pits" attacking are likely mostly mixes of other bully breeds or molasser type breed or zero bull dog at all. In the same way we what we refer to as pits is not what was a perfect pit 100 years ago, What we call a GSD is very different than they were 100 years ago. https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu220/ramairfour/527F9131-4668-4D33-AC40-FA857E152B99_zpsdgaua1yv.jpeg |

(WTVA) - Alcorn County investigators arrested the owner of several dogs that attacked and injured a teenager during the weekend. Investigators arrested Jack Harrelson, 65, of Corinth, Monday afternoon. They charged him with aggravated assault by manifesting extreme indifference, according to Alcorn County Sheriff Ben Caldwell. The dogs attacked Tess Lancaster. | Source: Darla Nash Citing multiple incidents of aggression shown by his dogs, investigators say Harrelson knew or should have known of the danger associated with allowing the dogs to remain free without being under his control. The sheriff says even though Alcorn County does not have a leash law, the owners of animals are still responsible for their animals’ actions. The dogs will be tested for rabies and then put down, the sheriff said Monday. The attack happened Sunday morning as Tess Lancaster was running along County Road 173. A nearby woman delivering mail used mace to scare away the dogs. Related - Dogs attacked young woman Sunday in Alcorn County The sheriff said Lancaster sustained injuries to her head and face. Lancaster will need plastic surgery, her grandmother told WTVA. Lancaster is a recent graduate of Alcorn Central High School and class valedictorian. |
