Quoted: The lowers will transfer as other, by definition. You could build it as a rifle, or as a shotgun. You could chop the buttstock off and build a pistol or a 26" smoothbore firearm. I don’t think you will be able to chop the Butt stock off and still have a functional firearm. You can’t add any kind of buffer tube to it as the buffer and spring probably rides in a cavity formed by the two halves of the assembled stock. No way to really make a pistol out of it that I can see. Mag well is sized for 5.56 mags so still need adapters for pistol mags. |

So easily doable if you have a Dremel and enjoy the sweet smell of overheated nylon. |

It isn’t about what the frame or receiver can become, it’s about what the firearm IS at the point of transfer. A firearm without a barrel cannot be a rifle, pistol, shotgun, or revolver. Even the 4473 explains this. Question 16. Type of Firearm(s): "Other" refers to frames, receivers and other firearms that are neither handguns nor long guns (rifles or shotguns), such as firearms having a pistol grip that expel a shotgun shell, or National Firearms Act (NFA) firearms, including silencers. If a frame or receiver can only be made into a long gun (rifle or shotgun), it is still a frame or receiver not a handgun or long gun. However, frames and receivers are still "firearms" by definition, and subject to the same GCA limitations as any other firearms. See Section 921(a)(3)(B). Section 922(b)(1) makes it unlawful for a licensee to sell any firearm other than a shotgun or rifle to any person under the age of 21. Since a frame or receiver for a firearm, to include one that can only be made into a long gun, is a "firearm other than a shotgun or rifle," it cannot be transferred to anyone under the age of 21, nor can these firearms be transferred to anyone who is not a resident of the State where the transfer is to take place. Also, note that multiple sales forms are not required for frames or receivers of any firearms, or pistol grip shotguns, since they are not "pistols or revolvers" under Section 923(g)(3)(A). |

Even the 4473 explains this. Doesn’t matter to me how it’s Technically defined when I get it. I leave that up to the FFL I get it from. This particular receiver/stock can really be only made into a rifle so I don’t care what they classify it as. |

If they think they're doing a modernized version of the original concept - then I want to see the weapon put through the same trials the original adopted version went through. If that new design passes those trials, I might be interested. Putting the weapon into a mud puddle doesn't count.

Quoted: Dunno. Any A1 or A2 compatible buttplate should bolt up to the Cav Arms Mk2/Sabre/GWACS/KE Arms Mk 3. yeah, but I'm trying to do this cheap ![]() Cav Mfg is completely MIA. Numrich is like 8 weeks to ship orders I've got orders in with both, we'll see what ships and when. |

I think it is awesome that this core design is still alive and getting new life too! I’m looking forward to these. I’ve had a few Cavarms lowers over the years and they’ve all been great. Still have one in FDE and one of the Sabre Defense blowouts in black of course. Can’t wait to see how these turn out. You get a lot of features already built in at this price. |

Quoted: Is cav MFG still in business? I thought they shut down years ago. Cav Arms got shut down by BATFE. Cav Mfg got some of the molds and continued production of some of the furniture. GWACS got the lower molds and continued production until they went under. KE Arms is run by SinistralRifleman, who worked at Cav Arms back in the day. |

I've got an FDE pre-ordered at Brownells. For some reason, KE doesn't sell them on their own site. They're supposed to ship this month, but who knows when. Any idea if we'll get a warning before they ding our cards and ship? Want to make sure the money's there when needed. |

Quoted: What in the actual fuck? Quoted: What in the actual fuck? Have a friend who's... let's just call him eccentric. He likes orky things. Weird things. Has been known to go out in public dressed like a LARPer. That is an ork blasta I built for him from the pistolized Sabre lower I got from Backbencher in the "That Every Man be Armed" thread. The goal was to provide people without arms a functioning AR, chambered in 5.56 that they could use when/if needed. The ork blasta meets those criteria, and my friend loves the shit out of it. 10.5" barrel, obviously not designed to shoulder stock. made of galvanized pipe, some copper spacers, and a shit ton of epoxy over the original Sabre tube. Over 26" long, just in case. The red dot is cheap, but functional, and hasn't fallen off yet, so I'm calling it good. Really, the only thing left to do is to finish cutting the holes in the exhaust pipe forearm and clamp it on. But the pistol is functional without it. ETA: It is possible that, when the Boog kicks off, he may be the furry in your squad, and he'll be rocking that blasta.

Quoted: But what is the heat gun for? Pretty sure it was a separate project, although I don't remember what exactly. This was a little over a year ago. I do remember that I had other irons in the fire, and was taking care of other things while the blasta was sitting there with the multiple layers of epoxy curing. |
