Old movies are my thing, and if you haven't experienced the magic that was pre-1950 Hollywood, you don't know what you're missing. For example, the finest movie ever filmed, The Best Years of Our Lives, profoundly moving and absolutely captivating story of men returning from war. A clip:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCE6BeYJEtE

It isn't an action movie, so maybe not as popular with GD, but for sheer depth of character and technical brilliance (I believe it won seven Academy Awards), I cannot recommend it more highly.

A quick video review, well done:

It's historical accuracy was one of that flick's long suits. Add great cast, great performances, and a great storyline...and it is rightfully a classic.

Seems to me there are very few 'perfect' movies. If I had to list five more, they'd be:

The Searchers

The Grapes of Wrath

Saving Private Ryan

Dr. Strangelove

Kingsman: The Secret Service  (
)

There are way more that come close, but come up short of perfection.

Exactly what came to mind for me as well

That movie had everything, and is the finest date movie ever made.

The Blues Brothers is another perfect movie, at least in my mind
