I think this entire subject starts from a western belief that there can be objective truth.

I honestly believe objective truth exists. However, such a grand concept is going to take a fuck ton of energy to figure out, and we have to understand that in this search for truth it may be generations before we can find answers.

Ty fren. This is really old. There's some schitzo stuff I've read about Darwin and the social gospel.

Tl;dr Darwin puts forth this pretty good study. No one challenges it, first of all, which is key to science, but furthermore a large amount of Christian preachers instantly view this as a threat and are like "oh jk Jesus wasn't real but we should like act like him or something lol"

Which is why you have tranny flags and trash today.

Put differently, someone should have said "Oh awesome, thanks for helping me understand the world around me. Christ is king"

Or "I don't buy this, I'm going to do my own study of these facts". But the fact of the matter is, neither of these things actually happened, and instead you had an erosion of Christianity. Moving forward, we see similar things with science such as (most blatantly) "trust the science". When in reality that means we should be questioning the shit out of it.

Long rant long, both science and Christianity are in danger from retards who don't know shit about either. And if we embraced both in an honest search for truth we would all probably be a lot happier

Real is an interesting word choice, but an important one.

Weather is real, and we can affect the weather but we can't control it. Dogs are real, and we can create new breeds of dogs, but we can't invent dogs.

Vegetables are real, and we can hybridize some of them but we can't invent an entirely new type of vegetable like potatoes on a vine.

Humans are subcreators, beneath an actual creator. So there's lots we can do but there's lots of stuff we can't do or can't control. Mortality has been a thing humanity has been obsessed with for millenia but being as we're mortal creatures, we're not going to overcome it. On the flip side, many feral animals live longer lives under human care because we are able to give them a better life than they would have in nature.

So a huge part of this entire argument is what you believe, how you believe it, and what you have observed.

At any point in your life, have you known it all?

Why claim now?

Oh, you don’t know everything? Then how can you be so sure in this thread?

I was like you until I was 34.

Met my deceased brother in law for the first time, spoke to my kid 2 years after he or she was miscarried at 3 months and my step dad visited me 2 weeks after he passed, he was wearing his favorite shirt, hair flowing and a pure whit energy background.

All were beautiful moments and have been blessings. Wish my unborn kid had more time.

My mom passed unexpectedly when she was 50 and I was 18. It  was me and both my parents living in TX at the time. When she passed my dad and I called my older sister in NV and older brother in CA to share the bad news. They booked flights immediately and we drove to the airport and picked them up at like 8am the next morning. We were all sitting in the garage (dad smokes cigars) crying and telling stories about mom.

My sisters cell phone rings from an unknown number and she answers and it was just a dead line. My sister says that is really odd. After 15 mins or so, she says wait something is weird. My mom had called her several weeks before and told her about a TV show she had watched. It was the physic John Edwards who would have people on his show who had lost loved ones and he would try to talk to them. The show mom watched was a daughter who lost her mom and she would get calls from unknown numbers and it was always a dead line. Edwards told the daughter it was the mom calling to say she OK. My mom told my sister if something ever happens to her she will call and let her know she is OK.

Over the next hour.
House phone. Unknown, deadline.
Dads cell. Unknown, dead line.
My cell. Unknown, dead line.
Brothers cell. Unknown, dead line.
The final call was to my sister's husband. Unknown, dead line. We all just kinda said we got the message mom and none of us has had a similar call in 22 years.

4 different area codes and 6 calls in an hours time. I have never been able to explain it.

I'm no cop or medic but the amount of evil shit I've seen just on the internet and police footage has made me believe demonic possessions are real.

I've had a few moments that were just plain creepy, I don't think they were paranormal or anything but they were odd. Mostly recently this one.

The house I live in now I've lived in three times. It was built by my grandfather, a contractor for his entire life, specifically for my mother. I lived here once when I was 4 and moved out when my parents split up when I was 6, I lived here again when I was 18 and left when I was 19 and lost my job, and I've lived here for the third time since July 2023.

The first night I slept in this house in July last year, there was literally nothing in the entire house except my bedroom and the kitchen. Empty rooms. I hadn't finished moving my stuff in yet. But at like 1am, the bedroom next to mine had something crash so loud and hard it shook the floor. I think I stared at the door with my AR pointed at it for at least an hour before I went to check what the fuck it was. Nothing. Checked the entire house. There was nothing in the entire house that could have made that noise short of something tipping over the fridge and that was on the complete other side of the house and the fridge hasn't moved at all since I've been here.

To this day I have no idea what the hell it was and I still get weird vibes from that room and from my laundry room. My grandfather has used this place as a rental since my parents split up and there's been all sorts of people in here, I have no clue what they could have or would have done between the times I've been here.

One night mid February in 2014 I had a really creepy experience.

A 15 year old autistic kid stepped out onto his front porch completely naked when it was 10 degrees outside and started pissing everywhere.

No exaggeration it looked like a babies arm grasping an apple.

Scariest shit I ever saw.

Zero, nada, zilch.

Almost my entire career was patrol, afternoon and night shifts.

Seen far more than I wanted to of human depravity and suffering, but never saw a single supernatural thing.

And I don’t recall anybody telling any spooky stories about that kind of thing either.

Not trying to be a dick to you either.  But in most circumstances a single person's recollection of any events is usually the least correct source of factual information.

Unbiased corroboration or better yet clear video footage much more accurately tells any story than one person recalling a personal experience.

Any cop will be able to tell you tons of stories where people swear to have seen something that is entirely impossible in a given circumstance.

It's not a reflection on you but it's the way our human brains work sometimes subconsciously trying to organize and make sense of incomplete information while also contending with our emotional state.

Going from some viewpoints and need to scientifically prove things, gravity doesn't exist.   We can't see it, we have no idea how it works, we don't know how much there is.  We have an approximation that works for most areas on Earth and we know it is related to the mass of an object, as near as we can tell.  We're too close, guessing the mass of the moon from the tides is another thing with gravity.   We can calculate it to a good approximation but it leaves a whole lot of the universe as "Dark Matter".    Since we can't see it, taste it, touch it, or define how it works, it isn't real holding it up to the same standards some look at the paranormal.   We're too close to the problem, we can't just hop out into interstellar space and see if it is different there, so we're in the dark, not even knowing if it's a steady force or a sort of wave (Recently LIGO satellite near Sun detected a "wave" of gravity, but it's still an anomaly and not well understood)

I think the topic is deliberately mocked and pigeon holes ALL psychic/paranormal phenomenon as a 5 year old being afraid of the boogeyman in his closet or under the bed and just something silly people grow out of.   That works extremely well, and nobody looks at what actually has been accomplished in double blind tests.  We can define it about was well as gravity, but we don't know how repeatable it is the way we do with gravity, as it's different for each person while gravity affects everybody - which means people will accept it even if we don't know much about it.

Take the time to read the serious information on the topic, instead of the mainstream ghosts/paranormal "Wow Look!" shows.  Some people experience things which are impossible with our current view on how things work.  We don't know why it works, it's not supposed to.   Like dogs running across several states to get back to their owner when they moved to a new place that didn't allow dogs.   Then their dog shows up at their door.   It has happened enough to make you go WTF?!?  (Well, me for sure anyway...)

I was a new cop, first night shift on FTO in a small town in Texas. The first call of the night was a vehicle vs. pedestrian on a poorly lit road just outside of town.
Me and the FTO arrived on scene and found the town drunk(Phelix) was riding his bicycle on the poorly lit and had been hit by a 1 ton Dodge pickup truck with a huge brush guard
on the front. The truck had launched poor Phelix and his bicycle about 20 plus yards forward of the impact site in the air. We could see where Phelix had landed on the roadway from the chunks of his skin on the asphalt. The impact killed Phelix, broke his bicycle in three pieces, but didn't break his two bottles of Ole English 40's.

Shortly after clearing the previous call , we were dispatched to the local hospital ER in reference to a combative patient. We arrived at the hospital and were directed by the staff to a room in the ER. Me and the FTO walked into the room and we observed three nurses and a doctor struggling to restrain a completely naked female patient to the bed. We helped the staff restrain the female to the bed, it was at this time i noticed the female was speaking in very demonic voice, very similar, if not exactly like the movie "The Exorcist". After talking to her for a mere 30 seconds, I came to the conclusion that the female's head was about to start spinning, just like the movie. At this time the female looked over at my FTO and stated in a very demonic voice
"I want to bite your penis off" to my FTO. I could hold my laughter in at this point and excused myself from the room, right as a nurse shot some tranquilizer into her arm.

I had this pop up in my YouTube feed, I got to thinking, we have a few cops on this site and according to the comments in in this video from people who claim to be current or former cops, these paranormal events are common.

So, to our cops and medics here, are paranormal events, especially at crash, murder or suicide scenes common?

I spoke with a homicide detective here a few years ago, he had a lot of crime scene pics on his phone that he showed me, he said he's never seen or felt anything strange on the job. What's ARFCOM's experience?

He is no longer a detective, he's since retired and he made it very clear that he shouldn't be showing us what he was showing us, but he married into the family and we were all having a good old conversation and the war stories started coming out and the pics to illustrate said stories, it happens.

He showed us pics of the body of a gang member who had recently been removed from this World by 12 gauge. It had been in the news recently so we all knew about it.

A suicide which looked like a murder (The body's hands were tied behind his back and he was thrown into a river where drowned - I can't remember how they worked out it was a suicide - I know the guy had made like 3 or 5 attempts in the past, I think he left a video at home showing how he was able to tie rope and get his hands in there behind his back).

and the last one was nuts.

An old lady died in her home, she was wearing a pale blue dress, the initial pics are of her in a hallway, well lighten, face down, no blood, no mess, the house is clean, simply looks like she is sleeping on the floor, the next pic, they role over and she has no face, she has hair, and the skin around the edges of her hair line but no face, just raw meat and no eyes, just empty sockets, no nose or lips, just looked like a red / raw meat scull. The weird part, there was no blood, none, not one drop on the carpet, her hair or clothing, to this day they don't know how it happened, she died of natural causes and the medical people said her face came off after she died but know one knows how and why there was not one single trace of it, they think either insects or a cat ate it (No sign in the pics of any chew marks though), but that doesn't explain the lack of a mess or how a cat would've eaten her face off and then rolled her over. Like I said, no mess, not one drop of blood anywhere and no sign of entry into the home (It was a welfare check because she hadn't been heard from for a week).

Never. However one of the hospitals I used to cover in was unsettling. Paint peeling from a basically abandoned floor, glass iv bottles left in rooms etc. and every so often a random person walking through at 0200 from the sleep study up there. They had since painted it and fixed it up.

I would hear stories from guys like a haunted ambulance station grabbing people and such, but honestly I just don’t believe in it. And I have seen more death than I deserve.

A buddy of mine, (who passed away 20 years ago), long ago told me that when he was a cop in Arvada, he and his partner got called to the city morgue. Of course, it was one of those dark and stormy nights. He told me it was a large Gothic looking building, creepy in daylight. They pulled up in the rain, and the power went out. They walked up to the door, Andy pulled it open and it made that creepy "eeeeEEEEeee" sound like in bad horror movies. His partner looked at him and yelled, "I've SEEN this movie, and we don't survive!"
He said he was laughing so hard he literally fell down in the gutter.
Central Unit in Florence was widely regarded as being haunted, George in CB 3, an old Indian in CB 4, and two fallen officers heard in the attic of CB 2. Oddly enough, George was credited with saving a few officers from violent assault - he was supposed to be an officer who worked there in the 1940s. I never saw, heard, or felt anything there, even when I sat in the gas chamber chair. Nada. I know several people who said they saw or felt things, like one LT who went in the key tunnels in CB3 and something yanked on her keys, apparently trying to pull her off the steps - it's a LONG fall. Apparently George doesn't like supervisors, which made most staff like him even more. Now that it's completely closed, ya gotta wonder what he's doing, sitting by himself on the stairs moping about nobody to mess with.

Inmates used to cover their cell fronts in CB3 because they claimed some guy was walking by at night and looking in, (which we did, very often), but this guy was wearing a Maintenance uniform from the 70s. Nobody else but inmates ever reported seeing that guy, so I figured it was just a ploy to get gullible staff let them keep the cell front covered, big no-no.
Only thing I've seen even REMOTELY creepy like that is the men's room in the building I work in right now has a faucet that would sometimes turn on and off for no reason. I was using the facilities a couple of weeks ago, when it turned on, and I said, "Hey, turn that off, you're wasting water", and it shut off. Never came back on again. Ya know, ya gotta feel sorry for someone who ends up haunting a restroom...you REALLY pissed off someone on The Other Side to get stuck with crap detail for eternity.

I'm not in those professions, but I experienced something unusual.

We, my wife and I, arrived at my in-laws apartment about 18 hrs after my FIL died there under hospice care.   We had a shitty night's sleep on a dead a dead air mattress.

The next day, wife, MIL, SIL went off on some errands.

I tried to grab some sleep in my MIL's recliner which sat next to the (now removed) hospice bed in the living room.

Pud, the cat, joined me on my lap.

As I dosed, in that state between awake and sleep, I saw my FIL standing in the room.  No acknowledgment.  No interaction. He was just standing there, where his bed used to be.

I believe I saw a shadow of him.  Some part of him or his spirit had yet to move on.

He was in the room though, clear as day.

If you've ever read the book What Dreams May Come, something similar to what you are describing is presented in it.  When someone dies, their soul - their real soul - does not stick around to haunt people, because it can't.  It's "against the rules." However, their is some sort of residual, nascent facsimile of them that remains behind for some period of time.  It is able to interact with mediums to a limited extant.

The CIA has been investigating/utilizing remote viewing for decades.

How long were magnetic compasses in use before someone could explain how they worked?

You don't have to explain the fundamental nature of something in order to use it.
