One night I was alone in the old nurses station of a closed ICU that had been set up to monitor telemetry throughout the hospital. It was about 0200 and I was thinking about how many people had died in that little cluster of rooms over the years when I got hit with a sudden blast of frigid air…

Turns out that the telemetry setup was situated under a huge vent. The air conditioner kicked on at the perfect time to make me almost shit myself. That’s the closest I ever came to seeing anything paranormal.

I spent about 8 years on nights, never saw anything I thought was paranormal.   I worked with guys that wouldn't go in cemeteries at night, I always did since it was the perfect place to take a piss.

Town next over to where I worked would get 911 on calls occasionally from an old abandoned house, some times when they checked the exterior of the house they would note a light on upstairs, later on shift as they drove by they would notice that the light would be out. Heard a few stories about how a blue light would emit from the room while they drove by the house. No signs of entry let alone forced.

The town where I worked you'd hear stories of shadows being seen as you'd take the patrol car in the cemetery. I never experienced anything.

When I worked for the power company, from time to time we would get phantom 911 calls from an old house on the power company's property that they used as a place for meetings.......every time we checked it the place was locked up tight as a jug and no signs of entry were ever found

Test the Spirits 1 John 4
4 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, 3 and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already

we've already done this topic many times.

hauntings are definitely real. they're mostly out of spec ww2 fans. they used to be speced to 20 hz but then wear and tear brought them to 19 hz. the problem is that this is the resonance of the human eye, which causes people to see 'shadows' and shapes. many of the hauntings and spirits immediately are exorcised when the property owners buy new fans. it's not spirits of people, it's motorized air systems.

other ones are similar. the usa military actually noted that some microwave frequencies can cause fear or anxiety. there were attempts to militarize this but it ultimately was inconsistent enough to be used. something like 25% of the population would exhibit mild symptoms 50% of the time. so kind of useless. in fact, the usa military actually documented all the frequency ranges, like 16..17 was fear, but 17..18 would either be happiness or loneliness. this was ineffective because rather than spend millions on a sustainable microwave at long range to maybe cause fear in some, it was simpler to drop an actual bomb for thousands and cause real fear.

My Dad who was a police officer back in the day used to tell a story about a Lenexa KS cemetery. The cemetery had a business of some kind(funeral home maybe) or a church on the property.
They would get late night alarm calls and show up. He said that they would arrive and find a door unlocked. Quietly enter and hear a woman crying farther back in the building. As they would proceed into the building the crying would stop. They would search the entire building and find nothing.

This apparently happened a few times over a 15-20 year period in the 80s/90s.

One of my very first calls was a welfare check. This couple didn’t show up for church so someone from either the church or family called in the request. The house was way out in the country where we barely get any calls.

I knock on the front door and no answer. I start walking around the exterior of the house. A  side door that lead inside was standing open. There was a car parked right there also and its door was standing open. There was a box of ammo on the drivers seat. The little tray was pulled halfway out and some rounds were missing.

I walk to the back of the house. There were two large glass doors allowing you to see into the living room on the right and a kitchen to the left.

There were two people sitting on the sofa and the TV was on. From where I was I could only see the back of their heads. The female’s head was tilted down towards her lap. The male’s head was facing up towards the ceiling. Initially i’m thinking they fell asleep watching TV. But they didn’t respond when I knocked. The door was unlocked so opened it and started announcing myself.  Still no response or movement. With the door open I could see them a little more clear and notice blood on the females shirt. And i think some on the sofa around the guy.  I called for a second unit to head my way.

I walked inside and around the couch. It was a pretty bad sight. Both had gunshot wounds to the head. The males hand was in his lap and holding a gun. It was later determined to be a murder/suicide. The husband shot his wife in the back of head. Then he sat next to her and shot himself through the mouth.

Now for the spooky part. As I was standing there I heard what sounded someone ransacking another room. So I draw my Glock and move back the doorway where I entered and hold that hallway where the noise was coming from. The only way for this person to exit the house would be through  me or one of the bedroom/bathroom window. I knew from walking around the exterior prior that there were only two screened in windows.

When my back up unit arrived we started clearing the house.  Down the hallway where I heard the noise, there was a bathroom and I think two bedrooms. I fully expected to find a living person, but nothing. We roped it off as a crime scene and all those units came and did their thing.

To this day I wonder what the F that was. I was clearly hearing  someone ransacking one area of a room. Then stomping to the other side of the room and ransacking something else. Ignoring my call outs.

15 years in the hospital, first 4 years on nights.  The unit I started in was a step down/intermediate care unit.  It was the old labor and delivery unit that had been remodeled a few years prior to me starting there.
The rooms had cameras installed to monitor patients at risk for falls, seizures, normal stuff the hospitals try to prevent if they can.
So we had one hall that joined the east and west units. The west unit in the very last room between 0200-0400 pretty routinely the movement alarm monitor would go off and there would be what looks like a haze on the camera monitor in the room.  You could be standing outside the room looking in and not see anything. Keep in mind the room would be empty.  But on the video monitor it would look like a haze or fog on the monitor screen.  We saw this for years, maintenance cleaned the camera lense several times and replaced the room monitor camera and still it would happen.

The hallway that connected the east and west unit some nights you would see something out of the corner of your eye.  Almost like a small shadow say 3 ft tall or around there. Turn your head to look and nothing there.  Several of the nurses I worked with had said they had seen a little girl there at random times but she would disappear, they would just see her and she would vanish.

That’s all I got for right now.

I was channel flipping one night and came upon a show about how various natural phenomena interacting with certain aspects of your nervous system could cause everything from deep uneasiness to outright fear and even hallucinations in susceptible people. They had stage magicians talking about how easily lead our attention is which leads to the "magical" effect of sleight of hand and other illusions. The segment I found most interesting was how certain movements in very large rock formation, like cracking or shifting, could produce magnetic fields. Since this is relatively common, it was postulated as a source of altered mental states(presumably like the trans-cranial stimulation being experimented with now for both depression and enhanced learning).

So they conducted an experiment where they generated different magnetic fields on subjects and asked them to describe what they felt and or saw.
There was quite a range of responses. From uneasiness, fear or feeling like they were in the presence of the divine to outright visual hallucinations. People variously reported seeing ghosts, angels and gray aliens or simply something that they knew was at the edge of their vision but couldn't be seen.

It was interesting and seemed to be non-sensationalist. This was late 90s before TLC, Discovery and others turned to the pre-digested pap they are now.

I moonlight as a paramedic and working EMS you will see all kinds of creepy and fucked up things. Every shift I go in I do so with the knowledge that there is a good chance my face will be the last or first thing a person sees as they leave or enter this world. The one that sends a chill up my spine though happened last year while I was still doing clinicals. We received a call to a nursing home for a unresponsive 87 year old woman. When we picked her up it was obvious she was not long for this world. She coded three times on us before we got her to the ER. What freaked me out though was when she became responsive briefly during transport. I was starting an IV and she just sprang to life, grabbed my arm with a strength unholy for a frail old woman, looked me square in the eye and in a raspy, guttural way quietly screamed my name. The look in her eyes was unlike anything I had seen before or since. It felt like she was starring straight into my soul.

What is so disturbing about that is that during no point had I introduced myself to her as she was unresponsive. Also being a dumb student I had forgotten my ID badge that day as well. I had never worked her before as a patient, nor meet her that I can recall in any capacity. Could be she mistook me for somebody else by the same name but it sure seemed meant for me. She died less than an hour after admission. To this day I still remember everything about that call like it just happened and it makes my blood run cold to remember her face and the way she called to me. Sometimes I close my eyes and still see that face.

I'm not a cop, but I've experienced paranormal events.

Even came face to face with a now convicted serial killer dressed as a wildlife officer and unknown to me at the time of the encounter. I experienced a couple events while hunting in the very area he buried and possibly killed victims.

Small excerpt of the killer

A hunter accidentally stumbled onto a graveyard behind the WestFarms shopping mall in West Hartford. Three bodies were found, belonging to 55-year-old Diane Cusack, 23-year-old Joyvaline Martinez, and 40-year-old Mary Jane Menard
They were all later discovered to be Howell’s victims.

The Hotel segment with the woman screaming reminds me of a possible crime or my imagination.

Years ago I stayed at a Holliday Inn at Hattiesburg, MS.

While sleeping, I had a dream I was standing in that very rooms shower, looking down at my feet and bloody clothes on the bottom of the tub.

Then I looked up and saw 2 men entering the bathroom with evil smiles on their faces.

The last thing I remember was looking in the mirror behind them and it wasn't me in the reflection.  It was a beat up and bloody woman standing in the tub.

I've never before or since then dreamed I was ever anybody else.  I always dreamed as me.

At that moment I woke up and sat up in bed.  I went back to sleep but told my creepy story to the guy working the front desk, asking if anything bad ever happened in that room.  He said no.

Let me say I do not believe in ghosts.

Believe aliens more likely.

However.....

One night on patrol was assigned a call of a guy walking down a remote road with a gas can.  It was terribly cold and a passerby was concerned for the guy. Not sure why they didn't stop, but whatever.

I'm cruising along, see him, pass by to find a place to turn around. "321, have located that subject....wearing dark pants, dark jacket, ball cap, carrying red gas can...turning around to check same". Gave approximate location, turned around.

Got back to where I saw him. Gone. No shit. I kept looking, and nothing.  Cleared the call. Kept checking that road when I got a chance. Nothing.

Later that night, same subject, further up the road, different unit. Same result.  Described by 324 the exact same way.  Gone when he turned around.

At shift change, 423 (incoming day shift) got same call, same road, same general area. Before he could get to the area, several other callers called in same description, same area. Multiple times.

Never located.

I remember that one

House across the road from me. Husband and wife both died in the house years apart.

Mrs. Popa told me that she would hear footsteps upstairs and when she opened the door she could see legs at the top of the stairs that would then move away. She was convinced it was her husband.

After Mrs. Popa died the house was cleaned out and empty. Doors had been secured with padlocks. Power was turned off. I saw lights moving in the house and called the law. It was about 75 degrees that evening and I went across the road to wait for the law. I walked about fifteen feet up the drive and thought I was freezing. Stopped right there and waited for police. Cops came, he felt the cold also and couldn't understand why. I was going to beat feet home but the officer asked me to stay with him. The house was secure and looking through all the windows nothing could be seen.

A couple months later before the house was even on the market a group of people were in the drive. I went across to find out what was up. They knew the house was empty and had hoped to find out if it would be going up for sale. I told them nobody was supposed to be here and they should leave. (Family had asked me to keep an eye on the place.) The girl with them said that someone is here, there is an old man looking out of the upstairs window at them but wouldn't answer the door. I told her it was Mr. Popa and he had died 30 years ago. When they figured out I was serious they left never to be seen again.

I worked at a newly opened urgent care and we had a resident spirit . You would at times see a mist floating in the hallways. One afternoon I was sitting at my computer talking with our doctor and we both saw the mist float fast from the right corner to the left corner near the ceiling. The doctor freaked out and said what the fuck was that , I laughed and told him it was our resident ghost. He said bullshit so I had the office staff come back and tell him what they had seen. I don’t know the history of the building but it was built on land grants from the revolutionary war.

I was a patrol cop / supervisor for 10 years.  I've seen everything from people dying to dead for weeks. Growing up, my yard backed up to a cemetery, and the house was allegedly haunted.  I've been to several "extremely haunted" locations across the Midwest.

I've never had a single paranormal experience.

Die-hard believers say I'm just not "in tune" but they never have any good evidence, either.  Apparently, my expensive equipment was also less susceptible to spiritual influence than their cheap stuff.

other ones are similar. the usa military actually noted that some microwave frequencies can cause fear or anxiety. there were attempts to militarize this but it ultimately was inconsistent enough to be used. something like 25% of the population would exhibit mild symptoms 50% of the time. so kind of useless. in fact, the usa military actually documented all the frequency ranges, like 16..17 was fear, but 17..18 would either be happiness or loneliness. this was ineffective because rather than spend millions on a sustainable microwave at long range to maybe cause fear in some, it was simpler to drop an actual bomb for thousands and cause real fear.

Some people can see them and some cannot.  Members of a family will have half not seeing it but having it show up on a video recording while the members can see it in the video but couldn't see it in real life when the video was recorded.

It's sort of similar to how ESP and "sensitivity" to some other dimension that gives people intuition/gut feelings which always get put on point in military patrols.   There's a lot of "Trust your gut" instinct, no rational reason for it to be real and existing, but expressed often enough to lose out by ignoring it and suffering consequences.

Seeing paranormal phenomenon could be similar to people having stronger or weaker "gut instinct", even if it isn't the exact same mechanism, it's a basis for people to be aware of various things they can't explain why.

I've dealt with some truly evil people that made me believe in demonic possession.

Went on an electrical problem call not long ago. The wind had taken down a weather head and this girl only had a single leg of power coming into the house so things were acting up. House was dark and she met us at the front door and was friendly. I went in to kill the breakers until the power company could come raise the line and an electrician could install a new weather head.

Anyway, from the moment I saw the dark house, I had an uneasiness. Almost sick to my stomach. Went in and did my thing then came out and noticed all sorts of books on witchcraft and macabre decor.

Occasionally I’ll meet a schizophrenic that gives me the same feeling. Not sure if it’s something I’m truly feeling or just a coincidence.

Imaginations that show up on the video recording but not seen in real life?  Could be something like the effect of counting how many people catch the ball and miss the gorilla walking slowly through the frame, though.

The first time my parents left me alone for an extended amount of time, I was on the phone in the kitchen and heard a crash in the living room. This was the early 90’s when no one locked their doors or worried about intruders, front door was open with the storm door closed but not locked. I thought someone was in the house so I ran upstairs and called my neighbors father to come check. He came over and looked around and found a vase from a shelf in the living room on the floor. It was a fairly large vase, I don’t think there’s any way it could have just fell off the shelf. That’s the only time I’ve ever been really afraid. The only weird experience, possible paranormal thing that’s ever happened to me.
