3rd gen Glock or M&P.

I've shot a lot of plastic pistols but only own a Glock 19.

I gotta admit I basically liked them all...........they were all pretty easy to shoot half way decently, which is all I am capable of anyways.

I carry and compete with Glocks (19, 17, 30S & 21SF), my wife carries and competes with an M&P c and a full size M&P, both 9mm. A lot of my friends and fellow IDPA shooters carry/compete with XD & XDms. I see them have some problems with them every now and then. I tried the XDm, but didn't care for it.

I've never shot an M&P so I have no opinion on that brand.  I believe Glock has a simpler and overall better design.  Add to this the aftermarket and LE support for the Glock and there is no competition.

Can't go wrong with Glock, HK, FNP, or M&P

There are enough good brands to use one that best fits your hands and naturally points the best for you.

Glock with the hump pushed in. The M&P a close second with Apex parts. I'd skip the XD's. FN worked good but mags are expensive and not as much support.

Had all 4.

Exactly, which for me goes something like this

CZ P07
Glock
M&P

I had an XD and didn't like it at all. I'd be happy with any of the three listed above.

Anyway, I was thinking of getting either a full size competition model like G34, or a carry model like a G26 for my next pistol.

Got one of the Austrian made G19's that came in about 5 years ago and it shoots great.

Hand size,  and bore height vs how you naturally aim should be factored and the only way you do that is shoot all the potential pistols.

For me its S&W M&P.  Out of the four pistols XD, USP, Glock, and the M&P.  The smith was way more accurate for me.   The USP was a close 2nd.

Triggers all suck from the factory, but really How much Koolaid do you have to drink to say a Glock trigger is better than a M&P?

I have HK,Walther,Glock,S&W and SIG plastic guns.

The Swiss frame/German slide SIG is the best made and has the best trigger. It was also the cheapest.

PPQ are $539 shipped. How much are Sigs? Please, don't say 2022, because it does not have a better trigger than any of the guns mentioned here so far, let alone a PPQ. Not being a fanboy, as I own 7 handguns, including a Sig, Walther, Glock, CZ, and S&W.

I agree with all those that say you should try them all and pick the one you shoot best.

For me it was an XD-40.  I have it in all three sizes. XD-40 SubCompact is my carry gun.  XD-40 Service is in nightstand. My XD-40 Tactical has 30,000+ round through it now, mostly shooting USPSA matches and still going strong.

Glock 19 in my opinion.

It is not the most "pretty", it is not the most comfortable grip(not uncomfortable, but not most comfortable). It may not even be the most accurate, and it does not have the best trigger.

But it is absolutely 100% consistent.
It has never, and will likely never fail me.
It points naturally for me.
It is pretty dang accurate for me

If I could only have one handgun, it would be my G19(and a 22lr conversion).

Here is mine next to my 1911. My 1911 .45 which cost twice as much, holds half as much, and jams sometimes. But is beautiful and more accurate.

I have owned or currently own the following polymer pistols

Glock 17 and 21

Springfield Armory XD

H&K USP and P2000

S&W M&P 9

Although I cant say anything bad about any of them, I now only own the Glocks.  I just shoot them better than the others.

It is a personal choice for any shooter

I was shooting at a 10" plate at 156 yards with my XD on Saturday.

Winchester White Box yielded a 6' circle at that distance. Should've used some match ammo

The sig has a nice DA/SA trigger and has a lot less felt recoil than most other 9s.

I have had Glock and Springfield and prefer the XD because, it has a grip safety, ambi mag release, loaded chamber indicator and striker cocked indicator. The XD I had ran great with everything and was very reliable.

I have a Gen 3 G19, and a M&P 9 with APex parts.

I shoot the M&P much better, so to me, it's the better of the two and what I carry.

YMMV

For plastic, I prefer the M&Ps.

Are they " the best"?

Damned if I know; but I like their ergos more than the others.

Mine have been reliable for a total of almost 17,000 rounds of assorted ammunition right out of he box, which makes them reliable enough IMO.

There are quite a few fine plastic guns to choose from these days.
