Quoted: This ballot measure demonstrates how evil "democracy" is: around half the people in the state are plotting to egregiously violate the rights of the other half. Democracy is a form of slavery, which is why this nation was founded as a constitutional republic by some of the smartest, bravest men to ever live. View Quote Yup. Democracy is mob rule by the majority. It's why the founders set up a representative republic instead. Everyone has the same inalienable rights. The majority cannot take them away even through "voting". The problem is that due to human nature, the morally upstanding (most of which are conservatives) will always be outnumbered by the selfish, the immoral, the hedonistic, and the ignorant (which most libs are). This is why under a pure democracy conservatives can never win and why the left wants to move us that way. This is why dims love to crow about "muh democracy" and appeal to the immoral and the lowest common denominator, and have no problem with illegals pouring into the country and being granted citizenship because they are ignorant and vote D. The time where voting does anything is over. This is a battle of good vs evil for this country. We better get ready for what's coming if we want to have any chance to save it. |

Pretty sure this is a Bruen/Heller smack down.
they should be putting a stay on it after the first legal challenge. |

Quoted: The bill was rushed through the ballot approval process, had questionable verification of signatures that were amassed last minute, then had a title and summary that were written with extreme bias. This was all then sponsored by out of state billionaires with a funding disparity of like 10,000:1. We had zero help from anyone. A completely unorganized grass roots counter attack that amounted to some yard signs and a bumbling "muh rights" rant on TV. Gun shops and ranges posted flyers, as well as places like Sportsman's and Cabelas sending out e-mails, but that's like preaching to the choir. All that and we're 'only' going to lose by like 5-10k votes by the time the week is over. 5-10k votes will effectively kill gun sales in the state of Oregon forever. No gun shops will survive this. While we're stuck in limbo with this BS, they'll force the other half of their plan through our state congress banning "assault" weapons. So no one will be able to panic buy on the leadup to their next ban, which will ban nearly every semi automatic in existence. I'm leaving this shithole the first chance I get. Even if by some miracle this doesn't pass, they'll keep trying. View Quote That is exactly how they pushed I-1639 on us. Bloomberg and his cronies have focused their attention, and more importantly their ability to purchase legislation, on your state for the time being, now that they've ruined ours. They out spent us on 1639 by a factor of 10. All y'all in "free" states, act smug while you can. They will pick us off one at a time. If your state has a referendum or initiative process it will be used against you. |

I admit ignorance - my only experience in Oregon is having to travel to the Portland area a few times and driving in from NoCal. All I saw were grungy hippies. Don’t ask me about my trips to Seattle - they were worse. It’s entirely possible that once you get away from the cities people are better. |

I'm sitting in a generally red county in a blue state. My responses are a heartfelt "Fuck you, no." I'm vocal with asking why, and insisting that the .gov (people) explain why any restrictions need to be in place, rather than justifying why we "should" have rights. It's called personal responsibility. Of course most I know hated what the current governor did during the collective 'Rona freakout (constant freedom restriction) but have apparently forgiven the shithead for that, or actually want to be governed harder, daddy. |

This should never have been on the ballot, the Sec of State office that is in charge of counting the signatures are all Dems so they tend to white wash the ballots they want and crush those they don't, namely the Governor recall attempt. There is no way to fight back as they control all oversite avenues as well. 90 some odd percent of all gun crime in the state happens inside a 5 mile radius in Portland and I am sure they don't prosecute gun crimes consistently with the DA they have. Multnomah county is just full of leftist and they along with and a few surrounding counties have the vote margin to pass what ever they want in the State. Leftist power base is geographically small but they have the votes so we are screwed. Attached File |

Quoted: There has to be something constitutionally wrong with that, that can be argued with bruen View Quote It sure sounds like it would be unconstitutional. Is it $65 for a card that is good for 5-10+ years or a card for each gun? Illinois has a FOID card which is required to touch a gun or ammunition. The cost was $10 for ten years. You could buy as many guns and as much ammunition as you wanted. I know they changed it to require fingerprints but I am not sure what the costs are. I will be out of Illinois early next year so I won’t need it and couldn’t get it if I wanted to. |
