you guard a gun store?  Are you an employee or just someone who happens to live next to it and come running out gun in hand when you hear the klaxon sound?

We both posted at the same time. The owner's my landlord. I came out to let the cops know  situation and to secure the store until they get there. The gun is one of those "just in case" things. As I said, most of the time, the bad guys haul ass as soon as the alarm goes off.

ah I see, nice going though I'd be cautioned over possibly losing your life over someone else's property.  While I fully commend you, in your opinion (you know the local law enforcement better than we), what would happen if you got into a full blown shooting with the perp and you took him down?  Do you think they would press charges on you?
Well, truth be told, that was in the back of my mind even as I drew my bead on him. This is a pretty conservative area. I truly think they would have avoided charging me, if possible. Even so, the detective told me that had it been a SHOOTING investigation, I would have been downtown ALL day and probably most of the night at the very least.

I assume they will be closed tomorrow?  I might stop by if not, not a huge fan of the other fun shops in the area, and helping a fellow Arcommer with their tennants might be a good way to go.
No delay in business at all. They opened right on schedule today, albeit with a couple of busted handgun cases. The handguns had all been removed to a MASSIVE safe at COB the day before, btw.

Awesome job!  Just stay behind cover the next time since these places tend to get hit somewhat regularly and by the same people, or at least part of the same crew so they now have a bit of intel on where you may respond from.

Also, another GREAT reason for having a light on a pistol, isntead of that stupid 2 hand flashlight hold.  Would have been tough to do while on a cell to police at the same time.

do you own this store? If not did the owners thank/reward you for securing their property?

No, I don't own it, but the owner is my landlord. His son thanked me profusely, and the guy with the E6 stipes on his coller came over and thanked me & shook my hand. Don't really expect or need a reward.

Doing the right thing because it's the right thing. What a concept.

Not to mention that not doing anything guarantees more stolen guns out there in criminals' hands.

Well done, Z.

Nice job.

And to those "not my stuff, not my problem" people, I think it's different when it comes to guns.  Jewelry store - go ahead, take the crap, definitely not worth my life.  That's what insurance is for.  But guns?  Just more ammo for the Brady bunch to squawk about.  More guns in criminal hands is definitely not a good thing.

This one is credible. There will be no BS flag thrown (by me).

1. Story doesn't read like a movie that would star Casper Van Diem. No needless facts, concise.

2. OP has been here a long time, and is a respected member of ARFcom. Has a lot to lose by lying.

3. I'd be a dick by ignoring #1 and #2 and would be calling BS without a good reason to.

In your situation, you would be right in making sure you and yours are safe, so I say that your priorities are in order. I however am single, so I don't have to worry about that sort of thing. I don't take either your comment or your question as a flame.

Ridiculous. You're lucky to have escaped with your life.

Not even a police officer would have charged head on into a situation like that against an unknown number of assailants without backup.  And they have body armor.  Real life is not an episode of 24.  Your assumption that the perp(s) would be gone was wrong.  The facts that the guy was alone and caught off guard were all dumb luck.

Next time leave it to the professionals.
