This has been discussed here before. It is part of the Democrats strategy of Democrats Forever.
As we have seen the illegals seem to like the freebies they get from our government. Additionally it seems that many Latinos who are US citizens (whether born here or naturalized) vote Democrat. Not all, but many. So Republicans tried to pander to them because of religion, family values, and other issues. This of course failed when twice during W. Bush's last term immigration "reform" was quashed due to the many efforts by good US Citizens who find amnesty and the ignorance of our laws repulsive. Of course those who did not want the amnesty were "racist, fascist, etc." Also, most were Republicans so this great minority sits out there still leaning mostly Democrat. The Democrats want to seal the deal. They want to guarantee victory FOREVER and to do that they need enough of this minority to go with them. They now have the power to pass health care (also part of the strategy) and immigration reform and leaving the Republicans out of it. We'll see if they actually have the cajones to pull it off. |

God, I love this guy.
Every day I wake up to a new round of hilarity, as Obama works fervently at the destruction of his presidency. All the health care debate needed to really piss off all those fence sitters was for amnesty to enter the discussion. He'll be down another 5% by the end of next week. He's going to be the first president in US history to have a single digit approval rating by Christmas of his first year in office. It's great. Thank god we got him instead of Hillary. |

That puts Obama in a real pickle...because he can't just play to middle America...he has to shore up those parts of his base. You figure he would have learned from his "bitterly clinging" fiasco...but apparently not. You can't have 18 different messages. You can't stand up in front of Congress one week and tell everybody that you aren't covering illegals with this healthcare thing and then turn around a couple of weeks later and say that you want amnesty. That tends to make people think you are a slimy, ulcerous, lying weasel of a politician who can't be trusted. ...which is about right. |

What happens next is unclear, as some of us are aware that amnesty is a "game over" prospect. The 30 million illegals in the US combined with the untold millions who will landrush the border will permanently shift the balance of power to the left. Huge amounts of money and resources will be spent in "hispanic outreach" voter registration drives and reminding these folks what party has given them the gift of citizenship in El Norte. This is bad, really fucking bad. Can the government just continue to logjam all these bills (amnesty, cap and trade, healthcare reform, localism) etc so that they all hit the floor at one time and use the shady, procedural moves to cram them all through at once. Vote on them all in one shot using a late night voice vote, rush them to the president and have them signed, sealed and delivered all in one shot? |
