I was on another site where some group fund type site tried not to pay out. An attorney physically visited them and had a polite chat with some of their people. No threats were made, he simply ID'd himself and pleaded their case.
Shortly after they decided to release funds. Where is their HQ located? Friendly and polite contact may help. |

So I received another email from GFM support. As always, here's the message chain so you guys can see what is going on. @Striker just for reference.
Hello Daniel, Thanks for getting back to us here. Just so I'm clear, would you please let me know how you personally know your donors? Our payment processor noticed that many of your donors are not using their legal names to complete their donations. Can you clarify why over 10 donors have used ARFCOM in their donation name? The campaign does not currently explain that no donations to the campaign will result in a raffle entry. In order to continue here, we'll need clarification as to where the raffle is taking place and what exactly you are raffling. I'll await your reply, Community Management Team No problem. I personally do not know the donors. This was setup as a charity donation for me by one of several forums I am on, with the plans of posting it on social media and elsewhere to get my medical condition out there. Unfortunately, as I'm in a small town in Alaska, there isn't exactly much exposure for that kind of thing. Since it is an online forum, it was discussed and decided that using screen names and a reference to which forum they are from would be easiest, so we can still know who donated without getting their personal info, should they not want to give it. I can amend the campaign to reflect that, as the raffle/giveaway is a separate thing going on. I just wasn't sure what edits needed to be made, so I was waiting for guidance. All of the items are donations by people the sites I have been a long time member of, with all state and federal laws being followed for them. Additionally, the site itself is approving/sponsoring the content. I would like it noted that (per GoFundMe terms of service) despite the photos in the thread linked below, there are not any firearms for sale or transfer. It is just an example from a company that does refinishing, so their product and service is high end paint. Beyond that, it is other items that people have donated for this. NorthPolar ARFCOM Fundraiser - On Temporary GFM Hold - AR15.COM Should this still be considered against GoFundMe's terms of service, I (and the site organizers) request that the campaign be cancelled and refunded to the people that donated. We'll then find another method for this charity event. Daniel |

But it's not a huge priority since the rifle isn't running yet, or have ammo to feed it.
The AK PFD came out on Thursday and 75% of it went into paying forward on my regular bills. Phone is paid forward 9 months, but I'm hoping to pay a little more before seeing what I have for ammo and the like. Priorities and all. I'll admit I've been tempted by a Burris that Cabela's has on clearance right now, just have to wait and see what is left over after bills, because the $250 or so between the scope and ammo is almost a month ish worth of bills. That and I know nothing about that scope beyond the basics, so research is needed. Since we're going into winter, odds are it would just get zeroed and then sit until spring anyhow. Don't really get out in the cold due to my health. |
