Use Gorilla glue to repair. It holds super strong and is actually stronger than the foam. Just don't add to much glue or it will foam out of the seam and make a mess.

Add flaps to that T-28 and you will have no problems flying it. It is super easy to fly, especially with the flaps down. With no wind it will easily fly at 8mph or so. It is actually probably easier to fly than the micro p-51 you have.

how would this be for a starter plane?

What else would I have to get to start flying it?

I have no experience with that plane, but I think it would be a poor choice for a starter. There are far better choices for beginners out there. Start with the Parkzone super cub and work your way up. But be forewarned, it is addicting.

Not as bad as you would think. I couldn't tell any difference in the handling characteristics either. Then again, it flew & handled slowly to begin with.

I agree with savage, that would NOT be a good starter!
I also agree with the Parkzone Cub but if you have never flown RC planes before I'd even suggest an Ember 2 outdoor on a calm day (no wind is the only way you can fly an Ember outside).
I also agree it's extremely addicting!!!

that thing is a tip stalling mofo-unless you run it with a couple of brushless fans. Get a GWS Slow Stick. Easy to fix, easy to fly, and it will lift a brick, so if you don't want to get micro/nano/sub-micro electronics on it, you don't need to. Run a 20" pice of spruce inside the aluminum tube and you'll never break it. It's exactly what a trainer should be-big, slow and STABLE. And easy as hell to fix.

Get the Hobbyzone Super Cub. Loads of fun and plenty of people modifying them. I liked mine!

You should try RC combat (with streamers), 5 minutes of pure adrenalin if you don't do the lawn dart maneuver or have a major mid-air.

Fly half a dozen rounds and you go home exhausted.

I tried that once and mid-aired two of my planes that afternoon.
Here's a couple I built back in the early 90's that I still have.

And one I don't!! Elevator servo failed on the first flight.
