[ARCHIVED THREAD] - New EE ad volume way down (Page 4 of 9)
|
Quoted: Yall people with memberships need to frequent the teams discussions… it’s been in testing by team members for months. Should have tested and provided feedback. Feedback has been given. 1. The problem is brushed off with the infantile comments about ‘coming around’ or ‘they will get used to it’. 2. The official statement is ‘we’re working on it. Maybe it will get fixed? Maybe not. It’ll be a shame if it doesn’t. |

Quoted: Maybe I’m crazy here, but if I had 50 different watches I wanted to sell, making 50 ads seems reasonable Quoted: Quoted: I was going to start a new watch box clean out thread with 50 or so pieces. You want the EE clogged with 50 plus individual ads? Maybe I’m crazy here, but if I had 50 different watches I wanted to sell, making 50 ads seems reasonable Only if you want an entire subforum clogged, and as pointed out, the limit appears to be 10 listings. I had a lot of fun selling my old watches to members who were getting into the hobby, and they appreciated the great deals. I generally was dealing with a good crowd of buyers with minimum bullshit compared to other sites. However, the new format coupled with the fact that there are fewer watch enthusiasts here than on say WatchUSeek or the Reddit (I fucking hate Reddit) watch sub forums, means I'm not likely to bother. In the end the members lose out because the system is more complex and yet limiting than it needs to be, |

Quoted: @goatboy can we get an answer on this please Have stated it multiple times in multiple threads. We are NOT getting involved in the transactions. We are simply putting two parties together like before. Data on users (buyers and sellers) will also be scrubbed. We have always removed private info to help protect folks, so it's illogical that we would start collecting it now in the most sensitive area of the site. We are not going to be tracking sales nor sending info to anyone. Also, we are not going to monetize this per transaction, not going to move to auctions either. The EE spirit will remain. |

Thank you buddy, that should at least put people to ease over those particular concerns. Now if we can get back to my watchbox clean out threads where I would list like 50 items in a single thread for economy of site resources... |

In the end the members lose out because the system is more complex and yet limiting than it needs to be, There wont really be subforums anymore except in the "old view" and limits can be adjusted. I think the point of making 50 listings is that they are easily searched and found when the title is specific to the item. It's not like PMAGs and having a listing for 30 rounders but having multiple items offering different colors or windows. So in your case, if you are listing watches under a heading of brand, that could work because I'm looking for a Tag or Breitling and can see what you have more easily. I believe that is the argument in making more listings vs less with your watches. |

You clearly haven't been putting money in their commissary account because they've been ornery lately...

Yall people with memberships need to frequent the teams discussions… it’s been in testing by team members for months. Should have tested and provided feedback. Should have been more obvious. I would have helped validate it. That is what i do in my job. The new EE sucks. PERIOD. I like the post tool, but not the rest of the interaction. No bumps, no way to give feedback if the buyer doesnt make an offer. Many make offers via messages. |
|
I don't know anything about the new format? Are they making a fee? Either way I know it sucks now as far as traffic. Pics are still not really posted so I don't understand that argument and parts box sales along with trades are dead now. I have been guilty of low-ball offers lately because I don't really need anything but I browse too much. Those days are much over I'm thinking. |

Quoted: I want to know when ARFCOM EE will have a REST API that I can use. That'll make things easier for me. Script something using a headless browser that will click buttons and submit forms, and you're sorta-kinda halfway there ![]() RSS feed would be nice. REST/GraphQL public APIs? I think ARFCOM has other technical issues to tend to before something like that... |
|
At what point does the old EE get shut down, forcing all listings to be in the new EE? I see two options: |

That may be your intention but now in the time of the IRS being weaponized if you have an "Online Marketplace" where buying and selling is facilitated and tracked internally in any way I don't see this going well. Maybe I'm just cynical but their definition of that marketplace is whatever they say it is and unless Chevron is thoroughly defeated I fear the weight of the gov't will come down on this place. Even then this change was codified into law and the IRS' ability to cope with the change seems to be the only thing holding them back. Good intentions and all. |

Quoted: It's clunky at best making it more difficult to browse categories without extra clicks or using those filters. The font on the left menu item is all jumbled together unlike the cleanly spaced items in the old EE. https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/99516/Capture_JPG-3168756.JPG Compared to: https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/99516/2_JPG-3168757.JPG Quoted: Quoted: How is it harder to browse? I still have shortcuts to the sections I would check. |

New EE: Build Back Better Version. I'll probably begrudgingly use it eventually, but recently my browsing for things has plummeted dramatically because I just don't care for it. I was going to list a few things this week and just really don't want to bother at this point. |
|
Quoted: The EE is a direct competitor to their business. Well I don't know if they think that or not, can't speak for them. What I do know is that anyone who doesn't understand that the secondary market is of vital importance to a healthy primary market, has zero understanding of how economics actually works. Our current government (Dems) has this problem, greedy morons who think they will add a bunch of freebie tax revenue, will instead destroy a huge chunk of the primary market, along with the entirety of the secondary market, in non-perishable goods. Half the product stuff I buy new online, I have no idea if it will work for me, and I wouldn't buy it at all if it weren't for the safety valve the secondary market provides, it's one thing to lose 20 bucks on a 200 dollar purchase because it didn't work out, quite another to be out the whole 200 AND be stuck with some crap that does nothing for you. It has an absolutely chilling effect on the whole market. But Dems are idiots in general, they have no idea even where to start looking at the big picture, and it shows right now, badly. Arfcom has always been one of the best and most robust re-sale platforms online for the casual firearms enthusiast, have really enjoyed it, and i'll still try to work with the new system if I can, but if things get much more difficult (and it's not just here, not even close, it's everywhere now) i'll likely stop buying or selling and that includes new products that come on the market. What I have now, works just fine, and see that's the point, we are talking about hobbyists here and discretionary spare income, and being able to include whole classes of people (middle class and below) into using that for these sorts of non-necessity purchases. It makes for a much more robust and resilient economy overall. |
|
I've put a couple ads up, but I'm moving to Gunboards and TacSwap for stuff I think. This place has been the drive behind my hobbies - but I really dislike the new format. I tried for an hour to figure out How to leave feedback on a thing I purchased... With the new button. Can't do it. So frustrating. |
| EE was 90% of the reason to browse the site. Why fuck with your bread and butter to make it slightly "better" for a small group of people? Sad and misguided to say the least. Makes it look like an armslist forum, very scammy feel to it. This is like what Disney is doing to star wars, changing it for the sake of a small minority's appreciation while alienating your core source of traffic.... |
|
The irony here is how this “new” EE is just the old “new EE” that rolled out in ~2009 and was quickly quashed because it sucked. Sure sure sure, new features etc. ok. That doesn’t change the fact that old “new” EE is the same UX as the new “new” EE. Both sucked. Both had very vocal small groups of team members touting how great it was and suppressing discussion about the downsides. Both have a large group of active EE users who think it’s a pile of steaming horse shit. And both had staff telling us all how great it is. It did suck then and it still sucks now. |
|
Quoted: How is the new EE preventing further disputes down the road? the only thing I guess would be the seller does not have to accept the buyers offer. he/she can decide if they want to do the sale. based on whatever they feel. so like no feedback, low feedback or possibly not a perfect score they can say no. aside from that im not sure. |

I was going to list a few things this week and just really don't want to bother at this point. Same here. I usually listed stuff that I no longer needed, and it was a way to pass on some great gear for decent prices to people. I have a feeling that I'll just end up tossing out stuff that would otherwise go to a new home. |
|
Quoted: I just sold a gun in the new EE. The only thing that confused me was that I could not find a way to mark it as Sold. just closed. so i went ahead and did that I tred closing an ad and also could not find a button for that. I ended up editing the thread title with SOLD. There must be an easier, obvious way to end/close/mark as SOLD but I did not see it. |

|
Quoted: EE sucks due to no one can get a start in EE because... they don't have an EE rating and no one "trusts" the new guy. How can you get a rating if no one buys your shit?. I'd rather sell my stuff locally or on GB, less bullshit. It's idiocy. Personally, I started with 35 feedback, why don't you do that? |

|
Quoted: What does that have to do with anything other than being the live free or die state? Quoted: Quoted: No, it’s cause you’re from New Hampshire. What does that have to do with anything other than being the live free or die state? You can earn feedback as a buyer. You can reference feedback on other sites, like eBay. Hell if it is an inexpensive enough item and a buyer has great feedback and has been here awhile, offer to ship first and have them pay upon receipt. A long time member won’t risk their account over a $40 magazine. Get creative, |

You can trust me or choose not to, I don’t care. Not the first time I have tried to sell something that the potential buyer didn’t trust me, I’m sure it won’t be the last. |

It has always been the seller's choice on who they sold to, the new EE won't change that. |

I am not a fan.....at all. I listed a few items and took almost twice as long and they get to get muddled up with all the other listings. Someone sure as fuck solved a problem that didn't exist. It seems as though the days of browsing a category are over. You have to destination search or you are out. |
