Unless she is a down right witch, I bet she feels horrible about it. You should say something nice, like, don't feel bad, it could have happened to anyone.

My MIL is a good lady. Absolutely crazy, but a good lady. She definitely feels bad about it.

However , the ham was delicious and I told her so

She dropped it in the floor? In? IN the floor?

How does that happen? Anytime I've ever dropped anything it was on the floor. Not in. How heavy was that turkey?

many have a 5 second rule, me, 5 minutes I'm eating it, 5 days depends. I have eaten all sorts of things that nobody else would touch and I love some liver too. I'm doing fine after 60 some years too.

My wise grandma said you have to eat a little dirt now and then. I find that your immune system is much more robust the more you work it.

I would and have eaten things that fell on my kitchen floor but i tend to keep my tile floor very clean, now if it fell on a ragg woll carpet...

The hausfrau keeps the kitchen floor clean enough to eat off of it; so it is no big deal if the bird takes a bounce.  In my house it wouldn’t even be up for discussion as to whether we are eating the turkey.

It could have melted straight through the ceramic tile once that 8% "basting" solution they pack them with made contact at nuke temps.

Your sister in law is a smart lady.  For goodness sake, it's not gonna kill you, unless someone stepped in dog poop than tracked it on the floor.
