NY in the poll should be NYC. The rest of NY is pretty neutral, as far as accents.

I voted for Jersey but the absolute worst single example of an accent I've ever heard was a female medic at one of the Brigade Aid Stations on Ft. Riley back around '95 - '96. This girl was from Boston and I damned near had to have a translator to communicate with her. Nice gal but virtually impossible for this midwestern farm boy to understand.

Staten Island/Northern NJ.
It's like Long Island but with a higher pitch. ETA: Northern Minnesota is really bad too. |

Alaskan bush people, what ever it is they speak on that show, its pure inbreeding

Poll fail.
'Southern' is not a catchall. I like Georgia peach accents, Kentucky girl accents, and even a little 'Nawlins drawl. In general, TennuhsEEEE, AlaBAMA, and Nawth CarolINA make me cringe. |

Do you have any idea how many accents are in New Jersey?
South Jersey is almost a drawl. Philly metropolitan area is, well, Philly-ish. North Jersey has plenty of that Brooklyn / L.I. / faux Italian thing going. The rest of the state is pretty indistinguishable, aside from tempo (everyone talks way too fast). |

I have a client in MA--anytime the slightest thing isn't right, the CEO says it's a "fuckin nightmayah."

The Minn/Wisc midwestern accent is like nails on a chalkboard, dontcha know?

What makes a Boston accent most obnoxious are the people that are just so damn proud of their inability to pronounce "R's"

We had a lady from Connecticut move down here and start working at my office a few years back. I'll never forget something she said early on:
"Oh my Gaaad. Whaat is aawl dat be-utiful oivy that's growin' in aawl da trees?! Oy gotta get some uh dat foy moy yaaad!" She was talking about kudzu. We warned her that we'd lost loved ones to kudzu, and she didn't want anything to do with it. She basically sounded like Lois Griffin with a touch of Boston. Really nice lady though. Much better than the asshole from New Jersey who used to work here. |

NJ, NY, and Boston are all awful. "Baldimore" and Pittsburgh "yunzers" can be a kind of annoying too if it's a really heavy accent.
EDIT: Tennessee has its own type of Southern accent that is really hard on the ears to me, too. More nasal and higher pitched. |

fake southern belle accents ie: Paula Deen
real Georgia accents are beautiful to listen to I wont go so far as to say annoying but I had a ex from Boston I believe it was more the person than the accent that ruined it for me my uncle is a retired NY state trooper I dont find his accent annoying but I dont know what the hell is saying 50% of the time lol |

Minnesota. The Boston, as well as North Eastern, accents aren't that bad. Hell, even southern accents aren't bad.

Needs multiple choice, because how do you pick between the first three?

New England, followed by NY/NJ.
That's serious considering I grew up in NYC. Thankfully, I never got the accent. |
