I am a bit beside myself however I cannot seem to get a light that works worth a shit - or doesn't have some sort of defect. I originally bought a: - Modlite PLHv2 - UE Tailcap - Modbutton Lite This originally had issues on flicker when loading a round. It would flicker when activated, and sometimes just activate by itself and not shut back off I reached out to Modlite - they suspected a bad tailcap (probably because its Surefire) and wanted me to send it to Surefire - I didn't want to wait 2 years for warranty so I just ordered a DS00 Tailcap. That came in and sure as shit, the same issue. Contacted modlite again and they had me send it in. They determined it was a bad light head and sent me the new version with the rubber insert. Got it back - its like they didn't test anything - same damn issue. Sent it BACK to them - they determined a bad head again... and sent me a replacement. When I got the replacement, they sent a damn Multi-Mode Head. At this point, i decided I was done with these incompetent idiots and just sold it all off. Now onto Cloud Defense. Literally just ordered a RAIN Micro (of course i missed the 20% off sale by like 2 days - however just my luck) and the thing came in and I shit you not - issues with this as well. The damin tailcap dosent sit flush, a big ass gap. I guess its just not meant to be with me and a light on this AR - but I'm about done. I had a bit of communication on Thursday, with them blaming the battery jack (orange thing) being too far out, interfering. I send them a photo with it cranked all the way in without the battery and same issue. Friday - crickets. Come next week Ill take it up with PayPal if need be |

This. 20+ years and dozens of Surefire later and I won’t buy anything else for a weaponlight or EDC. I’m not at all surprised that Modlite tried blaming Surefire first. I’m mildly surprised that they didn’t try blaming your thumb second. |

I fixed it by taking steel wool and buffing up the threads at the end of the light body and the threads on the bottom of the malkoff head. The pressure switch is letting less "juice" through than a clicky tailcap, and if the interface between the light body and head has too much finish/residue or anything reducing the current flow, it can contribute to the light acting up with pressure switches |

I’ve had several Issues with Modlite PLHv2 and have had to replace the spring on the light head multiple times after it comes loose and breaks. They’ve sent me several new springs for free and claim it is a “serviceable part” because it’s common. I’ve also had 2 or 3 brand new batteries not accept a charge that Modlite replaced. I use it as a handheld light around the yard when the dogs are out. I have two Cloud lights and they have been pretty good, but I don’t care for the remote switches. I’m slowly switching everything back to Surefire for rifle lights. |
| every light does that. sure fire, whatever. there is a spring on the battery so it doesn't explode. when you shock the battery the spring loses contact for a 2nd. on the surefire tail caps if you strech the spring a little it helps. but yea basically every weapon light will do that. |

I have two Surefires and one Modlite, the only one that has issues is the surefire with the remote switch. The rest have clicky tailcaps and are fine. I do have a couple Cloud handhelds and the one does have a glitchy switch but it happens so infrequently that I've never done anything about it. |

The common denominator in these types of threads is pressure pads, external buttons and their connections. I only use clicky tailcaps and have none of these problems. But I only care about reliability, not whether some other guy is going to jerk off over pics and specs of my 'gun'. |

Even with my issues posted above, I’m still happy Modlite and Cloud Devensive entered the game. They pushed for brighter lights that go further and push through photonic barriers better than the old Surefire lights did and forced the industry to respond. Now there are several companies competing in the safe area so you can spend your money wherever you want. Even streamlight has really come a long way with the TLR-7 series and now the HLX head making handgun lights much better. |

My oldest AA Thrunite Archer impressed me so much as an EDC, that ordered a couple of more. One of those is electrical taped to the Mlok rail on my HD AR. No bracket, the tape locks it down tight and the tail switch is just a thumb move to click it on. It handles recoil well. A note here...i did "upgrade" to a pair of Streamlights similar to the first Thrunite Archer AA. Both tail switches failed after not much use. |

GENTLEMEN THIS GETS BETTER The Multi-Mode head that they sent me in error as a replacement ALSO HAS ISSUES...I cannot make this shit up. From the buyer: "Hey man, this head is bad. Will only stay on a few seconds, then flashes, then dies. I’ve used 4 modlite batteries, 2 bodies, and 2 switches, all same result. You had this listed as new." |
| The cloud group on Facebook is nothing but dudes bitching about cloud. I have a newer handheld I got cheap because of the color. Works so far but it gets really hot pretty fast. My surefire does not get hot and it's been to hell and back at work in the dirt. I'm just going to stick with surefire and arisaka for now. |

I had two Rein 3.0s shit the bed on me during a rather expensive Steve Fisher low light course. Missed half the class due to it. Got refunds, tested the rest of my Reins to make sure they didn’t do the same thing, and cleansed myself of them at a loss. Cloud didn’t seem to care their products cost me half a class, but at least I got my money back for the lights. Never. Again. I’m back to surefire now. Zero issues, and the new Unity tailcaps are good as well. |
