Old enough that almost half the population will never live that long.

Old enough to know you collided with a motorcyclists and hear something being dragged underneath the car. Fucking pull over. Jesus Christ.

That dude should have his license suspended or revoked or something.

72 is hardly "old"
72 is older than the worldwide average life expectancy, and 7 years under the average here in the US. Yes, its old.

I cannot tell you how many MVCs that I've been on caused by an elderly driver. What is worse is they usually have no idea what they did!

Fixed it.  At least drunks are only drunk some of the time.

My 73 year old motorcycle riding dad would be happy for there to be a strict competency test every year or two for anyone over 65.  People's incompetence driving scares the shit out of him.

Wow, I can't imagine how terrible it would be trapped under a vehicle not knowing if it would stop, or when.

I hope your friend recovers fully.

And a single MVC caused by a confused elderly should be grounds for loss of license.  Let there be an appeals process where they prove competency if they want.  I've known a couple people mangled by old folks who didn't quit driving and have seen plenty of other cringe worthy old drivers.

RIP trooper.

They rebuilt his anus, and he can now walk and recently did some run

I think I saw in one of the news reports that the family has setup a GoFundMe account to help with costs. I'm on my phone so I don't have a link, though.

In Florida 72 is still quite young, my Dad is 70 still flies, boats does everything he ever has.

80's is where I would like the checks to start just to make sure they are okay to drive, there seems to be a huge variation on who is old and when.

On the news now. Active in his church, sang and played guitar, youth minister.

He was hit literally at my exit. The rest area the old man dragged him to is at least 2 miles north of here.

Rest easy Trooper Wolf. God bless you and your grieving family.

Old enough to have mandatory testing and if no issues no problems.  My father in law is in his late 60's and his driving is so bad he should be revoked.

No charges yet. I expect that some will be forthcoming after the reconstruction and investigation is complete. At the very least, the 72 year old will likely be on the hook for a 1 year misdemeanor "moving violation causing death," but could be on the hook for up to a 15 year felony "Failure to Stop at the Scene of an Accident - When at Fault - Causing Death."

It;s not just the age of a person on why they should be tested, it's the MEDS there on,  people get meds that totally fuck them up esp when you get older.
