What surprises me is that for a very long time, the Arabic/Persian people were one of the greatest the seats of knowledge in the world. They ranked right up there with the Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans for some time.
I want to ask "What the hell happened", but fear too many people will blame Islam. This fantastic period of knowledge was while Islam was still fairly young. The other great cultures didn't turn to crap after they floundered, they simply lost power, so what happened to powerhouse of knowledge that used to be the Islamic world? |
