GTO's need more attention then they've received in the past couple of years. I drove one of my buddies and loved it. Sounds great, ride is SMOOTH and it is COMFORTABLE!!! My buddy is going to put the STS turbo on his 05 GTO. I'm still not 100% sold on the STS system, just too many "if's" in my mind... Nice car though!

thanks guys. i was holding out on the '09 camaro but there were too many ifs and too much time in there to suit me.
they're not 100% committed to build it, its rumored to be expensive, its rumored to receive the same engine the gto already has and it'd be at least 2010 before you could buy one anywhere near invoice............. the 2005-2006 ls2 gtos are getting 13.1 in the 1/4 mile bone stock and the slightest massage will get you in the 12s. pretty respectable. so far mine has a GM motorsports ripshifter and an SLP performance 421HP bobcat kit. with headers and a few weight saving parts i'll probably be looking at somewhere between 12.6-12.9 in the 1/4. |
If the survey results Hot Rod magazine did are any indication of what GM will build..the new Camaro is going to be an over priced, heavy eurocar. It seems the majority want all the bells and whistles and are willing to pay waaaaay to much for it.
I've never been impressed with the body style..it looks to much like a Grand Am but..it's got the right # of cylinders,a tranny you can row and the right wheels go up in smoke.. |
nor was i impressed with the styling. it's growing on me though, the exhaust i put on it doesn't help anything but it's a hell of a sleeper. they made less than 40,000 in the 3 year run so very few people know what in the hell they even are. nobody jerks their head to the side to see my car go by but that includes the cops the interior on the other hand is absolutely kick ass, i'm very impressed with it there. and the car is supposed to loosen up and really start running between 3000 and 5000 miles from what i've heard. that might be dangerous, it'll already scratch 3rd with the traction control on |
Never thought about the body style that way..stealth mode is good.
A black IROC is not quite as attention grabing as a yellow or red one but I get the sideways look from the RCMP highway guys. All the local boyz know who it is..if a certain officer hadn't retired before I bought it I would have been smoking crown vickies at 3am with him! I put their newest one "on the trailer" with my 120 000 mile Caprice a few years ago in an acceleration test with him. He is a hard core gear head and GM fan.. If the tax payers only knew... |

that is by-God friggin beautiful. |

About the 09 Camaro
They've 100% approved and officially announed production, unless something drastically changes it's definitely getting built. The only thing really up in the air is the exact model year it will hit and equipment details. It is almost assured not to get the LS2, as it is scheduled to be no more by then. My question is how much better will it's replacement be though. If current rumors hold it will be the 6.2l LS3 with around 425-450hp which will need to pop up pretty soon in the Vette if the Camaro is to get it I would think. If it's "only" 425hp that's not a massive step up, 450 would be getting on up into quite an improvement though. Oh and the price, GM has stated several times their aim is for the main V8 model to be price competitive w/ the Mustang GT level car and outperform it. Everyone is kinda hoping for $30kish, but I'm not so sure. I don't think it will get above $34k-$35k with exception of a vert and "Z06"-style upper end model though. I hope they'll build enough I can get one for invoice within the first year, I sure want one... If they can get it out w/ 450hp and come at or below $32k I'll be jumping for joy. Now to get the coin together to buy it if they hold up their end... |

I think it was motor trend that I read GM is having trouble comming up with a base (read V6) Camaro in the same price range with a loaded V6 Mustang. If this is true.... |

HEY! Those didn't come with 455s or Tri-power. |
So! I fixed that! |
i ended up buying a spoiler and looking into getting koni shocks... there went the gun money.
Looks like one heck of a clean car. How much did it set you back and where did you go to get it? |

I'm guessing its a red six speed with t tops ? Yup! Also Considering selling, NW NJ 30K miles. $15 obo.I love it, but just don't drive it much. http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w135/eljay10/Picture021.jpg |

Finally, someone besides Striker that shares my taste in Camaros. For whatever reason, I always like the 84-92 styling, and you have two beautiful examples. |
UH_SALT's interior kicks ass. Mine is still stock and in need of some tlc. On the list for this summer. I read in Hot Rod or Car Craft that the 3rd generation f-bodies are among the best bodys as far as drag coefficient for a stock body and a lot of salt flat racers prefer them. thanks bala. I've owned it for around 6 years and I'm slowly getting it to where I want it. |

So far i have to weld in some UMI boxed subframe connectors, UMI lower control arm relocation brackets, and install UMI's adjustable panhard bar. Then i have to fit and paint a 1 piece freedom design spoiler and install my finished berger panel.
Man i can't wait ti spring rolls around!!!! |
Thanks! It was 82 to 92 for the 3rd gen Camaro. The red one is a friends car and is the main reason my car is what it is. His car inspired me to keep moving forward. It has way too much money in it and a lot more to go. I like to think of it as my second wallet. |
toss up between it or my gun safe being my second wallet.. |
For those of you who don't know, that's Striker behind the car. ETA: By the way Art, I was hoping you'd show up in this thread. I can never get enough pics of your daily drivers. Nice video, too (wish it was a little brighter, though). Was that Jeff Boomhauer doing the announcing? |
Yeah, I know the 82 and 83s fall in there too, but IIRC they had the older style, rounder headlights from the 2nd gen. I just like the harder lines a little more. Then again, I also think the same era corvettes were some of the best looking ever made, technicolor dash and all. Maybe I just like the flying-wedge look on fast cars. |
I think he's waiting because his other thread went so well. I thought it was a beautiful, old-school thread but apparently missus gloffie wasn't feeling quite as nostalgic that day.
Well they do now, loose-lips! |
Agreed. Clean-up on aisle "me". ETA: @ SavageSlackie. Go here to not be lost. |

wow that was a train wreck right from the start.
any of you guys use radar detectors? if so what brand and model and how many times has it saved your ass? |
That was a good book.. |

i use an escort 8500 now, have used escorts exclusively in the past and have been nothing but pleased only problem i had was the south TX sun fried one of them but i sent it back, they made it all better and shipped it right back to me, probably 10 day turnaround BTW, train wrecks are my specialty |

Here's a few more to chew on... Pic#1 was a 9.93 @ 141 (No rollcage) Pic#2 was a 9.59 @ 146 (broke the 9" rear the next pass) Pic#3 was a 8.73 @ 156 Pic#4 was a 8.46 @ 159.85 (Fastest that car ever went) Pics#3&4 were taken the same day... Super Chevy Maple Grove 1998. At one time I was really on top of my game and was one of the "big dogs" in my area... Top of the food chain you might say. A pic of my Red Camaro in our hotel parking lot... Ocean City, MD Spring of '04 This car was a complete ANIMAL. It weighed around 2600lbs and had an 1150hp 632BBC under the hood. You can't imagine how it felt to drive this beast on the street. My first Camaro... Pic taken November 1984, Senior year of HS... Interesting note regarding this photo... The car is in the exact same spot as the Black Chevelle is pictured on page 2 of this thread...(pointed opposite directions) Only 20 years earlier. The trees look a little different now. |

I LOVE that car. I had a '70 Forumula 400 with a 4sp and six point roll cage. Man I wish I still had that thing. Very cool car you have there. |
