I've just started playing around with machining so it's encouraging to see all the awesome work like you've done with those tools. I don't think I'll be able to duplicate that creative mind of yours though. You're a freakin artist, man!

Damn, that's simply incredible. I honestly expected this thread might take several months and I would have never believed the finished product would look half this good.  I'm curious, did I miss when/why you decided not to do the stock? Or is that still coming as a separate piece? |

The grip was built the way it was specifically for that reason. But, as a stock will make the pistol an SBR once completed, I am working on a Form1 application now. So, it will really depend on when the stamp is approved, and build time post approval. I guess I could have went the "brace" route, but that seemed like cheating on this project, it would have been lazy on my part. Plus who knows how all the brace stuff will eventually pan out. I originally built the SPACECANNON-10 with a 12.5" barrel and a brace, which I hated. Now it rocks a polished 18" barrel and an all aluminum stock, more accurate = mo better. I reused the 12.5" barrel on the folding pistol braced, side charging BULDTHEWALL-10 TOPO build. (That entire project was pieced together with left over / take-off parts, accept for the trigger and a Iron sights). |

Op, absolutely amazing build! Your final product is stunning and pays tribute to a weapon in one of the best video game series ever developed. The speed at which you completed your build is mind blowing. Looking forward to other future projects you might be planning to tease and spoil us with! |

Update [9-12-21] Small improvements We are still waiting on our delivery of 300blk ammo. In the meantime, I did make a few changes/ improvements to the pistol while waiting on the shipment. First was to make the mag release button a bit bigger. The smaller button would wiggle a little based on the fact I made it to fit a standard release button. I made the larger size to fit on a custom machined button with tighter tolerances. The larger button also beveled un the underside edges sitting a bit more flush into the lower receiver. Secondly, I redesign the ejection cover to make it shorter lengthwise. I also made the spring / catch assembly QD, so I can remove the cover easily if needed. Cleaned up the lines, and left some meat at the base to reinforce the area that is forced to open by the charging handle. The first cover was very thin in three areas (about the thickness of a dime), and the cover wanted to bend under force. A cycling test with snap caps resulted in a needed alteration to the charging handle itself. A bit too long, the handle wanted to reflect the caps back into the port opening. also the flat rear backside looked better, but did not function smoothly against the reversed dust cover. I made a new one with a rounded back end, including a brass cover (not necessary, but should improve reciprocation against the dust cover). The newer charging handle is a half inch shorter and half the weight of the original, with a stronger spring assembly to keep the handle forward during live fire. With luck we will have a few vids to post soon. Left side is original, right side is modified.  |
