My last post for the night in this thread, (bookmarked for tomorrow)

Thank the mayor and the governor for all of this. They're the ones who dicked around playing political games.
They're already guilty of extreme negligence, so if you wanna tack on some extra shit go on ahead.

Edit:

"Marlene, along with Zeitoun and hundreds of others from Camp Greyhound, ended up at maximum security Elayn Hunt Correctional Center, in St. Gabriel, La., 70 miles from New Orleans. They were FEMA prisoners: FEMA rented state prison space and Camp Greyhound transfers were, according to prison staff, “FEMA’s problem.” Again: transferred with no charges, no information, no opportunity to make a phone call or talk to a lawyer. "

If the "dicking around" didn't happen, what would have been accomplished?

Quicker FEMA response?

More guns taken?

More people visited by "armed and badged black-uniformed men" taking you at gunpoint and letting Lootie have free reign?

Since the terminal was taken over by law enforcement authorities, ithas become the new face of justice in this devastated city. More than220 people have been detained there before being moved elsewhere toawait trial. Most of those passing through Camp Greyhound have beenaccused of looting, but there also have been a few accused killers andrapists, said Burl Cain, a state prison warden who oversees the jail.

You didn't read the story YOU post as proof that it was real.
That says it was STATE authorities who ran the jail, not mysterious black clothed DHSbots.

The subject being addressed here is what would have happened if the state authorities hadn't "dicked" around, not who ran the jail.

Please read the posts and follow the flow of thought.

A tabloid news source turning a legitimate action (temporary jail for all the criminals we all know were running around looting/robbing amidst the chaos) into a 'conspiracy'....

This has about as much 'credibility' as the story that highway construction in a north-south direction was 'proof' of a plan to merge the US, Canada & Mexico into one country...

Eg ZERO...

Why is it that every time you make a post, and I happen to read it, I feel like you stole something from me.

My time, perhaps some of my intelligence. I cant put my finger on it, but its something.

I feel like my outlook for humanity and my faith in my fellow human is lowered 2 or 3 pegs everytime you hit that 'submit' button.

And for what ever its worth, its PREPARE.

And, BTW, brainiac... it wasnt the fucking hurricane that did them in. The levees on the lake pontchartrain side failed. I personally dont think that the storm surge caused that.

Thanks for the reply, the misspelling caught my eye

Stories like these piss me off.  Not because of the obvious bullshit, but because almost all the focus of Katrina was on New Orleans and how utterly helpless and dependant those people were.  My governor knew how to run shit.  My people didn't kill, rape, and steal from each other.  There were no "secret prison camps" in my state.  There were no roving gangs of JBTs taking property.  But from all the news since 2005, no one would even know the storm struck my state.

Guys that are trying to protect their houses and businesses, guys that are working in hazardous conditions,.....these guys?

That's who the story is about.

The real crime in the eyes of the government is being able to fend for yourselves without having to suck government dick.

Remember this when SHTF in your neck of the woods.  Those who prepared and those who persevere will be the scapegoats and targets.

The levees that failed and flooded downtown New Orleans failed due to local government corruption, period.

CoE built the canal levees, New Orleans Levee District rebuilt them, to shit standards, ignoring even their own engineers' recommendations, and they collapsed.

Mary Landrieu wanted to punch Bush in the nose because she knew of she didn't shift blame real quick, she'd have been lynched, with a pike driven up her ass first. She's fought to keep MRGO open for years, even though the only ships that use it are tied to family business. MRGO is a giant funnel pointing due east. As Katrina passed by, with LOW CAT ONE conditions, the funnel shoved surge water into the Industrial Canal Basin so hard it hammered even well build CoE levees.

The strongest wind, measured ANYWHERE in New Orleans during Katrina's passage, registered 91 miles per hour. Look it up.

In June of 2005, the Orleans levee District, who's mission statement explicitly acknowleges their sole responsibility for levee maintenence, noted that the Orleans East and St. Bernard Primary Protection Levees were in need of "emergency lift", their words, not mine. They also said they couldn't afford the $2-3 million bucks needed to raise the levees which had sunk into soft soil. This was two month AFTER they transferred $2.5 million bucks out of the levee maintenence fund, into the general jack off fund, where they could legally spend that money on bike paths, ornamental fountains, private airport runway re-surfacing, and gambling casinoes.

When Katrina came ashore, again with low Category One conditions, those levees failed where they had sunk, disturbing and weakening the layered compacted soils comprising the levee embankment. The correlation between levee subsidence before the storm, per 1999 Shuttle Radar Tomography data, and the levee breaches after Katrina, runs from 65% to 100%.

Excellent post, sir.

Just like the people in Galveston after Ike.  You don't hear much about it because after the storm, everyone went back to work cleaning up, repairing, and rebuilding, instead of waiting around for handouts and for other people to do all the work.

More than 4 years later, they're still crying and wringing their hands in New Orleans.  The entire "leadership" of that city oughta be hung.

There's a lot of benefit of the doubt being given to the cops by you guys.  Normally I'd agree except during katrina we have stories of cops looting stores, car dealerships, roughing up old ladies, and taking guns from the law abiding public.  Did they wrongfully jail people or hold them without charges too?  Seems plausible.

Extraordinary circumstances, massive distruption of civil society, unconventional means were necessary to maintain order.

I'm sick of all the whining over Katrina.  If I had been running things, I'd have put the looting down like it was the 1968 Detroit Riots.

That trash got off too easy.

Even a blind pig finds an acorn every now and then.  The levees probably failed because the local construction was so poorly done (because the contractors stole or substituted materials) that they failed.  It was Bubba and Leon, not Bush.

A big plus on this............Gov. Blanco was completely incompetent......she waited DAYS before she agreed to let fema and the feds in.......Oh and Nagin..........don't get me started on that.

Do you guy's remember our former Gov. and current federal inmate Edwin Edwards ? Anytime a Hurricane looked like it was heading our way he would go ahead and give the permission to the feds to come on in.

Blanco was freaking CRYING on tv and asking everybody to pray.

Lots of good people died because of those two assclowns.

If you don't believe me just look at the casualties between Louisiana and Mississippi .

I was in Baton Rouge during and after katrina and there were companys wanting to go and help that were not allowed in until almost a week later. The Louisiana state government (Blanco) basicly closed off New Orleans for days before letting help in.

Meemaw was tranked.

Best Nagin story was when Secret Service threatened to break down the bathroom door on Air Force One after Nagin had been in there two hours, showering and shaving his head to look good for the cameras.

Second best Nagin story was when he flipped out on the air, screaming and hollering for somebody to do something, after he had holed up in his luxury suite at the Hyatt, for three days, with a Blackberry and one working phone line, "trapped" by water less than three feet deep.

A few days after the storm went through me and a couple of friends went to a bar in Canton, which is north of Jackson; where there was working electricity.  After severel rounds of much needed brew, we looked up and saw Haley on Fox giving an interview and Fox was making comparisons on the leadership of MS and LA.  We decided then that we should have invaded and burned LSU to the ground, and taken over everything south of McComb.

That story is bullshit. Greyhound was real, but thats because every other jail was in ruins.

I did see allot of shit down there. The media reported maybe 10% of what happen, and they lied about that 10%. There was some fucked up shit happen, and mostly was thugs trying to destroy what was left.

One thing I will share is when some of the thugs were thrown MRE's and water, some of them threw the MRE's back, and said they wanted a fucking cheeseburger. They shot at rescue personal, they shot at choppers, busses, boats, ect. They looted, set fires, ect ect. The State Police Swat team got a workout in of of the hospitals
