I don't find it annoying, especially since I use a dash a lot. It is a pause but longer than a comma pause. What I really find annoying is the absence of punctuation. As long as the writer can get his idea across properly, I really don't care whether he uses a comma or a dash or any thing else - as long as he uses something to separate his words/sentences.

BTW, in college comp we learned that women use dashes more than they use commas - although it is usually incorrect to do so.

But seriously, some people make too much of nothing. Care about the important stuff and overlook the rest!
