You know it's fun to laugh at this thread but I do feel a little bad for the women involved. While I'm sure some of them are vile human beings who are exactly where they belong a few of them may honestly regret their actions that led them there and sincerely want to change their lives when they get out. They reach out looking for interaction with decent human beings that they won't get from their fellow inmates or their screwed up families. What they will actually get are disgusting, horny, neckbeards too broke to buy a wife from Russia. It's a rough world out there. That's enough white knighting for now. View Quote |

Not sure of the law, but can't you lose your gun rights if you shack up with a felon ?

Quoted: If they gave her 3 years CONSECUTIVELY, she really really pissed them off. It doesnt work that way. I've been a cop for 14 years, and I've never seen that happen on a misdemeanor anything. Even with people who really pissed the Judge off. View Quote ETA: That means that if she's already served two years, she's probably doing some felony time as well as you have to serve 85% of your felony sentence. Of course, this all depends upon there not being any mandatory time. If there is a mandatory minimum on a sentence, you serve 100% of that mandatory minimum and then 50% or 85% of the time above and beyond the mandatory minimum (depending upon it being either misdemeanor or felony time). @MaxxII |

She hasn't told me they were misdemeanors , I was guessing that considering the info online says she had 3 counts of 1 year each.
She is eligible for release this year with good behavior. I know I made large mistakes when I was 19, I just didn't get pinched for them... I will be able to decide if she is a threat to society. Also was a financial crime, not violent or drug related. |

COC prevents me from saying what I really want to so I'll just say, if this isn't a troll thread OP you're making a big mistake.
Now let me say I guarantee I've dealt with more Inmates than anyone on this board. I've worked in a Jail for 28 yrs now. I've worked inmate processing for close to 20 of those. At our peak we've processed 14,000 annually, our slow years 8500. So I've dealt with thousands of inmates, face to face. You're making a big fucking mistake. |

One other thing, as Turnkey knows, inmates invariably have multiple stories. They have the story they tell you, the story they tell their family, the story they tell their friends, the story they tell LE, and the story they tell their lawyer. Some overlap, lots of lies.

View Quote I'm betting she's got a bit of a record beyond those three charges, and they're probably not all misdemeanors. It's going to take a fair number of priors to get her sentencing guidelines up to 3 years on larceny charges, because if this was her first bite at the apple her sentencing guidelines would probably be in the 1 day to 6 months range (assuming, as I suspect, that she actually has felony rather than misdemeanor convictions and the convictions are actually in VA). ETA: And if these were truly her first convictions, she'd likely really be looking at guidelines of "probation, no incarceration" or recommendations for "alternative punishment." It's going to take a bit to get her off of Section B of the Virginia Larceny Sentencing Guidelines and to Section C where the real time starts getting built up. And even on Section C, she'd need to have disqualifiers to keep her from getting the "alternative punishment" recommendation. Of course, this also assumes she didn't agree to do serious time instead of taking a felony conviction (which isn't unheard of if the defendant has no prior felony convictions). |
