I have been looking at a country clipper.

It's the only one I've found with a joystick steering.

You can get kawasaki or kohler and they have the 3100 hydros. Deck flips up for maintenance .

Looks to be well built . https://www.windstarequipment.com/product-lines/country-clipper/zero-turn-mowers/Residential-Mowers/XLT

I bought my Edge XLT in 2015, has 512 hrs on it now. It has the joystick, 60" deck, 24 hp Kaw. The stand-up deck is very handy. The pivoting front axle helps the 60" deck cut a little better too. I've only replaced 2 deck idler pulleys for repairs and changed rear tires to ATV type and added a Trac Seat suspension under the stock seat. The joystick is the one best feature of this mower - can't understand why most all ZTs don't use this type of steering. My model has the 2800 hydros - I've changed the oil/filters twice and they have been flawless in operation. The mower weighs 850 lbs and I weigh 225.

This site just cost me.  I sold my Toro SS5000 to a friend and picked up this Scag Tiger Cat II.  I was all set to get the Patriot, but saw this next to it.  Hell, I’m lucky I got out with just this one.  There was a Cheetah II, next to it. I had to fight myself over that one.

I wanted the 0%/48 months, but they add a $850 fee.  Never saw that crap before.  Passed on that.

It made quick work of last years oak leaves.  Tried to squeeze between my wife’s Crepe Myrtle’s and the pipe fence like I could with the Toro’s 50” deck.  Bent the plastic discharge chute up.  Oops.

I have a Bad Boy with a Kawi engine and 3200 hydros. It’s the ‘Outlaw’ model, I’d buy again but the end of the mowing season is when you should be shopping.

My Ferris has been a great machine and I love the suspension. Use a 2100z for last few years to mow about 4 acres. Go with Kawasaki motor not Briggs

Dealer support is a big thing though. Whatever dealers you have in your area stick with those brands whether it’s Deere, kubota, scab, Ferris etc. the box store stuff is shit generally

My Home Depot Toro got worked for 4 1/2 years.  Blades, belts and spindles. It served me well for how I used it.  The spindles is when I learned here about the Milwaukee 1/2 impact.  Now I have a dozen Milwaukee tools.

I did get the Kawasaki motor on the Scag.  It was actually the cheaper option versus the B&S or the Kohler,

Between the Kubota RTV and this Scag, it’s been an expensive month.

Y’all know of a good guide to maintain hydros?  Starting out from no knowledge about hydros.

Change the filters, change the oil according to the manual, keep them clean and blow off grass build up. That is really it.

Good hydros cost more but they will give you a hell of a long life.

Both my Kubota and the grasshopper run Parker wheel motors.

I own a Kubota. I avoid anything John Deere. I owned a John Deere zero turn over 20 years. John Deere dealer is peak incompetence anyone who says buy from a dealer never went to John Deere.

I've run Hustler and Ferris long term.  Did demo a Scag and liked it a lot.  Almost went with them but they were a little high locally.  Would include Exmark and Wright in that tier.  They all have plusses and minuses.  They're all expensive for good models.  Local support is an important consideration if you ever do any commercial mowing.  Different ones have finance and sale specials on and off.  JD and Grasshopper are a couple of others that come to mind as having good commercial mowers.  Toro has had a presence in the commercial market, too, but I've never mowed with one.

Ferris master race checking in.

IS 800z 52" deck Kawasaki motor.

40+ hours.

Suspension is a BIG selling point for uneven ground.

I'm going to look at a stihl 552 tomorrow(repainted Ferris isx 800 from the looks of it) and looked at a bad boy maverick hd today. All with 23.5 Kawi motors but I wouldn't mind the 28hp vanguard option. The suspension is what draws me to the stihl/ferris. The older I get the more I hate rough.

Where i once worked we had a SCAG 60” tiger cat.
It was a friggin tank.
They traded it in on a 60” tiger cat 2 that had an electronic screen.
Not nearly as  tuff as the tiger cat original.
Still a good mower though.
Gravely 60” looks pretty darn good right now.

Bought a Kubota 54 with a 24hp Kawasaki and a 3600 series hydro last year to replace a JD x370. Zero complaints and now I love to mow.

Scag Turf Tiger II 37hp 61” deck

Add a sand plate if you have sandy soil and do the required maintenance.

Added the LED light kit for when finishing up late.
