Skinny barrel CAR15 with iron sights.  Easier to run with...and if I am on my own, I am going to be doing a lot of running.

It would be a tough choice between the Fal or the SKS both are tough and are not prone to breakge.
Plus now days the ammo for both is common enough.

I guess where you live dictates how you will evac the area. and what is the preferred weapon of choice. And as it goes become good with the guns you have so it like a second reflex.

S.A. situational awareness it can save your hide. Better to not be in a situation where you need to shoot.

That's definitely my other choice - but if I'm in a garand mood, you are most welcome to stop by my house for the other one when the zombies are swarming!

I'll bring a copy of Saving Private Ryan... that's sure to put you in a Garand mood.

Got them both.

If I could have ANYTHING I'd probably go SIG550.

Or perhaps one of these.

Pump 12g 3" with buckshot and slugs.

Yes, I said it.  Neener neener.

Why?  Because you can do anything with it.  You can load up slugs and kill a deer.  You can load up buckshot (or keep the slugs) for zombies.  Heck you can shoot flares out of it if you need to.

A 12g kills like few other easily portable weapons.

With some of the rounds on this page you can't go wrong with the 12 g. Check out the bolo rounds and the fireball rounds, the zombies wouldn't stand a chance.

Good point.  I forgot to mention that, it was one of the reasons I thought of but didn't write down.

12g pump is one of the most versatile weapons there is!

From everything I have read about them I would take the HK91

Nothing lets you reach out and touch someone like .308

Except 30-06

Having trained with both the HK and garand, personally, I'd take the garand.

You ever trained with a Savage 99 in 308 win?

And as a side note really a savage mod 24 will let you have an over and under!

You can use the rifle cal to militarily aquire a MG,but you will need the lower shotgun to aquire flying game!!!

It's a real bitch duck hunting with an AK or an MP-5!!!

Not saying it can't be done!!!!

You got it right, the original post was the world as we knew it has ended, roving gangs of targets are everywhere, and you have ulimited ammo!!

That could only mean a 12 guage(pump or auto)cause nothing says loveing like a 500 grain lump of lead!  And bird shot is what it will take to take down a bird!!

And I hear some frustriated aunts will put out for deer meat!

Custom HK-91.(a REAL one ,not a clone)

Railed forearm for a Tango Down vertical grip ,
B&T low rail mount  to mount an Eotech 552
with Larue quick removal base.
Custom quick detach cheek rest.
Quick detach bipod for mounting on the front
of the forearm rail.
Good tactical sling.(Haven't picked one)
G3 heavy buffer and HK-21 buttpad.

Some 50 round HK drums would be nice to.

I'm working on it ,
except mines a clone (No imports anymore )
and 50 round HK drums go for over a $1,000
each   .
That's not gonna happen soon.
