What would it be?
I had a great time with my girlfriend last night. We're getting a little drunk and just talking about "stuff." I went to see "Black Hawk Down" last Saturday and I was talking about the scene where the Delta Guy was holding off the Somalies with an M-14. He died as he ran out of rounds. Being the music major that she is, she was wondering at the last moment, what song that guy would of liked to hear? Being the smart ass that I am, I told her he probably would of liked to hear a barrage of gunfire that would cut down the Somalies that are about to kill him. So, what kind of music would you like to hear if you were in an impossible situation and it would be the last song you would hear? |

I've always said if I knew I was going to die, and it was a slow one, like loss of blood or shock whatever, I would go out singing "knockin on heavens door".
It just fits the bill. |

"I feel like I'm fixin' to die" by Country Joe and the Fish, if I'm dying for something stupid.
"Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvanna if I am embracing this death. "Polly Wolly Doodle" should cover remaining situations. |

The Commandant's Own, the United States Marine Corps Drum and Bugle Corps, playing "The Marines' Hymn."

Something from metallicas black album, or Knockin' on Heaven's Door. All the songs you guys mentioned would be good ones too.

This is the song that never ends,
It just goes on and on my friends, Some people started singing it not knowing what it was And they’ll continue singing it forever just because, This is the song that never ends, It just goes on and on my friends, Some people started singing it not knowing what it was And they’ll continue singing it forever just because, This is the song that never ends, It just goes on and on my friends, Some people started singing it not knowing what it was And they’ll continue singing it forever just because, This is the song that never ends, It just goes on and on my friends, Some people started singing it not knowing what it was And they’ll continue singing it forever just because, This is the song that never ends, It just goes on and on my friends, Some people started singing it not knowing what it was And they’ll continue singing it forever just because, This is the song that never ends, It just goes on and on my friends, Some people started singing it not knowing what it was And they’ll continue singing it forever just because, This is the song that never ends.... |

This is an easy one, My Way. When Sinatra would introduce the song as the national anthem I always thought it was arrogent but yet rings true. It seems to me that the message in the words of that song are what many of us want to believe about ourselves.

American Pie by Don McClean. It's a nice, long song. While you guys would be dead aleady, I'd still have two verses to sing along with.z

A little dittie I just made up,
"The Sound You Hear Behind You Is The Claymore Wire Gone Tight." |

American Pie sounds good (Hey, no one said "Ride Of The Valkyries", "Also Sprach Zarathustra", or "The End" yet),,,,
. Honestly? . . The Loony Tunes theme - LOUD! |

How about the Star Spangled Banner played by bagpipes with a single snare drum. Yeah.
|
|
I want to hear the Star Spangled Banner, sung a capella, by every soldier, sailor, marine and airman (okay, throw in the Coast Guard, too), active duty, retired, regular or reserve, live in person from about 6 feet away. That way the clods on the other side can die with me.
If that can't be arranged, I want to hear the complete Ring Cycle on single-sided 78 rpm records, changed by a blind man with one hand, at 33 rpm, so as to take up as much time as possible. |

'Silent Lucidity' by Queensryche
One of the few songs that makes me feel like there's a God, and something better might be waiting for me when I leave this world. |

Just downloaded one that wouldn't be too bad to die by. Down to the River to Pray by The Soggy Bottom Boys.

"Hey Man Nice Shot" by Filter seems like a great song to go out to.
I guess it depends on if you are going out in a hail of gunfire or bleeding to death slowly on the battlefield. |
|
1812 overture. But done properly - with claymores instead of cannon, and some fuel tanks to absorb the backblast.
