Hiram, you and your family have my sincere condolences. Dealing with the loss of a family member is horrible and only made harder when the suspect remains unidentified and unaccountable.

I assume they are pushing this out to social media and local media as well? Someone who knows somebody that drives that kind of vehicle, who has not been driving it since the accident, is out there.

It does but there are plenty of illegals there as well, working in construction, landscaping, restaurants etc. They get together and rent houses in marginal areas of otherwise nice towns. It's been going on for decades.

Let's hope that whoever did this tries to resist arrest when he's found.

Is there not a way to pull cell phone call records for a particular area?
It appears the perp met someone else in the other car and that seems like a call would have been made to set that up.
With the video provided they should be able to narrow that down to a pretty specific window of time.
Cross reference those phones with names and motor vehicle records.

Or do I watch too much TV?

This, and if they are car guys they are probably gonna be checking local Craigslist and parts pull yards for parts. You can throw an ad up in the for sale, auto parts section and and you have any junk yards near there you could do some asking around if anyone came in searching for focus parts.

Indeed. Overall high income county, but it ain't all Saddle River. Newark and Paterson are one small river away. My hunch would be the perp was fleeing toward the latter.
