Nope, don't have anything the would point to me having a gun, No Sig Ball cap, No Colt T-Shirt, No NRA bumper sticker, so when the firing starts, I'm not singled out because of the advertisement, it will be a surprise when the gun come out.

I'm certainly not opposed to having the option, but carrying a title 1 weapon around all day would be a pain, and I already get detained by the cops for random things a lot as it is...

I dont think crime or society is bad enough now to warrant the extra effort and hassle that comes along with carrying one. Also I think it would cause way too much panic and confusion even in texas where the law allows it.

Now i wouldnt mind if my agency would allow me to open carry off duty. I think i would only take advantage of it maybe once a month but it would be nice if i was going to the movies and didnt want my gun jabbing me in the back for an hour. It would also come in handy when im walking around the dog park and dont want a hot and sweaty holster rubbing on me. Still, open carry of a rifle is allowed now in TX and i dont do it. I dont think open carry of a handgun is even a good idea except for specific situations.

Yup. It's a PITA sometimes compared to a pistol. On the FOB we used to argue over who got to carry the M-9. Luckily, us 240 gunners were issued one so we didn't have to fight over it.

I can carry my subgun openly or CCW as it's classified as a "pistol due to length in Michigan. For as fucked up as our gun laws were for a while, open carry of a firearm has always been legal regardless of the type. We can only CCW "pistols", which are any handgun as well as rifles and scatterguns shorter than 30". This means folding stock guns like the XCR, AKM underfolder and short rifles like the AUG and Beretta CX4 Storm are Good To Go.

I'm waiting for the day when someone carries an AK into a shopping mall and get skullfucked with a rubber chainsaw by 5 cities worth of SWAT teams.

As far as I know it is already perfectly legal in Arizona, and I've never had even the slightest inclination to carry an m16 or any other kind of long arm openly.

It is only on rare occasions i've felt it appropriate to open carry a handgun.

Wrong! To open carry in AZ the firearm must be in a holster, case or scabbard.

2. Carrying a deadly weapon without a permit pursuant to section 13-3112 concealed within immediate control of any person in or on a means of transportation; or

F. Subsection A, paragraph 1 of this section shall not apply to a weapon or weapons carried in a belt holster that is wholly or partially visible, or carried in a scabbard or case designed for carrying weapons that is wholly or partially visible or carried in luggage. Subsection A, paragraph 2 of this section shall not apply to a weapon or weapons carried in a case, holster, scabbard, pack or luggage that is carried within a means of transportation or within a storage compartment, map pocket, trunk or glove compartment of a means of transportation.

Interesting! I wonder if you could somehow alter a sling to such a configuration that you could argue it was also a scabbard or holster.

Why the hell would you? Just to look bad ass? Do you really want to carry something that big and heavy all day long? You guys must live in some really unsafe areas to need a real assault rifle to protect yourselves.

I sure would. Legally, I could walk around open carrying an unloaded rifle/shotgun. Even my 12.5" 870 or M14, but the thing is, I would have to have it unloaded and ammo in my pocket instead of in the gun. Also, I would definitely have the cops called on me anywhere I went and would get bs charges on me like disturbing the peace.

Yeah.  Sorry man, but you're wrong.  Section A, Paragraphs 1 and 2 apply only to concealed weapons.

ETA:  I know it's kind of in lawyer speak, but it clearly states Concealed and Pursuant to 13-3112, which is the CWP Statute.

No, I'd think more about snatching a rifle.

A rifle is the last thing you want to lug around, by yourself, doing daily chores, of petty thievery or street crime is high.
