Quoted: I bet they still have their stupid ass proprietary light rail though. Quoted: Quoted: No, Glock says they are changing due to listening to end users. No trigger pull, Red Dot ready, and a trigger guard undercut. They come out 2026 in 9mm. 40 cal will be following. No more 45 GAP or 357 Sig. I bet they still have their stupid ass proprietary light rail though. The only company that does that is H&K. Edit: Unless you're talking about sub compact fitting onto a compact frame, then that's all companies that make guns or lights. |

Quoted: Since the door has been opened to striker fired pistols being -bad-, and no frame safety on glocks, probably the m9a4 or another da/sa pistol of some sort. S&W M&P. Made in the USA. Available in a number of barrel lengths. Available in a number of frame sizes. Available with or without optics, Available manual safety (or not), Grip options to fit all sizes of hands well proven dependable over a decade. Bigger_Hammer

Quoted: They seem to have improved on the Glock in just about every way. And they offer it with a manual safety. Does the M&P need the trigger pulled to be taken down? I haven't ever owned one, and haven't shot one in many years. NO - You do NOT need to pull the trigger to take down the S&W M&P. That and the manual safety options - magazine safeties options are better for a "issue" weapon. Bigger_Hammer

Quoted: Except for the thousands of people who have fired their Glock when they were just cleaning their gun. Quoted: Quoted: Glock. They're producing a quality product now and can meet the simple standard of "Don't blow off your user's balls" Except for the thousands of people who have fired their Glock when they were just cleaning their gun. That’s because they’re retarded not because the gun is unsafe |
|
Would probably be that. Already in use with special forces. Glock can probably meet demand to deliver them timely. I suppose HK would be an option. Though I also assume they will still want a modular handgun, and I assume Glock has that. Glock 48 or something that can swap between 19 and 17 length slides and grips? Apparently Coast Guard also issues Glock 19s. |

Bigger_Hammer ![]() I still don’t understand why people get worked up over pulling the trigger to break a Glock down. The gun should be unloaded prior to disassembly, and you should not be retarded (collective you) |

Quoted: How many people in the military have a use for swapping the fire control group around? Some small number of police or commando types might occasionally be in plainclothes? Do they really need something smaller than a Glock 19? If so how many smaller Glock 26 would they really need to buy? The swappable trigger control group looked cool, I bought an early 320, but was it necessary? Don't think of it as end user modularity. Think of it for armorers servicing a battalion's amount of handguns off and on throughout a year. |

Quoted: If I really wanted to replace the Beretta, I would have chosen Glock. Not because I'm a fanboy, I'm not. But it is the better tool. I imagine the Sig fit some woman's hand better or the fix was in. |
|
Quoted: As much as I personally dislike them(they feel odd in y hand), Glock is the obvious choice here. The design would work well under battlefield conditions, would be easy to maintain, etc. |
|
Quoted: Did Glock ever sell a model with a thumb safety? Not commercially. Glock has done two different thumb safety models for various non U.S. law enforcement agencies and military organizations. They also developed a G17 Gen 4 with a push button /cross bolt safety, similar to the safety on the L85 rifle for the UK military though the UK wound up adopting the standard G17 Gen 4. |

Bigger_Hammer ![]() Personally I’m a big fan of the M&P 2.0, and so shoot them well. However: 1) the CORE modular optics system sucks. 2) 9mm S&W 2.0 are much better than 1.0s but accuracy with stock barrels is still inconsistent. 3) For an Agency /GOV or MIL organization S&W customer service sucks to deal with. |

Quoted: The beretta PIP was the easy button solution but obviously didn't waste enough taxpayer money. If we had any brains at all they'd re up that contract /program. Otherwise Glock. Again, any brains at all and the Glock COA. It would take the Army to actually take pistol training seriously and so of course that won't happen either. |
|
This would be the correct answer for the DoD |

Quoted: Objectively speaking as a taxpayer, a Glock pistol. Its one of those rare items that can meet all three components of the Iron Triangle. It's good, it's relatively cheap, and you can get them fast. Easy for end users to use and maintain, and easy to repair at the armorer level. 100% this. Gov't retards always cock this stuff up and waste PILES of taxpayer money. Fk'n absurd. |

The question should be, "what does this pistol do that is EXCEPTIONALLY better than what the Glock is going to deliver to our officers/agents/soldiers? I don't care what the end users like or don't like, just that the pistol is sufficient to do the job. |

Glock 17 for masses as standard sidearm, Glock 19 or 26 as needed for SOF, CID or others who may need to conceal. Easy peasy. Keep M4 platforn in 5.56 for standard issue rifle. The 7.62 x 51 was already available for those who needed a larger caliber, DMR, machine guns, etc. These rifles and calibers serve well in their roles with currently ammunition that is available for them now. The military loves to reinvent the wheel and create solutions looking for a problem at massive costs to taxpayers. |
| I feel like this whole ordeal could be a rom-com. .gov is finally single and looking for their new SO. They find someone and it bows up in their face horribly and meanwhile their high school sweet heart is just kind of just sitting there waiting for them. Just fucking pick Glock already and knock this shit off |
|
It doesn’t impact my life in the slightest, so I don’t care. I like the P320, but I don’t care if anyone else uses it. I don’t need outside validation. For the military I don’t care if they even issue pistols. Just get the cheapest thing that goes bang. Police, again, I don’t care. Whatever the staff likes the best. If the decision was up to me and it couldn’t be a P320, it would be tough. I don’t like the Glock grip angle, but I suspect most don’t notice. I actually don’t love the PPQ. The VP9 I hate the mag release. The 509 I like, maybe that. No fucking SAI ever, so the XD is out. Unless gotten directly from HS. Maybe an M&P, I haven’t tried the 2.0 yet. |

Given HK invented the accessory rail on the USP, everyone else has a proprietary rail. I hate to break the news to you, but Springfield Armory made 1911 pistols for FBI HRT. Being the first with light rails. H&K only being able to use their light was what prevented me from buying one as my off duty gun. We used the USP as our duty weapon. |
|
Quoted: Given HK invented the accessory rail on the USP, everyone else has a proprietary rail. Interesting use of the word "proprietary" considering that nobody else uses the HK rail, and most other manufacturers use rails that allow accessories to interchange amongst each other |

Glock 47 and Glock 19 I don’t even like Glocks but it’s hard to argue with these as a quick, reliable, and inexpensive way to fill the holsters across the board. But first someone has to fix the stupid DOD notion that defensive pistols should have manual safeties. Military procurement can be unbelievably retarded though and they often seem to pull requirements out of thin air. |

Quoted: Except for the thousands of people who have fired their Glock when they were just cleaning their gun. You can make things idiot resistant, but you can never make things idiot proof. The minute you do, God makes better idiots and bypasses your fix... If you are too stupid to check, recheck, and recheck a third time before you pull a trigger on a gun you "think" is empty, then you probably are too stupid to handle firearms unsupervised. As to why does everything think glock is the standard? Because 30+ years, and millions of pistols all using the same time tested design have proven it works. Simply put, no other pistol can be as abused and neglected as a glock can, and still go bang every time. The military abuses equipment. The military neglects equipment. Submerged in water? Mud? Dust? Sand? No problem, the maintenance on those fire arms in the field consists of "wipe it down with some paper towels or a rag, or an old sock, throw some oil on it, and lets go..." A glock can still function under those conditions... As time has shown for decades |
