Neat, but I'll stick to my 14.5" 6.8SPC AR, with a Vortex 2-7x.

It'll work.
I'm thinking my Ruger American 243 with a 3-9x40 Nikon scope is about perfect for my deer hunting uses. |
|
I reject your suggestion.
I'll stick with my 30-06 bolt action and kill anything in north america at ranges extending past my own skill set. |

For me it was a 6mm Remington, sadly the .243 beat it out in that caliber.

There are far superior calibers.
25-06, .270, .308, 30-06, 30/30, .300 win mag, .300 weatherby While CZ makes a nice firearm… others could be considered a well. Browning A bolt, Browning X bolt, Steyr Prohunter, Winchester, Ruger, Marlin… I could go on, but is that really necessary? |

Lose the box magazine and I like it. It ruins the lines, is something to lose and contributes nothing.

I've always liked the look of Mannlicher stocks. Ruger has/had a 10/22 with a Mannlicher stock. I wanted to get one in stainless and put a decent stainless scope on it. Sharp looking setup View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

The basic train of thought is that if it's not a 760 or 7600 in .30-06 that you can't kill deer. People scoffed at my measly .243Win and claimed it's a kids round for starting off. In over 20 deer I've taken with that rifle none walked further than 30 yds before they were DRT. Many folks are probably moving on since the 7600 has gotten a bit pricey. View Quote |

I think that caliber makes a lot of sense for someone who does not reload. Cheap ammo is available for a lot of practice. The more practice you get, the more accurate you should be.
The rifle is also perfectly sized for the cartridge and is designed to handle the cheaper steel cased ammo. Good hunting ammo made in the USA is available. |

It's gorgeous. I love these little rifles. You get extra credit for the traditional sling and compact scope.

Nice rifle but the caliber choice is full of derp given the .243, .308, .260, etc. There would come a time that you would want to 2-7x or 2.5-8x in my case. And a bit more trajectory. Had you said "woods gun for east of the Mississippi", you would have been a bit closer to the target. As I stated, nice rifle though. |
