The lower came from the price table of a 3 gun match I won. It has a gun shop engraved on it, I don’t know who actually made it. I have nicer receivers that I’ve won bigger matches with, but none that brought me as much satisfaction.

Vltor upper, it was a cosmetic blem I think. I’ve had it a long time, it’s been on several builds.

Knights URX 3.1 rail, shaved so it torques onto the upper with no gap. Black Friday sale a few years back.

Ballistic Advantage 16” midlength barrel. It was supposed to be temporary, I have a Lothar Walther blank that I need to cut for this rifle, but it’s been like 3 years and I haven’t gotten to it yet. It shoots really well as is, but eventually I’ll get around to cutting a 14.5” LW50 barrel for it.

Surefire Socom SB, from the Arms Unlimited sale a couple years ago. We did a group buy and got them even cheaper.

Nightforce NX8. Got it for a screaming deal, and Nightforce was running a promotion for a free mount.

Geissele SD-E trigger and BAD selector. You guessed it, on sale.

Magpul K2 grip, Sopmod stock, and Radian Raptor charging handle. I think I paid full price for those.

Magpul FDE and Patriot Brown Cerakote done by myself.

It has really good bones, but nearly all of it was got at a deep discount. This is the only one of the rifles I use frequently that I didn’t chamber myself, but it’s a deer killing machine. I’m using Magtech Mk262 ammo, 77 SMK’s. Some people complain about the lack of a blood trail, but I’ve never had to trail one.

My daughter was using a mostly Aero rifle in .300 Blackout.

I think I may take it through one more round of peroxide. The front bones came loose during the sous vide simmer, so I glued them back on with acrylic glue (recommended from another forum).

If AR’s are kosher to hunt with there, I’d be really tempted to put one together in .350 Legend. That would be a fun rifle.

They are. I have a buddy who uses a 350 upper. I've been wanting to put on together, as well, but after sighting in the prism on the Benelli m4 to 100 yards for bear hunting season last month, I think I'll give that a go this year. I love carrying that thing.

I have really enjoyed the .350 single shot I got for my daughter. She killed her first deer with it and it's accurate, light, handy in a treestand, came threaded for a can, and has a very good trigger for a single shot. I just can't find any significant fault with it.

After a slow start, last nights cold front seemed to have pushed our local deer into daylight activity.

Saw six does/fawns today, then a small 6 point, then this guy. 90 yard shot, he stepped forward as the shot broke but I got the liver and one lung and he only went ~20 yards and laid down. Before I could reload his head was down for keeps.

Same stand my daughter killed her deer from 2 weeks ago. I rarely hunt there but the wind was right for it today.

I like week days the best.  Deer aren't pressured and running around.

Double lung, little low, missed the heart.  Any heart recipies?  Probably do the standby of stroganoff over homemade spaetzle.

Just cutting the heart into little strips and pan-frying with onions is my go to.

I missed a little buck on Tuesday... weather was shit, rain/snow mix, I took my son, and we were just hunting from the ground, see deer out in a cut bean field, we crawl to the edge, and there is a little retarded looking 4 point out that i passed a few days earlier with my bow, because i want to get one with my son (he is 6)

Range finder wouldnt work worth a shit, didn't have scope covers, and couldn't clear my lenses, they were foggy, it was foggy in the field, just shit.

Well, i guessed them to be 150 yards, and my new Marlin was sighted in @ 100 with handloads, they should only drop 3" (45-70) well, I missed 3 fucking times because they all just stood around and last shot he left the field i walked to check for sign, and could not find any blood, and scanned next area with my thermal and could not find anything... So, I have a fear I mixed up handloads and my rifle is sighted in with a different load than i loaded up that same morning. have to start over on targets to see if I just suck, or if i just fucked up.

I'm taking my 6.5CM this weekend up north, and I have 100% confidence with that and the ammo I am using, so hopefully we have more success. I will also be in a blind lol

Decent little 9 point was the nicest buck I saw in a week of sitting.
Shot right thru the heart with a .25 100gr TSX and he still managed to run 80 yds to nearly cross the fence to the neighbors.

Got him last Sunday, first time I've been able to deer hunt the last few years since we finished combining at a reasonable time. About 150 yd shot with the .30-30 my wife gave me as a wedding gift, a 1929 model Winchester. Caped it and having it mounted, it'll be my first actual mount. I've had antlers mounted in the past but this is easily the most impressive one I've ever shot and I can't imagine topping it in my area. Hard to see in the photo but it has quite a few stickers poking out on each side.

Hunting tip.

When it’s really cold, I put those heat packs / toe warmers inside my scent rag, to preventing it from freezing solid and the heat helps release more scent .

Great deer. Grew up in Illinois, got to Texas as soon as I could. Didn't get big into hunting until I was here, kinda wish I had the chance to chase an Illinois whitetail. I probably have the connections to make it happen, just not sure I want to spend the money and support the state.
