For me, it's usually 5 or 6 on work nights. I might seldom get a couple hours more on the weekend, but not usually. I really don't like sleeping like some people do. Life's to cool to waste it sleeping.

I know some people who revel in sleeping. They've annoyed me most of my life.

I average 4 hrs a nite..over a month I will go anywhere from 1-3 nites with no sleep, then a nite or two with 6-8 hrs sleep and the rest run 3-5 hrs... been like that since the wreck in 2013...the more I sleep, the worse I hurt....the more lethargic I am and the worse my headaches are overall.....kind of sucks, but it is what it is....

Maybe you are a "short sleeper". I am. I rarely sleep more than 3 - 5 hours a night. Was diagnosed as a short sleeper ~25 years ago. Less than 1% of the world population last I checked. No ill effects for short sleepers, but not so for those with real insomnia.

I am retired so I can sleep when I want to, usually at 10pm. I have to take sleeping pills if I want to get more than 3 hours of sleep, so I get 8-9 hours a night.

6-7 hours a night and I’m good.

If I’m short sleep over several days I can catch up, but  if I’ve been getting 6-7 hours I get tired sleeping more.

I needed more when I was younger.

7-8 and I do pretty good. Sleep, however much you require, is one of the most important things a person can do to stay healthy.

It varies.

No work tomorrow.

Daughter sleeping here next to me is making me tired.

She usually gets up around 7:30am. I might get caught up and super sleep from 11pm till whatever time she gets up.

Otherwise there is are days I'm midnight to 7:30am or 11pm to 6am.

It's all across the board.

This.  I'm usually 10-6 on weeknights.  Weekends I'll go 11pm or 12pm to 7am or so.

4-6 a night. I can do 3-4 for a few weeks at a time, but I will crash eventually and I'll sleep 10+ plus a night for a few days.

It depends on what time of the year it is and what's scheduled that week or 2 out.

Winter months I sleep about 1hr per night more than I do in the summer.

If that's a real thing, then that's probably what I am. It's varied over my lifetime, though. My sleep habits have fluctuated wildly, depending on the habits of my friends, and the demands of my job.

I try to go to bed about 8:30-9pm and wake up at 4:45am. 8 hours is about perfect for me to be productive the next day. Any less than 5 and I'm only good until the coffee wears off.

I have to have 8 on a routine basis, but I feel better with 9.
I can function just fine on 6 for a few days but then I need to catch up on sleep.

Since retiring, I'm getting 7-8 hours nightly.  When working it was probably closer to 5 hours nightly.  I also think quitting drinking has helped my sleep schedule too.

8-9.  Less than 8 and I am off all day.

I got by on far less when I was younger.  Now I don't need to.

Lucky to get 5 hours straight. My mind is too active.

I can go to sleep within a minute or two in most any situation. Usually how I spend my lunch break.

My woman does a solid 9 every day, more on the weekends. Causes some strife sometimes--she screams rape when I whack her with wood at 8am on a Saturday

When I was 15-20, I could crash for 14+ hours. Kind of miss those days.

Yep, the long you lay in bed the worse it is trying to move when you wake up, fortunately the nightmares wake me up after about an hour and I give up. I've been up 4 nights this week already.

This, physically demanding job and life. In bed at 9, up at 5. No alarm needed. Sometimes woken up at night by my kids, but otherwise I sleep through.

I LOVE it when I can get 11+ but given my schedule that never happens. I feel it all day long.

Even at 47, I have NO problem falling right asleep as soon as I get in bed.

Fuck. I wish I could run on 4 hours of sleep consistently like some of you guys. I'd get so much stuff done.

I regularly get 1-5 hours on weekends during hunting season but I have to make up for it by getting a full 8 during the work week.

Now, I'm with OP...about 5-6 hrs a night roughly.

Alarm is set for 0300...it's actually about 30 minutes fast for a couple of snoozes .

Go to bed about 2100.

Every once in a while I stay at my best friend's place and get to spend the night on an old Serta or something queen size bed that his aunt had.
I tend to get the best sleep for HOURS in that old bed!  Like 8 or 9 and on occasion, 12 hours solid sleep.

Turns out that bed has the same effect on other members of his family.
It just flat knocks you OUT!

Back to real life, it's usually 4-6 hours a night.
My mom told me I've always been like this.

I can't explain it.
