Funerals in my mind, are totally bizarre and insane. I just want the part at the cemetery. Viewing a dead body in make up and a suit just drives the people that love them insane. That is what you will remember about the person, at least I do. I am 51 and the viewing still creeps me out beyond belief. I threatened to haunt my wife if she dresses me up for everyone to look at. ONe of the funniest funeral scenes i have seen is East bound and down when Kenny Powers goes to his friends funeral. That really made me laugh until I couldnt catch my breath. Not everyone does open casket. And in Florida, in the heat, it's easier to do a funeral in a funeral home, then go to the grave site for the burial. |

Prayer is always a good exit strategy! The Amen is a signal of closing. People will follow that lead especially when you exit the the podium afterward. Another nice touch is to say "thank you for attending the celebration of my grandfathers life this concludes the service". Then gracefully exit the podium. God Bless you I'll keep you in my prayers. I like this, because it officially ends it. I always end eulogies with prayer. BUT NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO MAKE SURE YOU TELL THE FUNERAL HOME DIRECTOR HOW YOU'RE GOING TO END IT!!!! Otherwise you'll finish up and everyone will sit there looking at you trying to figure out what to do next. |

Something tasteful. So many people see funerals as glum and boring, a time to mourn the dead. Really, they're a time to cherish life... Sometimes you gotta smack people in the head a bit to wake them up. |
