Drone swarms have been harassing the Langley F22 flight line for months. My working theory is they’re being launched from freight containers on freighters in the channel. Flying close to the water up Back River and then moving on to harass the flight line.

Exactly.  Once Biden is re-elected and the Congress goes full democrat they can do anything they want and take anything they want away.  The Supreme Court will only be a nuisance that they will ignore until they pack it or replace a justice or two, bringing it to the Left also.

Drone surveillance will be a real thing with deadly force attacks available as needed.

I'm disappointed at the lack of hackers.

I need somebody to develop an optical scanning program that will allow consumer drones to fly up and detect other drones within a mile or two radius, then intercept and destroy them, kamikaze style. Totally autonomous, launch and forget. If it doesn't see anything it lands to be used again, or if it's cheap enough, it just self-destructs. This probably wouldn't work with drones like reapers, but should work against other smaller drones.

No signals to jam. No skilled operator needed.

I also want someone to develop hacks to make my dishwasher use more water so it actually WASHES the dishes.

The lack of people doing these things needs to be addressed if we're going to succeed during the coming troubles.

These sleeper cells keep not happening. How long have they been asleep? 20 years? 40? 60? Is it really a "sleeper cell" if it's Joe Immigrant # 57000 seeking a better life at the 7-11?

If there were 10% of the sleeper cells the fearmongers claim we'd have been neck deep in exploding transformers, mass shootings or soccermom harems 15 years ago.

A reaper drone flew over my neighborhood last week at less than 500ft, saw no visible weapons. Kinda weird since a Cessna 172 looked to be following it at less than 1/4 mile at same altitude. I survived.

If a UAS like a Reaper flies through unrestricted airspace, it must have an aerial observer escorting/observing it.

Can’t remember for certain if a TFR coordinated through the FAA circumvents the escort requirement.  I think it does, but could be wrong.

It's just like Ukraine when you put it that way: no need for drones. There are bio-robots. Bureaucrats. Cops. But unlike the wars far away, American thugs aren't exactly keen on dumping us in mass graves.

Yes.  Ironically, it is far easier to manufacture explosives than drugs.  The precursors are widely available as they are dual use.

Frankly I'm surprised we haven't heard about them already.

I know my DoD agency table-top exercised a drone attack at least ten years ago.

My thought was to have a flock of them FOD (foreign object damage) a jet engine by flying up and into the flight path of the aircraft in the take off pattern. With many aircraft flying out over residential areas you get a two-for-one event.

I don’t doubt that we’ll see drone terrorist attacks here, but the thing that is hard to get here is the warheads for the drones.  The ones being used in Ukraine drop hand grenades, mortar shells, or have RPG warheads strapped to them.  If terrorist had easy access to those type of weapons here in the US, I imagine they would have used them already.

I am not thinking of war but more about terrorists.

With our border being wide open for illegals and drugs I would think some in power who do not have their heads up their ass might be concerned about the ordnance being smuggled in and how it could be used in conjunction with drones here. Think of Times Square on NYE, major parades etc.

Whilst jamming a signal is challenging, there are ways to make electronics very unhappy, ie microwave radiation will render a drone useless almost immediately.

Hopefully the Russians can continue to make headway on this issue. The Ukrainians are using repeaters to get the operators farther from the frontline because so many were becoming artillery bait. A video came out last week showing the Russian forces hijacking and landing a Ukrainian FPV  drone near berdychi using electronic warfare.

Also there are claims that the Russians are examining batteries from the NASA mars program, sent to Ukraine to power drones during subzero temperatures this past winter

the danger is real that former AFU personnel will start taking out their grudges outside the territory of Ukraine with drones in the future, and the same cheap tactics being used by any number of anti US actors

Go on ...

[DON'T! ]

I was constrained for 40-years of my career due to my clearance. I was allowed to read Inspire* when it was still actively published and gee wiz they break down to the 6th grade education level how to build a bomb, how to best smuggle it aboard, and where the best place to sit was to bring the aircraft down. It was a slick high-tech read with colorful graphics and cut-lines of the profit interspersed. It was at least as polished as many US on-line magazines of that time. I understand it's being published again.

* Inspire is a terrorist organization's on-line magazine covering things like Islamic faith, the faithful's responsibility to the jihad, the latest American outrage against Islam, and how-tos like bomb building. Going to their site from most work computers behind firewalls will get you on a list. If your first name is something like Petty Officer, GS-14, or Corporal it might get you in trouble.

Hell from what I've read and surmised from the open press this post is being scrutinized, analyzed, and stored for future reference. I'd bet during my time under clearance that stack-of-stuff got looked at by a human once in a great while. With AI processing that analysis will get better and better.

Hi FBI, hope you're one of the good ones.

There was already a large drone swarm at Langley AFB, home of Air Combat Command and F-22s.  Who needs to worry about fighting a wing of 5th gen fighters if you can destroy them all on the ground at their home base?  Heck, you could also hunt down specific people with drones.  They still don't know who was behind it.

Seems the nightmare scenario would be unannounced, all out drone warfare against someone who wasn't expecting it.  It would be like the opening scenes of literally any alien invasion movie.

Nobody is prepared for it.

Honestly, it would be extremely easy and highly effective for the FFBI terrorists to perform such an act. I can definitely see it happening, to one degree or another, on various sorts of targets both biological and inanimate objects.

Even a lone pilot operating multiple drones could wreak a lot of havoc and put much fear in the average citizen.

And we all know how much the FFB terrorists take joy in instilling fear into their fellow citizens witnesses. Sooner or later; you know as well as I.
