A few times in life

The first, I was very young and my mom stopped at the grocery store and left me in the car (locked).  This is a small town grocery, everybody knows everybody type thing.  Somebody I didn't know came up to my car and knocked on the door.  He tried to get me to talk with him then asked me to unlock the door a few times.  As somebody else came out of the store he eventually walked away pretty quickly.  Too date, I'm positive if I had opened the door I would have never been seen again.

Was in Seatle some years ago for a conference.  Have to do a lot of walking to get anywhere there.  I got stopped by some pan handler.  Never in my life as an adult did I see the look of absolute hate in somebodies gaze as that person.  I just get the fuck out of there.

Was at a gun shop once (more of an FFL drop shop than anything else) and some guy came in to buy a gun, no car.  I was chatting with the owner, just shooting the shit about politics and stuff.  The guy looked pretty off, very shifty, but good lord when I got a look at his face it was just wrong.  The guy asked for a cheap gun and the owner saw what I saw and asked him to leave, then called the cops as soon as he was out the door.  I have no idea what happened after.

A couple of times wondering the world and a couple of times as a LEO. The only time I have felt like evil was enveloping me, was being in the death row cell with a soon to be executed inmate. I even sat in the electric chair and didn’t feel too bad.

Had a straight up possessed guy approach us and began to rattle off our names and why we “weren’t welcome there and to leave THEM (he was alone) alone”. Usually still quite a few snowbirds camping pull into a wash and see a burned down motorhome. Drive past a couple run down motorhomes couple vans camped dark no one outside etc. drive around a lil more said f this didn’t feel right and moved a couple more miles to another where people camp.

Felt a lot better some people were out didn’t look trashy etc. even though I was armed it just didn’t feel safe at the first spot. Have a friend who lives in town said I made the right move when I told him about.

I've never made the connection, but possibly my first paranormal experience happened after I left an Indian reservation.  I was very young and we had been to a Powwow and I rode with my aunt and uncle back to town.  My uncle was a member of the tribe and my memory is that he was telling me and his kids something supernatural and my memory is of being in another realm, facing a huge wall.  It's bizarre and doesn't make sense, but that's my memory.

Years later, I was a teenager and was having recurring dreams that he had died.  On a Saturday night, one of my buddies stayed over at my house and I woke up in the middle of the night with him screaming that there was a white mist in the air above me.  I told him to STFU and go back to sleep.  Shortly after that, the phone range and my cousin told me that uncle had been killed in a car wreck that night.

I don't know that it is necessarily 'evil', but I have had experience with a location that tracks with how I've heard other people describe the phenomenom.

My paternal grandfather owns a house in a moderately large city.  It's a very old house; it's his family's house from before the city became populated.  It was the center of a sizeable farm or estate, but the city grew up around it, and all that's left is the house and an outbuilding across the street.  Both buildings were partitioned into apartments years and years ago.  My grandpa's half-brother maintains the front apartment of the main house, and for my whole life, it's always been a place where members of my family have been welcome to stay when we're in the area or passing through.  Despite its age, the house feels comfortable in a hard-to-describe way, like an old pair of broken-in sneakers, like I belong there.

Except for the downstairs bathroom.  It's a little powder room tucked away behind the kitchen, just a toilet, sink, and mirror.  It feels wrong in there.  Every time I've been in that bathroom, I feel on edge, my hackles rise, and I get goosebumps, like something terrible is about to happen.  I've been in almost every part of the house around that bathroom, on the other side of the walls, both inside and outside, and everything feels perfectly fine.  But the inside of that bathroom is unsettling and disturbing.  It doesn't feel malevolent or like there's a spiritual presence; it is just wrong and eerie.  I've always assumed something terrible happened there, either in the bathroom itself, or in whatever part of the house was there before it was sectioned off into apartments, but I've never been able to turn up any concrete info.

My mom swears up and down that the entire house is haunted.  She had a few experiences decades ago where items moved themselves around and doors locked themselves when she wasn't looking; she refuses to stay there.  My wife (who is much more sensitive to this sort of thing than me) hasn't had any mysterious things happen, but she agrees with me that the downstairs bathroom is very 'off'.

So one of my superpowers is that I'm highly sensitive to mold; I can now sense it in seconds and it absolutely wrecks me - labored breathing, headache (to the point  of affecting vision), tinnitus screaming.  An "off" room may have a mold problem that your body responds to in unfamiliar ways.  If you sleep in a bedroom with mold, it can result in very messed up dreams.  A room in my parents old house had it and whoever drew the short straw would feel miserable after a single night.  Plenty of old homes have mold and in traveling my most recent episode was a staircase in a old estate converted to a hotel in Opatija, Croatia.  Hard to describe but when the scent hit my brain the response was akin to getting punched in the face.

Automechanic and a lot of hiking in California.

Have been in a small number of cars (I think 3 total in 20 years) where you could tell something was mentally wrong with the owner in a dangerous way. I know one of the cars for sure someone did die in (news article was found with the owners name, there were reasons it was googled).

Some homeless encampments if you’re hiking that are hidden. Generally the further off the beaten path a homeless encampment is in California the sketchier they seem to be. If they are done well, cleanish, and off the beaten path the sketchy feeling is worse (there is a less traveled train track by me, uphill scrambling to get to, and a homeless “home” buried partially at grade/in the hillside with well done chain link covering it and camouflage cloth over that).

Some of the homeless people. We had one that would carjack, steal cars, get in police pursuits, hit and runs, and California kept letting him out. The few times I saw him on the street he looked crazy. Even said on Nextdoor this guy was going to kill someone and it’s everyone that voted liberal fault. Sure enough he killed someone. https://www.kron4.com/news/bay-area/man-with-lengthy-criminal-history-arrested-for-fremont-homicide/

There’s a Canyon by me I like to hike. 1.65 miles to the top with 800’ of elevation gain. Bodies have been buried, dumped, executions, car crashes, and that’s just the stuff where people found something. I like evening hiking to see bobcats and mountain lions but sometimes it feels off.

Yes.   Lots of family drama involved here, but sit tight.

Brother lived next door to Mom and Dad in a house Mom bought, but he was supposedly making the payments. He had declared bankruptcy a few years earlier.  A couple years earlier he had our parents start a family trust.  Of course after dad died, he had mom sign papers making him trustee by lying to her saying she was just signing typical death stuff removing dad.
He was also spending her money via the debit card she gave him to pick up her groceries or take out food. To the tune of over $36,000.

He sold the house he lived in since his wife left him and rented her own house.  He forced his way back in to her small cottage and tried to pocket the $56,000 cash he got from the sale.

He was pushing to get a conservatorship over her, put her in assisted living and live in her home under the trust.   One of the first signs was he had her refinance with an additional $50,000 down so he could afford the mortgage payment.

We pulled the plug and lawyered up on him.  We (me, my attorney, brothers attorney, moms attorney, mediator and guardian attorney assigned to mom) at her home for mediation before a full court case.  Every lawyer there agreed and told him the judge would have given him a place to live for 6-18 months if he didn’t agree to our demands.

We walked in and he was sitting in a wing back chair in Moms living room.  I looked at him and I saw the devil.  Pure evil.  He didn’t look the same. Granted, I had not seen him in a few months.  But he just oozed pure evil. Maybe I was skewed because of what I had learned about him in the last few weeks.

Needless to say, evil lost out that day.  His structured takeover plans were destroyed.  Everything he worked for was moot.  The coup de gras was after mom passed and I was settling the estate I got to send him the 2nd Amendment of Moms will giving me the first $46,000 cash from her estate and the Trust to equal the cash he stole and the loans she gave him for cars he never paid back.

Sadly, he was mom’s favorite.  She looked down on me and all of my life decisions like marrying a Catholic girl and raising the kids in the Catholic Church.  Or having a drink now and then, or driving an old car.  No matter what I did, she was always negative about it.
If he had just came to her and told her his plans she would have gone along with it no questions asked.  But here I was taking care of her until end of life.
Even her dental assistant pulled me aside and asked me how I did it after hearing the stories from her.

When I was around 12 - 14 years old and summer vacation started my parents had me pack for a trip out to California to visit an old USN friend of theirs in California. If I recall correctly these friends lived in San Jose.
During the course of the visit, which lasted about a week, dad and the guy he served with went golfing one day. I wasn't much of a golfer, as I had an incurable hook, stayed with mom. The wife of dad's friend invited mom and I to go visit a friend of hers that lived a short drive away and we both agreed to tag along.
I still remember this encounter to this day even after around 50 years have passed. So we pull up in front of the house and park on the street. I remember sensing something odd about the location and I mention this to my mother. There was nothing unusual about the house or anything else surrounding it. Just another ranch style house in another typical California subdivision.
We all get out of the car and start walking up to the front door. Before we reach the front door, a woman comes around the corner of the house calling for her cat and at the same time asks us if we saw it. We tell that we hadn't seen the cat and exchange greetings and she leads us into the house. There was nothing unusual about this woman, no unusual attire or characteristics.
We all enter the house and go to the dining area next to the kitchen. On the way we had passed a completely open room (no doors, just three walls) that was slightly lower than the hall leading to the dining area. On the way in I had noticed that there were several bookshelves full of books and so I dubbed it the library.
I asked the owner of the house if I could look through her collection of books and she told me that I was welcome to. While my mother and the two women stayed in the dining room I go into the library. This is where I find my reason for sensing something odd earlier out in the car. The library shelves were full of books such as a Satanic bible, demonology, witchcraft etc..
I walk back to the dining room and while the two women were engaged in a conversation I lean down and whisper in my mother's ear that I am going back out to the car to wait for the visit to be over. She looks at me with a curious look in her eyes and acknowledges me.
Later that day, when we get back to our friend's house, I explained my reasons for going out to the car during the visit to my mother. Mother was a devout Catholic and looked at me with a concerned look in her eyes as I relayed the details of what I had sensed and found. I hadn't sensed anything unusual about my parent's USN friend or the friend's wife and found nothing unusual in their house.

Not evil, but my wife and I had the same thing happen. Staying in a hotel in Ibiza and we both had these really vivid dreams of our dog at the time drowning. We saw her, but we couldn't save her, variations on that. Neither of us have dreams like that normally, so it really stood out.

Turns out someone had drowned in the pool a few weeks earlier, and a month before that on the beach in front of the hotel. Drugs are bad mmmk.

I used to train at Kennesaw Mountain, there are some great running trails in the park. I would run 8-10 miles several times a week there, often with a weighted pack on. One day I got a late start on the trail that goes up the big mountain and down the backside of Little Kennesaw, I stopped a few times because I thought I heard someone behind me. It was dark by the time I got back to my car and a park officer was there about to write me a ticket, I was parked right where the trail crosses Dallas highway from Cheatham Hill on the side of the road. I told him I felt like I was being followed and he said he hears that all the time.

This right here. I was there in late September of 2019 with my youngest daughter. We were staying in the town of Dachau because it was Oktoberfest in Munich and there wasn't a decent hotel to be had. My daughter wanted to see the camp so we did. Eerily silent. No birds singing, people talking in whispers if they talked at all, no breeze, nothing. Obviously it's a heavy place but I didn't get the feelings of dread or fear that many mention. Just sadness. My daughter felt the same way and also noticed how silent it was.

Then, I farted and the feeling of pure evil left.

Any experiences I have can be attributed to just being aware of my surroundings and picking up on queues that a person has malicious intent. Late night gas station experiences, a weird rest stop encounter, and a drunken walk back to a hotel in my younger days with a couple of very shady characters on a loading dock.

But I do believe in Good and Evil, and am bumping this back to the top for more stories.

My oldest daughter used to manage a restaurant in downtown Nashville named "Sinatra's".  A couple of years ago, my wife and I went to visit and had dinner there.  During the meal, I had to get up to use the restroom, which turned out was on the second floor.  As soon as I got to the second floor, I began to feel like my equilibrium was "off".  It almost felt like what I would describe as being at the top of a tall tower that was "swaying" in the wind.  So much so, that I began to think that someone possibly put something in my food or drink.  I began to feel nauseous and dizzy.  To top it all off, I got the "hair on my neck standing up" feeling and a touch of paranoia.  All of these feelings were within the few minutes I was on the second floor.  As soon as I returned to the main floor where we were dining, it all went away.

I asked my daughter about it, and she laughed.  She told me her office was on the second floor and sometimes she would run down the hallway to it because she was "creeped out" up there.  Everyone in our party kind of played it off and thought it was funny (except me).  The owner invited us all to the "Southern Turf" club on the third floor after dinner, and of course everyone wanted to stop on the second floor to use the facilities on the way up.  As soon as I got there, all of those feelings returned.  I mentioned it, but nobody else felt it.  It was creepy for sure, and it dissipated as soon as I left the floor again.  I didn't return a third time.

It's hard to describe the feelings I had there, but it was so lasting that when I returned home I began to look up the history.  It turns out this building has a history of murder, suicide, and debauchery.  Never in my life have I felt like I did that night, and it is difficult to describe.

Here's some links to the history of the building and an air bnb link for the haunted loft if you're into that type of thing.

I spent nearly a month in East TN and Western NC surveying the damage from Hurricane Helene.  Of the all the areas "off the beaten path" that I went two, only two sites stood out in my mind as "something" wasn't quite right.  One was in the headwaters and back in a hollow where multiple generations of a family lived.  A mudslide killed the grandfather there.  The second area was around Burnsville, NC.  There was something in the air which I could not explain which made me want to leave that area as we were NOT welcome.  I was as glad to leave that area that afternoon as I was upset that I had to go back there the next morning.  Seeing the same area covered in snow only added to the discomfort that I felt.

Not mine but my daughter's [which I am pretty sure I shared here before].  She claimed up and down that she saw a ghost on the Chickamauga Battlefield.  It shook her up so badly that she wanted us to unass from the battlefield RTFN and made sure our 70-lb. Labrabull slept in the twin-sized bed with her that night.

Generally speaking, some people are more sensitive to these sorts of things. Here is the old farm house story.

Here are some experiences I had going out to a friend's uncle's farm house. I don't remember how old the house might have been but it could have been built in the late 1930s-1940s, it was very nice old farm house, very well kept inside and out.

I first started visiting there when I was 12, my friend's aunt and uncle were extremely nice, easy going retired farm people. They very much lived on the main floor. What got me was the 'upstairs', I never saw or heard anything but it made me extremely uncomfortable. It was almost like walking into some type of electric field.

This was about 2 years after my "10 Years Old and New House" experience so I was somewhat sensitive to something there. My friend never felt anything but thought some of the old time pictures watched him. We camped out many times over the years but I never would have stayed the night in that house. My friend did tell me about an aunt with a very strict reputation that had passed away in one of the bedrooms upstairs.

It was almost certainly something paranormal but I have no idea what it might have been. I have never, since then, felt anything stronger. After getting the $%^t scared out of me at age 10 or so, I may well have been blocking some of the things I might have otherwise noticed. By the time I was in my 20s, the effects, if they were still there didn't bother me much, if at all.

ETA: I actually tested the 'feeling' I got by walking up and down the stairway to the 2nd floor. I could tell when I encountered "it" and when I left the 'area' going back down stairs. I encountered this "electric field" a certain number of steps from the top floor.

It was a feeling similar to being charged up from walking across a carpet in the winter time, except that it didn't go away when I stepped on the hard wood flooring. Whatever it was, it didn't vary any as I walked about the second story.

I have read of other sensitives mentioning these types of feelings in actual haunts, eg.   (Sybil Leek working with Hans Holzer on a case in California.)  In my case IDK, it could have been residual.

Thanks,

Rob

When I was a kid probably 8-10 years old I was sitting in the living room at night by myself watching tv, parents were in a different room. we lived in a kind of creepy house surrounded by forest. my (normally very relaxed, chill) dog was laying in front of me. I felt something touch the top of my head and thought maybe it was a bug, but suddenly my dog flipped his head around, stared right above my head, jumped up and started barking/growling like i'd never heard him do before or after.

The hair on his back was standing up and he was going crazy with his eyes locked on something behind me. I got up and ran out of the room crying (and brushing the top of my head in case there was a giant bug ) I wouldn't go back in until my parents went with me, they were kind of scared too because they'd never heard the dog like that. Not gonna lie I was afraid to be in the living room by myself at night for a little while after that!

Aushwitz also had a very bad vibe, but I think what creeped me out the most was this loud american family that i kept running into who were taking family pictures like they were at disney world

A long time ago, I went to a young republican's breakfast hosted by Mark Foley. He had a young boy by his side the whole time. Putting off creeper vibes, I wasn't surprised when the scandal broke.

Just about every politician I've ever met has given me major creep/evil/psychopath vibes. Probably all of them now that I think of it. I hate having to vote for 'the lesser of 2 evils' Same goes for certain pastors (and im a christian). I went to a church once where the pastor was doing a classic prosperity gospel. It was a poor area of Atlanta and this guy was talking about how he used to be poor then god told him to give all his money to a church, and suddenly he started getting 10, 15 thousand dollar checks in the mail 'from god' and now owned a rolls royce and private plane. the poor, desperate people in the audience were eating it up- it made me sick.

when it was time for tithes he told everyone to stand up while the music plays, and then to put your hands in the air.. i refused because i felt disgusted, i couldnt do anything but just stand there feeling depressed. there were hundreds of people in there, but he suddenly stopped his 'singing', opened his eyes and stared daggers at me and kept loudly yelling 'put your hands in the air! put your hands in the air i said!'- he screamed at me for probably 30 seconds with his face turning red. i just had to walk out, and haven't been to a church since. it wasn't this guy, but he gave me the same feeling

I've had that feeling twice and in circumstances that are somewhat predictable. One was when interviewing a convicted murderer, in the prison, about a cold case. He admitted to it after talking to his lawyer. He already had the death penalty commuted to life terms on his previous cases, so, he knew he wasn't gonna die for it. What's another life sentence. At least the family had some closure.

The other was when a senior clergyman admitted to molesting his great granddaughters. We later found that he molested nearly every female below him in his family tree.

It was as if the evil oozed off both of their bodies. I've interviewed others that were truly bad guys but evil was part of these two, part of their aura. It was as if it was thick in the air around him.

The worst was when I went back to my old home town to visit and hang out. Nothing bad ever happens, Mayberry type place.

Went to a basement college bar, not crowded really and there was this little guy in there that seemed off. We bumped shoulders moving through and seemed like he wanted to fight, even though no words were exchanged.  Every wire in my brain started to scream that I needed to kill him right then and there. The feeling would not stop, and I’ve literally never been able to explain or articulate why I had that thought. I’m not a fighter or anything so I had to actively try and stop the thoughts but couldn’t. I ended up leaving just to get away.

Turned out about an hour after I left, this little shit went behind the bar in the ally, found a broken table leg in a dumpster, and beat a kid to death with it.

Heard the news and knew who did it before his picture was in the paper. Weirdest feeling in my life.

It's especially interesting when your thoughts/ gut feeling are validated.

Bump for the night crew.

I worked at a park one time, and a road was closed off with a jersey barrier. I had spent plenty of time in that park, but decided to walk around the barrier and explore down the road a bit. I got a very weird feeling about 200 yards down that road, to the point where I felt I needed to get the hell out of there.

A few years before, a young girl named Amber Harris was abducted and murdered, and dumped in that park. I do not know for certain, but I have little doubt that the location her body was dumped was right where I got a very strange feeling.

@NWJohnny I had a similar but different reaction last year in a restaurant. I was just hanging out, nice place on the beach in Georgia, and got this absolutely sick feeling that someone in the room was actively dying. I'm a doctor but not trauma, so it was weird and I couldn't shake it. There were old people all around and servers running, but never saw anyone in the kitchen. I made sure I knew where the AED was and the address of the place for the inevitable call to 911 but nothing happened while we were there and we left. I told my family all about it.

Anyway, the restaurant was so good we went back the next day for lunch. The place was somber and quiet, and it turned out the night before the dish washer that had been there for years had a heart attack. Most likely started while we were dining but he didn't tell anyone, went home, and passed that night.

I have always trusted my gut but really, truly believe we can be tuned into things we don't understand more than we know.
