I was outside with a Cat3 storm (Wilma) with a son to experience the power. The winds beared down and broke (12) 75'-80' pine trees in half... even a palm tree came down and those things are tough. Short pine branches landed far from the trees and were impaled into the lawn. Large pine branches just flew past. Rain stung your face, and was sideways. It was time to go inside, as there was real danger of being hit. Being out in the high winds of a real hurricane is unforgettable - but those winds only lasted maybe 15-20 minutes.  So we boogied up the trees and sawed our asses off. Damn if that didn't work. When the backside of the storm started back up the trees didn't bend over as much as before. Me and my brother were the oldest of 9 children so I guess we were The Expendables.
