I've got a P4-2.4Mhz, with 1.5GB's of ram and a pretty decent video card. It works fairly well. You shouldn't have much problem, unless your internet connection is very slow. It loads all the imagery on the fly, as you move about and zoom in/out, so that can slow things down a bit if you're scrolling all over he place. Otherwise, it should do well. It really IS a LOT of fun. I've sat for HOURS at times, just looking all over for cool US Ships and places back home. Definitely worth the download ! |

I'v been having a blast with it so far, and yeah the inter net speed is no problem I'm running 5meg cable. |

Funny - the Controlled Industrial Area of Bremerton WA is all blurry yet the three mothball carriers 50 yards are in perfect sharpness.

Alameda which is a former USN base. Now the old USS Hornet is sitting there on pier 3 as a museum. USS Midway isn't pictured down on Broadway pier down in San Diego and all the active carriers are gone from North Island.

There is all sorts of fun stuff going on there. I am glad its blurry. I was there for a few months guarding a sub RFDF with FAST. |

Seriously guys... stop screwing around on the insignificant intel with Google Earth.
Do your civic duty and get the rest of my American brethren some pics of Jessica Simpson sunbathing nude. Hell, I'll even take pics of her sister. Truly, some of you guys may have careers with some alphabet soup .gov entities with all of your spy capabilities and time. Mostly time. Any live action pics of any bombs or other ordinance going off in war zones? I have no idea how this Google Earth gizmo works, I'm not too techy. |

Just found that my boot camp (San Diego) is gone as is the first military housing unit I stayed in (Gateway at Point Loma) is gone too. |

LPH- Landing Platform Helicopter. Amphibious Assault ship but no well deck just a flight deck. The Command Ships Mt Whitney and Blue Ridge were built on this platform but have antennas where the flight deck is. Except for a small helo spot. |

Did anybody else notice the two helicopters on the pad at chernobyl?

Not all the photos were taken at the same time, Paul. Some images on Google Earth are over 20 years old (or so I've been told). Some are nearly brand new. Better resolution ones are the newer ones. |

Thanks, That shows atleast 4 B2 shelters. |

Here is one for you.
Saw this on another thread. Chinese Military Base I got curious so I thought I would look the area over. Here is what I found: Go north a few miles until you see Yinchuan AB. This is a Chinese Air Base with a road leading to the mountains west of the base. It appears to be some kind of underground storage facility off of the air base. Nuclear Storage perhaps, Missles ? Here is a better pic of the storage entrance: Then go a couple miles south along the main road and what do I see ? Is this a Nuclear Plant ? Then, go a couple of miles east and walla ! Is this yet another Nuclear Plant ? You guys tell me. What do you all think ? |
|
That IMO is a taxiway/alternate runway that is leading to aircraft shelters built into the mountain. |
|
|
Acually Those look like coal plants to me... nuke plants don't have smoke stacks... the places pictured do. both nuke and coal plants have condensing towers though like those in the pics. |

Could someone post the USS Texas which is located in Houston. Or all of the oil refineries in Houston?
