I don't drive trucks or SUVs, so I caould care less what either side does there...

Try 500/500

The LS6 allready does 405HP NA in the Vette, and it's still a 5.7L

It's the same 350cid small-block they've been using forever, they just changed the heads, metallurgy (Aluminum), and fuel delivery system...

What's 'not true' about the LS series motors?

4.3 V6 Chevy is one of the best engines made.

Its a 350 with 2 chambers chopped off, making it 262, biggest V6 on market and 260-270 ft. lbs of torque.

It's funny when your 4.3 S-10 has almost the same towing ability as a V8 dodge Dakota and gets way better gas mileage.

Enough about the gas engines, I don't even care anymore about gas engines in trucks, whoever makes the best Diesel truck gets my money next go around.

In this threads case, I'd have to say Ford makes the best Diesel out of the 2.

The 4.3 is a fantastic motor, aside form having to replace the $400 injector (MPFI) on the Vortec after it starts blowing black smoke at around 10 years old or 90k miles)

I'm still waiting for my sister to get rid of her Blazer, I am going to keep the 4.3 for a future rock buggy project.

LOL

Had a '87 Silverado longbox with the 305. It's kinda lame for a truck motor IMHO.

For cars it's whatever works best.......

I work for General Motors Corparation and what a lot of people don't know is that the parts companys that make the parts for GM also make most of the parts for Ford. Just a little info.

This is at LEAST the second time you've said this.  Is there a story behind it?

I like Ford trucks.  Would consider Chevy/GMC in the pre-vortec models.  Would only have a Dodge if it were 3/4 or 1 ton w/ a Cummins.  If Dodge would get off their idiot streak and build a real crew cab they would probably sell a whole lot more trucks.

True, the 92-95 had this issue. The injectors been updated, since then and the update is much more reliable. Replacing the injector is REALLY easy, so that's a plus in all of that.

BTW, you can find those injectors for not much more then $200 on Ebay. Also, more and more website are offering "worked over" injectors for $200-$300 that eliminate failure all together.

GL on your project btw, that sounds like fun!

Also, MPFI injection was on the Turbo syclone/typhoon engines, CPI injection is the type your looking for.

Oops, yea, I just remembered that...   good catch

The buggy project wont be fore a while yet.. I have too many things on the burner now..   My first project is going to be my Sonoma, as soon as a get something else to do all my highway driving.   Nothing secial about it right now, just a 00 2wd ext cab with a 4banger..  but I have some neat plans for it.   ( 6.5"lift, 30's, poly bushings & cab mounts,8.5" rear,  locker, gears, zq8 stearing box,  4wheel disk brakes, fibreglass hood,  and some day.. LS1/6sp swap)

I voted Ford and I own three Chevy's.  This is ridiculous, all happened before 60,000 miles

1999 Chevrolet Silverado:
ABS broken
passenger side window broken (electric)
emergency brake (rear) gone out
the infamous "Piston Slap" plagueing all trucks of these time frame
etc.

2000 Chevrolet Cavalier:
broken moonroof/sunroof
rear speakers quit working
fuel pump went out (500 MILES FROM HOME ON VACATION)
etc.

NO, it's 400/400 (right now).   C6 Corvette =  400/400.

General Motors Corporation
transit.metrokc.gov/am/vehicles/hy-diesel.html

In May 2004, Metro began taking delivery of 235 hybrid diesel-electric buses to replace the 236 Breda buses built in 1990-91 operating on routes using the Downtown Seattle Transit Tunnel – 213 are bring purchased by Metro and 22 by Sound Transit. The first two dozen hybrids went in service in South King County on June 5. All 235 will be on the road by the end of 2004.

These are the first hybrid articulated buses in North America. They were made for Metro by New Flyer Industries, with a hybrid electric drive supplied by Allison Transmission, a division of General Motors.

The Allison parallel system provides both a mechanical and an electrical path through the drive unit. As the bus accelerates from a stop, electric drive predominates. Mechanical gradually blends with electric until at highway speeds, the drive is purely mechanical.
