Add an AMD Tech strut to the top of a wire side folder and they're pretty good.

Should be able to do something similar w a folder. View Quote Now that is a handy sized rifle. |

Everyone keeps wanting to reinvent the wheel. As he said YMMV. Romy side folder wire stocks like that are great since most have the wire off to the left side so a right handed shooter gets a good cheek weld. Center strut versions- like E German or Polish, not so much. (I think some Romys may be center strut also). Regardless, they only fit into a regular rifle trunnion. M92 does not have that, you would need to do too much work to adapt a Romy folder I think. |

Not sure if available aftermarket but I like the Galil folder on my Polytech

I think an under folder looks perfect on the M92. Some people complain about underfolders but I have one on a Norinco and I have no complaints at all. When I get the stamp for my M85 that’s the route I’ll be going.

I’ve got a Magpul on my M70.
It is the most comfortable of the 8 or so AK’s I’ve owned |

Underfolders look cool but are horribly uncomfortable to shoot.
I have a triangle folder which I like. |

Arsenal makes the best folding stock.
An Arsenal AK is the best. |

The problem with most of these suggestions is the amount of work required to utilize them. It’s great if you have the tooling to do it, the patterns are provided online or you can use a trunnion to cut the required pattern in the receiver. Countersunk rivets, once removed will require the receiver get pressed flat again and welded closed.
A wire folder or Zhukov needs a standard AKM fixed stock rear trunnion. Very common trunnion, wire folders are plenty as well. The receiver of your Yugo will need to be squared off if it isn’t already. A genuine Bulgarian or Russian triangle folder needs a side folding trunnion installed with forward latch to hold it in its open config. The rear of the receiver will need to be angled to match the angle required for the stock you choose. I forget the required angle. I think it’s slightly different depending on whether you’re using a 4.5mm trunnion or a 5.5mm. An under folder needs an under folding trunnion and stock assembly. It is correct for an M92 and your receiver is may already be properly angled at the rear. You’d need to bore new holes for the assembly. I like under folders, they don’t bother me ergonomically. Then there’s a Yugo fixed stock trunnion, which depending on what you have, may match the rivet pattern of your pistol’s blank trunnion. There are of course other options that don’t require major surgery. |

I did this Manticore arms stock and this hinge

These make excellent carrying cases for under folders. Just wear the right outfit and no one gives you a second thought.

It's an M92, add an OG underfolder. It looks sweet. But if you want to go all tacticool, get one of the 4.5mm or 5.5.mm russian style folding trunnions and have someone add it. Then get a zenitco stock of your flavor if you can still get one.

Does anyone know how well the top rail would work for an optic or will I have to go with a side rail and a right side folding stock?

I wish JMac made a stock arm that worked with a stormwerkz hinge. I’d dump my manticore triangle folder in a heartbeat.
It’s a good stock, just heavier than I’d like and a bit of a cheek rise would be nice. |
|
An AKS style side folder that is being recommended will require significant modifications to not only the receiver, but also the front trunnion.
I’m not even sure it would work given the bulged front trunnion on Yugo AK’s. |
|
In my experience the wire folders and underfolders suck if you actually plan on shooting it. On any platform I've used it on. Just because the cheekweld is less than stellar. Back in the day guys would put pipe insultation over it and wrap it in electrical tape to make it more tolerable. I'd just go with the triangle.
