Quoted: Think I'm going to go with greys. Probably Tamiya Sasebo Grey as the base. Then working from there. View Quote I have decided that when I finally get to the painting stage of mine I'm going to Splash a little bit of aluminum into the paint to give it just a slight metallic sheen. I always thought based on the CGI model of the Pegasus that it looked like it had a little bit more of a metallic look to it than the Galactica did |

Pure metallic doesn't look right, but neither does straight grey. |

View Quote Yeah I agree I thought about running a light mist of maybe a chrome silver or a aluminum but then I think I might play around with adding it to the paint and see what happens |

I know I'd screw that paint job up.
There's no way I could work around so many whatsits on the hull without making at least one look like it had a kB! or a elFire at some time in the past. |

View Quote That's ok, Galactica and Pegasus had battle damage that couldn't be repaired. They both got in progressively worse shape(Galactica mostly) as the show went on. |

I'm a bit jealous. That looks a hell of a lot better than my pre-finished Moebius one.

Quoted: They did/do the MkII and MkVII and the new Raider, as well as the old series Viper and Raider. They also have the Galactica and Pegasus, but they're harder to find. They're not bad, but they don't fill seams and no weathering. ETA: MkII, in all it's seamy glory. All I did was apply a wash to bring out the details. They just do the basic paint with no washes or weathering at all. https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/145185/IMG_20210729_085259-2031917.jpg https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/145185/IMG_20210729_085315-2031918.jpg View Quote Oh wow they could have at least filled the gaps in the seams. That's the next one that I'm going to build and also have the Raider and another Raptor |

The biggest issue is the right fuselage half is slightly higher than the left. Since I didn't build it, I don't know if it's a parts issue or an assembler issue, but I suspect the latter. |

There are some really nice models in this thread. Here is a picture of an ancient Airfix 1/76 scale model of a British WW2 Humber armored car. It really looks better in person, as the magnified picture really shows the seams and lack of detail in this kit, compared to anything made in the past 20-30 years. I think the kit was old even by 1970's standards. I built this 45 years ago, entirely hand painted (an airbrush was an unimaginable luxury at that time). I had a number of models, but most did not survive my little brother while I was in the military.

Now 1/72 scale models cost as much as 1/35 stuff did back when I was growing up in the 80's. Of course now 1/72 scale stuff is as detailed as 1/35 stuff was back then. |

They were the nicest models I built for a long time. At least the US tanks, and the Long Tom 155mm gun - being all OD. The German ones not as much due to my attempt at painting the camo by hand. I bought a big stack one time probably for $20 total I built a Monogram 1/35 (or maybe 1/32) Stug IV that turned out amazingly nice for a 12 year old with no airbrush. |

The layer of dried mud above the wet mud on the greatcoat is also AK Interactive as is the snow. All of their terrain effects stuff is so easy to use and really looks great |
