The FNP looks like something the Japanese would make.

Look at the grip... It's retarded.

Well hell, I wish I'd waited for the USG then.  I can do without front side serrations however.

Do they make a model without a decocker?

I hate HK and their snobby attitude, but i'd take an HK45 or HK USP over ANY handgun

1911 fanboys need to learn their weapon is almost a 100 year old design, and it has long since been surpassed.

Pffft. I've owned both a HK45 and HK USP. I sold both. I'll take a single stack with a 10 round mag over both any day....and do. They are both great guns but to suggest they surpass the 1911? Please.

The only plastic gun I currently own is an HK P30.

What is the "USG" version?  Is that with a safe/fire/decock control?

Yup, like the USP V1, and it has front slide serrations

FNP USG goodness

Well consider this a tag....

I've shot an HK45 and a USP45 and can say that the HK45 is the only H&K gun I'd own.  It shoots nice and is comfy in hand.

That said, I've not handled the FN, but intend on it now, that tan one is a sweet looking gun.  It would be at home with my FN SLP MK1.

I like the HK's safety over the FN's.  I've only ever fingered the FNP guns with the tiny, mushy stamped steel safety, so maybe the FNP45 USG might be a better deal.  At any rate, I refuse to use the DA trigger on these, so a handy and positive safety lever is a must.

I also like the HK's mag release.  It's a hell of a lot faster to use your trigger finger than to squirm your thumb around to the standard pushbutton mag release.  The downside I see is that it's muscle memory that may betray you on other guns.
