This morning I discovered that Novocaine no longer works on me, and my dentist was out of Nitrous... It was really bad.

I had to get ingrown toenails on both of my big toes fixed. The doctor numbed my toes, but one of them had a weird nerve or some shit and wouldn't numb. He started cutting it and I told him I could feel it, and he told me I was imagining it and went on cutting. At that point I just gripped my poor honey's hand super hard, gritted my teeth, and dealt with it. He had to half-carry me to the truck. I was shaking and crying. He stopped at a gas station on the way home and got me a cold coke. It was fucking awful. It's probably the second worst pain I've ever felt in my life. Does nearly dying in two high speed motorcycle accidents, one high speed car accident, one mountaineering accident, one plate glass door accident (300 stitches), one severed artery accident (left radial artery), once to a lightening strike, twice to diseases, and once to an EtOH overdose count?
I was also a paramedic for a while and saw lots of traumas. The funny thing is I am not bothered in the slightest by any of these life events. |

I drove 139 miles on a road that was mined by three countries over a couple decades. Convinced I was gonna get my balls blown off the whole trip.

When I divorced my first wife. Beotch took everything, I went to visit my parents for a couple of days and she called in a moving company and cleaned out the apartment and the bank account, and moved 600 miles away. All I had left was my car and the clothes on my back. But I got over it when I started banging her older sister

I could post a couple things but I will do you a favor and not post (former LEO). I am sure all first responders that have dealt with homicides/suicides have a few choice stories that they just do not want to share.

Finding out my 1st wife was cheating on me, really messed me up. There are 6 months of my life that are just a black out. I wasnt drinking or doing drugs just zoned out. Took me a long time to get over that one.

Been through some terrible surgeries and recoveries as a kid, seen enough murders, suicides, and dead babies and children for a lifetime and I'm only 26.
You think you've seen the worst of people and then they have to go and one up themselves. It's funny how innocent some people think the world is. In reality it is a gruesome experiment in how much man can take before he quits or dies. |

Back in the day I felt bad when some little punk kid got his bike stolen. One of the older boys took his bike
And proceeded to ghost ride it down into the murky water at the bottom of a drainage canal. I then waded in to get the bike and this slime and seaweed stuck to me as a swam out. The little boy was happy though. He grew up that day.

As a freshman in high school,we had to wait at the elementary school for the buses to take us to the high school. Me and a friend were sharing a cigarette, as our bus approached my friend was hell bent on being first on the bus. He ran toward the bus tripped somehow and fell under the bus and the back set of tires ran over him. He lifted his head once, layed it back down and passed away right there. Air Vac showed but again he was DOA.

First time I got the tip of my right little finger clipped off in a door. Doc had to slap me to get me to settle down and stitch it back on. How did the second time go? Any easier? I guess proper punctuation would help, and sentence structure. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. |

Being present when my dad would beat the shit out of my mom. He did it most nights. If I happen to be in bed when he came home and he would start in on her, I would put the pillow over my head to try to not hear. I can still only sleep with pillow over my head and it has been 25 years since my last dealings with that.

Lost mom and dad, within six months of each other, when I was 19. I think the day mom got her biopsy done and found out about the cancer was the worst, this was two months after dad died. I was watching my world burn down around me. Remember, this is after going through three years of dad being horrendously sick, his death was a relief in many ways, but I was not ready for mom, the rock in my corner, the person who held me up while I held her up, to be gone.
Me, Jack Daniels, and God had one hell of an argument that night... God won, and gave me the strength to somehow see everything through, but I had one hell of a meltdown afterward. Everything before or since just sorta pales in comparison.. my wife wonders how I can be so calm when bad things happen, it really can always be worse. |

Where to start. Start small and more localish in the traumatization. Got jumped by six thugs while walking home late one evening. They tried their best to kill me. Multiple boot kicks to the face, hits to the head with brass knuckles, six people stomping on my body at once.
Then we could get into family issues Relationship issues Finding dead bodies constantly while hanging billboards for a living Burying my best friend my senior year etc etc etc |

At age 5 or 6 I woke up in the night and saw a purple gorilla looking in my window.
Of course I freaked and ran down the hall to wake my Dad. He found it so funny that he recorded me explaining how purple gorillas are real and he was there to take me. |

When I was 6 years old I went to Six Flags to ride the biggest and fastest roller coaster in the world. However, it had no seat belts, just a lap bar. After the second drop I somehow slid under the bar heading out the door until my mom grabbed me. I rode the rest of the ride held down on the floor. It took a long time to get over my fear of any big rides after that.

I drove up on an atv accident one night and I watched a kid pick his uncle up and the contents of his head fall out. I then got to hang around and listen to the screaming till the ambulance pulled up. The image of the guy laying there with brains scattered around still holding on to a 12 pack of wild cherry Pepsi won't leave my mind.

About 6 years ago, I'm the GM of an oilfield service company. We work 24/7/365 and my phone is pretty quiet after 7PM unless there is a problem. Phone wakes me up around 11:30PM with a major wreck evolving one of our trucks not far from town. Two teenage girls ran a stop sign in front of our truck and got completely blitzed. The car almost immediately caught fire and burned both of them beyond human recognition. I was on the scene when they removed those girls - I can still remember the drivers white socks after all that fire. The smell of burning cars haunts me to the day.

I don't know if I would describe it as traumatic but it certainly effected my outlook on life.
When I was a kid, elementary school age, I was riding my bike down to the creek one afternoon and road up on two guys messing with a piece of road equipment the county had parked there. As I got close grabbed a wrench and came after me. Luckily the second guy wanted no part of caving in a kids head and wrapped him so I could escape. I got off the road the second I was out of sight and traveled low through the field all the way to the house so they could not see from the road. |

Of all the accidents and injuries Ive had one that haunts me the most is when my Mustang GT got
Knocked of the jackstands (by me) while I was under it. Coma, last rites no air for 9 minutes Actually traumatized my wife, 5 yr old son and 4 yr old daughter for life too. No spouse or You g child should see their father pulled out from under a 3200 pound car blood spewing out of his Eyes, ears and mouth with skin colored more like charcoal than a pale skinned Irishman |

I stayed a month than traveled around Missouri (Mom and Dad's family live there) and Tennessee for the next 4 months. When I got home I found everything in my house had been stolen by my oldest Brother's Daughter and her Boyfriend. My Brother was suppose to watch my house but left it too his drug addicted kid. All of the furniture, silverware, clothes, 3 - 5 gallon buckets of brass and TV were either sold at a yard sale or Pawn Shop. There was still some items they had not gotten rid of in a storeage unit that I got back. My lawn was dead along with a tree my Wife and I had planted. There were holes in the walls. The Boyfriends Mom had been staying there for about a month and messed up what once was my Library with used Depends. Ed |

woke up by my wife in 2010 with her saying you had a siezure, got out of the hospital with 2 dislocated shoulders, 2 broken arms (arms dislocated out the back forcing the break) and a broken vertebrae, the docs thought it was a one time deal because I had the flu with high fever, 23 hours with no sleep and took 4 benedryl, had another painful seizure 2 days later, still taking meds
I don't know who was traumatized more me or my kids. My youngest girl witnessed the second one and wouldn't sit in my lap for a year |

Not traumatizing so to speak, but I have suffered traumatic brain injury and I actually looked like afterwards

The summer when I turned 6, the river was nearly over the banks. We had a small boat tied to a tree, and I was playing in it (after being told repeatedly not to, of course). Somehow the knot came loose, or the rope broke, I don't remember. The current was fast, and the boat headed downstream in a hurry.
I will never forget my terror, thinking what my father would do to me. I tried to scream, but my voice did not work. That scared me even more. In less than a minute, I managed to find an oar, and I was able to grab a tree branch. I got to shore, and dragged the boat back and got it tied up before anyone noticed I was gone. I had the shakes for half an hour. |
