Additionally Propellorheads are EDM / big beat. Pi Soundtrack is EDM. People confuse EDM electronic dance music with electronic body music. While they share the electronic part the feel, tones, and beats are different. To make it more confusing some bands depending on the track jump genre. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electro-industrial |

Some point the fusion between industrial electronic and death metal happened... Quoted: I think there has been some evolution, NIN's PHM is considered EBM and when it came out in 1989 it was banned in many clubs for being to fast and "Edgy"... it all started some where. Probably with Kraftwerk... a very long time ago and got to where it is. Comibchrist didn't just pop up out of nowhere. Some point the fusion between industrial electronic and death metal happened... I drove my roommates in the barracks nuts cranking that all the time. I'd say it may be earlier than '92 but that is a good benchmark. I think bands like Cabaret Voltaire really helped set the future coarse. However it happened this is my favorite genre of music. Edit:@mallninjamaster I think you are correct. I'm having to think too hard this AM but industrial was just industrial till mid 90's if I remember correctly. About the same time the Techno sound took off industrial started breaking up into more sub-genre. Cabaret Voltaire - Ghostalk (1985) |
