This will be the first time I have missed since the early 90's.
I also live fairly close and usually go 2 or 4 times a year. For us to spend 1 to 2 grand a year is not uncommon. I let them know that unless they change their mind, I will never attend another one. Even if you didn't plan on attending, I implore you to send them a note.

I had seen some comments about Bass Pro supporting the show, and when i asked BPS about this on their facebook page this is the response I received:

I'm on Foxpro's field staff and they sent me a copy of a letter they sent out regarding the subject. Glad to see their decision. I tip my hat to all that tells Reed to F-off.

I havent ever been to this show so, I dont know how large it is. I can say this though, that is one impressive list of vendors pulling out. It appears that they are fucking finished. Good riddance!  |

I'm torn. My son and I went last year. He had a great time. I think we climbed into every single boat and camper, watched the 3D archery shoot for half an hour (which is about forever for a kindergartener), tried out some rifles, looked at some fishing gear, watched the falconry demonstration and had some beef jerky. The hotel had an indoor pool, and he was stoked about swimming while it snowed outside.
I bought the tickets and paid for a hotel room (nonrefundable reservation saved me $20 for the night) way back. My son is really looking forward to an "adventure" and I told him we were going to get a Cricket rifle for him. Not going to the show is really going to disappoint him and I loved the time we spent. I want to go, but the show will be tainted for me because of Reed and the Second Amendment. I want to boycott, but my kid is talking about how cool it's going to be. Help me with my dilemma, GD. |

If they already have your money you won't really be hurting them if you don't go. That being said--I wouldn't buy anything there and let vendors know why. Your kid can still have fun and you can buy the rifle somewhere else. ETA Thank God I didn't but my tickets in advance to save a buck! |

I would say go to the show. They have your money, you are already in their statistics. Not going does nothing to hurt them since they already have the only thing they want from you. I would suggest tracking down someone at the show and giving them a piece of your mind. I would also buy nothing at the show. Shop around, write a list, and buy from a competitor who did not attend. |

I am convinced that a hotel with a pool during the winter months is a better trip than nearly anything for kids. We stayed overnight in Rochester one time with a hotel that had a pool and now my kids speak of Rochester like its goddamn Disney land
