One of the best camping experiences I’ve had was in a first come first serve rustic campground back in the Canyonlands national park. The stargazing was fantastic.

1 - AWESOME!

2 - in my experience, a Jeep configured for proper offroad, is just terrible on the highway. White knuckle drive at those 10 MPG highway speeds with loud tires, and you feel like it's just going to jump off the road and flip at any moment. I would not enjoy a 1500 mile highway road trip in one going 70+, I'll say that! Can you just tow it? (You'll get about the same mileage either way!)

But once you get to MOAB, you will be a God amongst men, with that badboy.

I had a couple of CJ5's back in the '70's. Great fun........for a while. Not so great on road trips.

I've done the White Rim Trail twice, both times in an all-stock 4Runner SR5 with factory tires. We camped for two nights on each of the trips. It might have been doable in one day, during the summer when you have more daylight, but that would be a long, long day.

Got stuck once on Potash Road during or not long after monsoon season, but getting pulled out of that was easy. During dry season it wouldn't have happened at all.

I brought my Glock 43X and AR15 with me out to Colorado last year to hit the Jeep trails.

We did 2,500 miles round trip in our gx460 to go wheeling in Ouray, Co in July. Had issues on the way up and only got to do two trails. It sucked after building up a vehicle to take up there after wanting to go for years only to not do any of the trails we wanted to do. Got to see some beautiful areas though.

I've been wheeling out there 10 times and driven my rig from NE Ill-annoy each time. The only thing I've broken is a sway bar end link (back when I had sway bars). and I don't wheel the easy trails.
It does make me a little nervous wheeling for 7 days and then having to drive nearly 1400 miles home after, but I wheel my rig accordingly. The answer is not always all the skinny pedal.

Good luck, have fun and pay attention to your rig. My son (a real dumbass in his younger years) had me re-gear the Samurai so he could go rock crawling. He failed to tell me about the rock crawling part. So he’s 125 miles from home, slides off a rock and the center section landed on the rock. He split the weld in the center and didn’t know it. Drove it home, and drove it around a week or two after.
Told him I was done being his pit mechanic. Sold it. If he told me what he was doing we could have installed sliders or something to protect the housing.

What are you bring for spare parts and tools?

Running stock front shafts I would recommend spare shafts for easy change out, The shafts ujoint ears are the weak point. Its even a quicker trail swap with the wheel bearing attached as a unit.

As a owner of a Bronco and a TJ, The Bronco driver is going to have a nice comfortable ride there. You, not so much

FYI, the ZJ steering upgrade is plenty strong for 35s" and a a lot less $ than the Currie setup.
