I happened to be listening to KVI-570 (Seattle area pseudoconservative talk-radio station) yesterday afternoon around 3pm, and the topic-du-jour was "should criminal charges be filed against the suicidal woman, and if so, what charges and punishment would be appropriate?"
Someone posted that people should have just ignored her -- that's not possible when it's the POLICE who blocked off the road in their required response to talk her down. I guess drivers could've just rammed the barricades and run over the cops, but then you'd probably bitch about that too.
Seattle has had similar events in the past -- a year or two ago, a transsexual fire-breather (no shit, I am not making this up) climbed up onto a tower near the expressway and danced around topless, occasionally blowing out fireballs, for an hour or two. Here's a newsstory with photo:

During that incident, rescue crews responding to an unrelated accident had to airlift (helicopter) a critically-injured victim to the hospital because ambulances couldn't get through. (See article.)
And when Initiative 200 (prohibiting racially-based preferences) passed, some University of Washington socialist students blocked the 520 Bridge (one of only two routes from Seattle to the east-of-the-lake cities, arguably the third-most-vital road in the state) for two hours.
One man died from that 520 blockage when the ambulance he was in was delayed in getting him to the hospital.
So you see, it's not just a theoretical possibility. She put other peoples' lives at risk, not just their free time or their financial well-being.
