Right after college I lived about 200 yards to Doc Holliday's grave in Glenwod Springs, CO.  The house I lived in was the closest one to the trailhead up to the graveyard.  Always fun to have ppl over to watch Tombstone!!

The development of the amphibian tractor, or LVT, which began in the middle 1930s provided the solution and was one of the most important modern technical contributions to ship-to-shore operations. Without these landing vehicles our amphibious offensive in the Pacific would have been impossible.
Lieutenant General Holland M. Smith, USMC

It all started in Clearwater and Dunedin.  There is still a tiny monument in Dunedin in memorial of the first Alligator/Water Buffalo/Amtrack.

ehh, so many movies, etc. shot here, we pay no attention.

We do have a lot of history from the 30's as the gangsters loved hanging out here. Wbasha Street caves were a popular spot. When they were featured on the history channel, they made a comment about the St. PAul police being corrupt at the time, and all I can think to ask is when did they stop?

10 mins to Picatinny Arsenal, 20 mins to a bunch of Rev War sites.. Fort Nonsense, Jockey Hollow, etc.

A mile away from the M&M Mars production plant.  A few times a month the whole valley smells  like either melting chocolate or roasting peanuts.. Industrial pollution at it's finest

Hmmmmmm.. Well, horsie-types know this area as a mecca for equestrian pursuits.. The US Eq. Team has their facilities not too far south of here.

*shrug* typical NJ.. The state is too packed in NOT to be near something famous or interesting.

Sir, until yesterday there were four nuclear powered aircraft carriers visible during my drive home from work, today there are three.  There is another nuclear powered aircraft carrier in drydock within yards of where I sit as well as a yet to be commissioned nuclear powered submarine and aircraft carrier not far away.  I was on board the carrier in drydock about an hour ago.  There is another nuclear powered aircraft carrier in drydock a few miles from here as well as an Iowa class battleship not far away.  There are quite a few other US Navy ships close by, including some LHAs, LHDs, DDs, CGs, and SSNs.  There are frequent fly overs of all manner of military aircraft including F117s, F/A18s, F14s, F22s, and C5s.  Since they all (except the BB) move around occasionally they're not always close to where I live but most of the time there are some.  7zero1, out.
