Just got the date yesterday... 18 April (A friday)
We will need funds or donated ammo for the spendy stuff 500 S&W 50 AE 300 WSM Again thanks for all you support! |
|
I can't be there for this one I'll get some ammo headed your way Ed |
|
|
Another quick bump.
I should be at this one. I'm just about broke and have almost no ammunition left; but I will bring some firearms and help get things cleaned up. I didn't see much shotgun shooting going on, so I assume there is left over 12 and 20 gauge ammunition? If so, I can supply shotguns. |
|
Yes, we had a large donation from Federal that included 12 and 20 quage.
It should be a good time for all. Bring firearms... bring yourself... We are starting to reload the spendy spendy ammo... so will need monetary donations now that the initial rush of ammo has dribbled to almost nothing. If you can give... please do. Ed |
|
One more bump before tomorrow!
ED, if you see this before the shoot; there are still clays left too, correct? If not, I may be able to scrounge up enough cash for a box or two. |

Urgent Plea for Fun Shoot volunteers and new donors
peskador wrote: Ed, my meager paypal donation headed your way Got it and thanks very much... it helped to start the reloading of calibers that are toooo expensive and ones ws can't get. Today was the Fun Shoot!! we had over 30 shooters, and all the firearms got a work out, I brought about 40 We had some shortages.... but will plan better for the next one. We are going to try to beg borrow and work with larger venders, expeciallly now that the formums donations have slowed way down. We desperately need funds though, we are now reloading 500 S&W, 50 AE, 300 WSM and probably a few others. If you can dip into you wallet... and amount is welcome. This can be thorugh checks, gift cards to sportsman wharehouse, or paypal ([email protected]) Well give a better status of ammo once my mind catches up with the body. One thing we need to better is coordinate the volunteers better. If you could please provide me with the following even if you think I have it. You name, screen name and what forums you normally go to You adrress and phone What firearms you are more comfortable in providing assistance in. What firearms you can bring to the fun shoots. We had soo many qawkers this time couldn't tell who was who at times [email protected] If you deside to donate anything.... my address is; Ed Hoffer 6303 Green Circle Drive San Antonio, TX 78233 (210) 967-5850 I can and will provide a tax statement, and the TPVA will provide recognition as well Thanks to all that have... and thanks to any new donee who which to support this cause. The next Fun Shoot is coming up. It will be held at the Bracken Range on 6 June 2008. For the volunteers past present and future please arrive at Noon to help set up. Please shoot me an email on if you will be able to attend and what firearms you will be bringing as well.
We are getting low on some supplies, and I hate to beg for donations… well it’s for a good cause and it’s a tax deductible donation. At the bottom is a current inventory of ammunition, and those calibers we need. We have some new needs. Because money has been tight for everyone, we (me) are now reloading for calibers we need but are two blasted expensive for the average person to donate. Hogdgen Powder has donated an 8lb tub of H110 which will cover our 50AE and 500 S&W reloads. Still need Varget for a multiple of rifle calibers. Need Large Rifle primers and Large Magnum Pistol primers. Need 50 AE 325 gr JHP Bullets Need 500 S&W 350 gr JHP Bullets Need various grains of .308 rifle (125, 150, 165, 180) Bullets. (These will be used for 7.5 Swiss, 308, 30.06 and 300 WSM. The 125 gr will to make reduced recoil loads if we can’t get loaded ammunition. For the reloading supplies, we get them at Sportsmans Warehouse, so either a gift card to there, paypal to me, or a check. Their prices are close to Midway USA prices and we don’t pay tax, and get a 5% discount. Cleaning patches in .22 .30 .45 and .50 sizes. We clean all donor firearms at the range, and don’t think the donors need to supply their own cleaning materials. Thank you very much to those who donated in the past, and hopefully new donors and volunteers. Ed Hoffer 6303 Green Circle Dr San Antonio, TX 78233 (210) 967-5850 [email protected] (good for paypal as well as email) |

I plan on attending this one too. Whether or not I have class immediately beforehand will determine whether or not I can bring firearms...
I will try to donate a little if I can, but no guarantees. Things are tight. Oh, and Bump! |

Desperate needs for the 6 June fun shoot.
Funds (I have $98 but it won't cover everyting. .32 ACP ammo .380 ACP ammo 45/70 Ammo 9mm Makarov Ammo Skeet Clays If you have a source for primers and powder, Hodgdon's donated a 8lb container of H110 for the 50 cal pistols. We still need Varget powder, LR Primers, LR Magnum Primers and Large Pistol Magnum Primers. As well as bullets for the 500 Smith and Wesson (350 gr JHP), 50 Action Express (325 gr JHP) and 308 bullets for the 300 WSM, so 308 bullets SP or BTHP in the 165 gr +/- area. Another indidividual donate 2500 pulled .223 bullets, when those come in, will slowly start reloading that and will need brass, Small Rifle primers.. Anything to save money. I wrote letters to Midway, CCI, Graf and Sons, Laserlyte, Hodgden powders, Wiedeners, Speer and Sierra hoping for donations, but if they do respond it won't be here soon enought for the next fun shoot. If you can dig deep enougth, or can spread the word to others and see if they will donate, gun shops, anyplace that is patriotic it can't hurt, only shows promise of possible donations which we need. The amount of wounded military that we hold these events for is increasing. It used to only be 20 member 6 months ago, but now it's 30 plus and increasing. In case anyone didn't realize, the Texas Chapter of the Paralyzed Veterans of America is a Non Profit 501 C-3 Organization, which to the uninformed means it's totally tax deductible, and at least when we shop for supplies we don't have to pay sales tax. Unlike other large orgainizations where a certain share of donations goes for overhead, in this case every penny is used for these events, the funds never go up the chain, they stay with Fun Shoots and Paralyzed Vet's shooting programs here locally in San Antonio, TX Please help if you can! I've given till hit hurts, just to see these brave people smile! Ed |

Is the email a couple of posts up still good for PayPal donations? |
|

Yes... [email protected] is good for PayPal
Thank you very much!!! Update: For the 6 Jun fun shoot... We can make do without a lot of the listed needs, but desperately need: .32 ACP .380 ACP 45/70 We are also in need of shooting glasses and disposable ear plugs Please help if you can. Through the generosity of two members now have $145 dollars towards reloading supplies, but will need more for the August shoot. Ed |
|
Looks like we will be in fine shape for the 6 June Fun Shoot.
We had some recent monetary donations that allowed us to purchase the ammo and reloading components we were short of. Sierra Bullets is also going to send a donation of bullets... when they get here, looks like the shoulder will get a workout on the presses. Thank you to all again who have made these events possible!!! The next fun shoot will probably be in late July or August. Ed |
|
Looks like we need a few extra volunteers to help out at the 6 Jun Fun Shoot.
If you are local (San Antonio, TX) and would like to help out please email me. [email protected] Ed |

Hopefully all know that I'm one one of the honchos for the Wounded Warrior Fun Shoots held here in San Antonio.
We rely on donations to let our hero's out of the hospital to have an afternoon of shooting recreation. Sierra Bullets just made a size-able donation of reloading components (bullets) for which I'm humbled and totally awed. .223 52gr HPBT 4500 bullets, approx cost $712 .308 110gr FMH 2500 bullets, approx cost $450 .308 168gr HPBT 4500 bullets, approx cost $1170 500 SW 350gr JHP 3900 bullets, approx cost $1896 Total approx bullets bullets 15,400 Total approx cost $4228 I've always been a customer of their... now there is no other even if I have to back-order stuff. Another big time donor is Federal, they have donated a ton of commercial ammo. My point of contact at Sierra is Matt Reams [email protected] Thanks to all who have donated ammo, funds and support. Support Sierra Bullets and Federal Ammo, they give when no one else would. Ed |

We had a very very successful Fun Shoot yesterday. Had more shooters show up than ever. Some pictures will get posted later, I'm leaving on vacation for two weeks tonight.
We normally have 20-25 patients, and those rehabilitating, this time there were more that 30. Many thousands of rounds went down range and a GREAT time was had by all. Thanks to all who have donated, and the volunteers who were able to show up and work their butts off. Ed |

A quick bump!
The next shoot is tomorrow morning(08/15/08). Volunteers will be arriving at Bracken ~8:30 or 9:00am. Texas Hometown Forum link: www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=8&f=8&t=285549&page=3 |

It's not just a Texas event but I update the thread in the Hometown Texas section.
Over the last few years have gotten donation from all over the world; every little bit helps. Please help if you can, we lost our primary ammo donor Federal Arms due to "politics" Ed |

The next fun shoot baring a conflict or another hurricane will be 24 Oct 2008, gates open at noon.
If you would like to be added to the email list for updates as they occur and are not getting them now, just shoot me an email [email protected] As a reminder here is the link to another forum that has the whole story: surplusrifleforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=90&t=42485 |

Well bureaucracy at work, the Fun shoot has had to be rescheduled to 17 Oct due to scheduling conflicts.
Time to change the calendar. Ed |

We are looking for vendors who can not donate ammo, but would be willing to sell ammo at cost. If anyone has a lead please email me. [email protected]

Howdy ALL, it' almost time again!
The next fun shoot is still on for 17 October at the Bracken Range (www.brackenrange.com/ ). Gates open at Noon or a little before. As normal, please let me know if you can attend, and what firearms you are bringing. If you are bringing firearms please show up as early as possible so that your firearms can claim a shooting bench. By popular demand; I'm building up a second cleaning kit for pistols, if you have any extra cleaning supplies, rods, brushes etc you want to donate to this box, please feel free to do so. If anyone has some 7.5 Swiss brass going to be reloading now for this caliber, I have some but not enough. Yes, it's getting old... but ammo donations are especially welcome! For those that can... We REALLY appreciate those who stay after to help clean firearms. Any firearm shot at the range can be cleaned up afterwards. Looking forward to seeing you all out there! Ed |
